I booked the single bed room and it was as expected. Just what I needed - nothing more. Check in was painless. The breakfast, while basic, was delicious and everything tested fresh. Even the coffee machine coffee was good. Really great value at £8 for breakfast!

The parking in front of the hotel is very tight, but they do have a second space a little further away. Did not use it, but worth noting. The office chair in the room needs a refresh. I can see the bathroom looked new, but there were some odd decisions. Towle rail is next to the loo and set to 'well done' - be careful. The shower tap to control water flow is block by the shower door when you open.

It's a nice hotel ,obviously going through a large programme of renovation ,mostly completed .It's been renovated to a high standard and is very smart .My cousin who lives locally tells me that in the past it was not great .Today that's not the situation .Restaurant very good ,all freshly cooked ,breakfast good quality sausages ,bacon ,croissants ,yoghurts ,no cheap stuff .Good price ,roon very comfy ,quiet and clean .Staff all helpful and pleasant .Bar very smart .Garden at back missed opportunity and would be worth a do up .Everyone loves a garden especially in the summer .Good overall and all the best ,

- the staff at every meeting, whether at reception, in the dining room or when cleaning the rooms were friendly and welcoming. - the rooms were all so clean - the shower and bed was so comfortable - my friend who had an assistance dog and varying support needs was treated in a friendly manner, with respect and without being patronised - breakfast was worth the extra, and we gained an upgrade

the reviews online were not as good as the experience we had, which could have put us off had we not read into the reviews in more detail. this will hopefully be improved with time

Nice and tidy reception with very welcoming young man on the front desk. Best to park around the back of the hotel as there is more room and a shorter walk to reception. Corridors are a bit narrow for getting luggage to the room if you have a lot to carry and some of the fire doors could do with being partially glazed (think Premier Inn) so that you can see if anyone is coming towards you when opening them. The superior King room was excellent and had a really nice en suite although it did get quite warm even with no heating on. Comfy bed which was made up each morning. Good selection of cereal and pastries at breakfast and no problem in getting poached eggs and vegetarian sausages cooked. One small criticism for breakfast noted below.

Would have scored this a 9/10 if there had been more staff working at breakfast time to help out. Was a bit chaotic having to wait for the hot food to be replenished.

I was a little sceptical after reading reviews on this site and others but I really enjoyed my stay, and would stay here again. I booked a single room and was given the option to bid for an upgrade but I was here just one night, so a single was ok. Room 3 is a good size, clean and bright and the bathroom had been recently refurbished. Shower worked well and had good water pressure. The hotel was a 10 minute work to the resto we were eating at which was perfect. If I could rate this higher, it would be to thank the member of housekeeping who found my laptop in the room and arranged for Reception to call me, that really was helpful, thank you.

Booking a single room I anticipated something rather cramped and basic. However, it was a lovely modern room with plenty of space and it was so nice not to have to trek half way across the hotel. The shower was great and everything was clean and tidy. Breakfast was good. Not loads of choice but often it’s better to do a few bits well than a lot badly.

I can’t walk far and it was a bit of a distance to town. A biscuit might have been nice with the tea.

Property was very clean and recently redecorated , staff all friendly

The room (45) was clean, it had new carpet, been repainted and had a new bathroom with shower fitted, a good sized TV and nice large bed which was comfortable (but a bit harder than I’m used to) , however what let the room down was the state of the wardrobes which had not been updated/ repainted and a door handle missing which detracted from the overall appearance of the room when entering, didn’t effect our stay as only one night and no need of the wardrobes! Thanks

The room for a single room was a good size and clean, bathroom had everything you needed and the shower was hot and powerful, my bed however wasn't that comfortable but I guess a mattress is a very personal preference, they definitely need better pillows as they were thin and lumpy. WIFI good and free parking was a bonus. The breakfast selection was good lots to choose from but the hot buffet ingredients were of a poor quality. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Overall for what I paid, it was good value.

I made an error with the booking and the Hotel staff could not have been more helpful to correct. So thank you.

Lots of stairs

Very friendly staff in the restaurant. Lovely decorations for Christmas. Plenty of free parking. Staff gave good advice on places to go. Location was good, only a 10 min walk into the main strip.

The extrator fan in the bathroom was extremely noisy, sounding like an industrial breaker. Even when we didn't put ours on during the night when we went to the bathroom others had theirs on, keeping them on for a long time which we could hear throughout. No fried eggs for breakfast but there was other good choice.
