The hotel caters for dogs and we had taken our dog on this occasion. The hotels location was great.

Our room seemed to have a defect on the floor and wasn't level and unfortunately the position of the bed ment that one side was higher than the other because of the floor not being level, very strange trying to sleep in a bed like that.

The views ,the location, the food ,the price

How the hell can britania hotels justify charging £7per device for 24 hours Internet access, last week we stayed in a small b&b on the North Bay in Scarborough and the Internet was free With those prices you are getting close to the Royal Spa prices Also staff shouldn't be expected to cover the bar and reception at the same time it just causes bad feelings

The room was fine and the buffet restaurant was good. Having lived in Scarborough some years ago, I enjoyed being back in familiar territory. I had stayed at the Royal during New Year's Eve in 2007. We stayed at the "NOT GRAND" a year ago and it was TERRIBLE so happy to be back at a nice hotel

Very disappointed that there was no free WiFi in the room and did not wish to pay the fee for in-room WiFi. However, by some "glitch" my computer connected with the in-room WiFi and there was no charge. This is very poor service to not provide free WiFi to guests. You know (!) everyone immediately tries to sign on WiFi as soon as they walk into the room. This should be changed; even to raise the nightly price (by £7.00 to match the sign-on price). People expect WiFi available in their rooms and I am sure this is included in the nightly price in other hotels without making an it "extra charge" or inconvenience to the guests. I did go to the lounge to use the free Wi-Fi but this was not as handy as having it in the room. Move into 2023, Royal Hotel.

We upgraded to a sea view room, which was absolutely huge. It's really clean. It also has a huge seating area that follows on to an outside seating area on the middle floor, where we sat and had an amazing view of Scarborough. Staff were lovely. Would highly recommend and will definitely be visiting again some time in the near future.

We wasnt noted about the bathroom sink being backed up. Also, there's only a selection few parking spots (being on the main road) some of those are strictly loading bays, so had to park behind the palm hotel in the automated car park which cost £12! However, parking isn't that much of an issue as the hotel is beautiful!!

Building is amazing. Staff helpful/ friendly. Rooms lovely and warm. Location is fantastic. Great loading area outside hotel very useful and further along street is several disabled parking spaces.

Food was poor, very little option and very little left on servery. Staff appear in short supply and the bar in the lounge isn't open all day so you need to use cafe ( you can take drinks into lounge) alcohol in cafe is in bottles not on draught. No entertainment generally, occasionally have a show. Reception area is small so easily gets crowded and double set of glass doors that are left open making the corridors above reception/entrance very chilly.

The room was spacious, the bed was big and very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent choice and very good quality bacon and sausage. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is great, just a 10/15 minute walk from the station very close to the centre and the beach - great for walks. We loved the old glamour - felt like we were in an Agatha Christie film! Beautiful staircase and chandeliers and the 'wonky' floors all gave more charm and character! We were also lucky that even though we arrived around 2pm which was 2 hours before check in time (4pm!!) luckily our room was ready. The tea/coffee in the room was good.

The check in times mean you lose a lot of time - 4pm check in is ridiculously late (though we were very lucky that our rooms were ready so we have no complaints for this stay) Check out was 10am - which is rather early considering breakfast is until 10. There was no soap in the dispenser over the bath (only small soap is provided) Only one lift was working so sometimes it took a long time to get up to the room. I booked two sea view rooms - my friend got a front facing room with a great view however my room was slightly on the side and only if you stood at the window looked to the side could you see the sea! My friend had a fridge in her room - I did not. I was also disappointed that our rooms were so far apart!

Beautiful location, as close to the beach as possible (walk down a hill). Food was well cooked and ready. Staff were friendly helpful and gave great ideas for the trip. When asked they would direct you where you needed, or make suggestions. I even asked for the number for a few taxis and the staff wrote 3 out so I had a choice. Lovely place idea go again.

Nothing really, the lift was a bit cramped, there was a little bit of dust on objects in my room and the wall paper was a bit dated and stained. There was very hot weather but no fans to help you get through the night. But it was a safe place to stay and sleep.

It's was convenient, beach only 5 mins walking distance and town centre just behind the hotel. Staff were friendly. Room was clean and the cleaner smiled evertime she saw you, she made you feel more welcome. Great variety for breakfast. In the room iron available which really helped and also a small fan did wonders after the heat we were having. Check in and check out was quick process. Carpark just across the road. I paid £12 for 24hrs stay. Thumbs up to this hotel.

The bed, creaked everytime you turned sides. The noise from outside, seagulls and then you had the pub goers, too loud. Eventually quietened down after 1am.

They have worked hard on this hotel since we last stayed and it has really improved . The locum manager was excellent as were most of the staff . We do like The Royal

On arrival a porter we met in reception could have been so much more helpful when we asked if we could leave our bags cos we were early he said pointing ‘over there but it’s at your own risk ‘ I couldn’t find where he meant but rather than just help by showing me he again pointed to the Porters sign and said Porters over there . He said no there’s no one there just leave your bags behind the counter . First impressions !!!
