The location was excellent The staff were lovely and helpful The food was well cooked and appetising The evening entertainment was good The room was clean and comfortable He drink was reasonably priced The hotel had a good buzzy atmosphere The building is old and elegant

The room was not serviced once in 4 days We had to go to reception for new toilet rolls and clean towels The food was good but slightly repetitive The breakfast ends too early at 9.30, it should go on till 10 am

We like to visit Southport and the £42 room was too good to miss. Bed breakfast and dinner for total of £87 a bargain. Room was spacious comfortable and had everything we needed.

Small elevator which was often to full making me carry luggage up/ down stairs. I am 66 and can still manage but others may not. Room furniture is a little on cheap side. For price we paid not an issue for us . Was too hot would have liked a fan . In dining room noticed a lot of people with mobility issues struggling down steps .Pillow was too bulky opted for a cushion.

Rooms was on the top floor and small, but was very clean. This is not a criticism as we had booked a late deal and didn't expect one of the hotels better rooms. Breakfast is exceptional, great value for money, I would highly recommend guests to have one. You can't get a better location being on the Lord Street, shops and restaurants right on the doorstep and train station just a few minutes walkaway.

The hotel is under going renovation work making car parking limited and guests are charged for parking . We had to find somewhere else to park the first night. We managed to park on the car park for our second day.

Carly was absolutely delightful, couldn't do enough for us, she really was a star. There is another young lady on reception whose name I didn't get, but she was also very good to us, we appreciate all they did. If someone wants super modern, this is not your place, but if you want a grand old place to stay where you wish the walls could talk and tell you their stories, this is the place for you.

My messages via booking.com were not going through to the hotel which could have given a bad impression of the PoW. However, having stayed there before I persevered and contacted them directly, I mentioned it to them so they could look into it. The food didn't look very appetising, and there was no vegetarian choice available. I know they would have come up with something had we asked...but there are so many places to eat in the area, it didn't affect our stay at all. There are not many plug sockets around, but again, it is an old building, their need for them wasn't that great back then.... again, the staff sorted an extension out for us, so that is more of a be prepared than something we didn't like.

The hotel is in an excellent location and the lighting outside at nighttime is beautiful. Every staff member that I interacted with was friendly and helped me when they were able to do so. The room was very large and the bathroom looked like it was recently renovated. The hotel is being refurbished at the moment however outside of the sight of scaffolding it had no impact on my stay.

It is an old building and unfortunately the heated towel rack is linked to the hot water that the taps and showers use. This means that it acts like a radiator and when it is 22oC outside you don't want more heat. Understandably fixing this would likely be an enourmous cost considering the buildings age. The key cards don't hold their details very well. Despite keeping the cards on their own in a seperate pocket they stopped working 3 times in 3 days and had to get recoded.

We have stayed at the Prince of Wlaes before. We love the architecture and the location. We were given a massive corner room with a newly refurbished bathroom. A big sitting room and a giant flatscreen TV. Free Internet which allowed me to stream amazon films and YouTube. TBH I can't believe what a bargain it was. We walked across the road to Westminster tearooms for a posh dining experience. On the corner outside you have a Wehterspoons and an ice cream parlour with every flavour you can imagine. You are two minutes walk from the Atkinson museum. Just a couple of hundred yards away. We had a great time on the pedalos in the boating lake and enjoyed the views from the big wheel. Nando's was another few yards away next to the cinema. Plus we found an amazing gem on our last day. A little cafe in the front of the gym near the cinema. The cafe is called Wareing brothers. The brothers are the nephews of Marcus Wareing the Michelin starred chef, and the skills obviously run in the family. Not only are the guys lovely, they have made a range of healthy food for the gym goers that will rival anything youve tasted. The breakfast burrito was amazing and they make their own granola which you have to try. Also, the staff in the Prince of Wales are really friendly and helpful. The receptionist went into the kitchen at 10pm and found some decaf teabags for us. We have had a wonderful few days in Southport. Will definitely be going back again and coming to visit the Prince of Wales. The big skies and seacoast are amazing.

Currently covered in scaffolding, but this is a good thing in the long run as it means renovation is taking place. The pier is closed due to work being done, but we sat on the seawall and watched a beautiful sunset. A lot of the shops are closing. I hope Southport can survive this downturn. There is so much beauty and history.I hope they can capitalise on things like the flower show which is still the second biggest in the country, although at one time it was the biggest in the world.

The location was fabulous. I booked for 2 rooms. I had a larger room which would have been OK for a small family. The room was spacious enough, clean and comfortable.

Regrettably the shower and bath didn't work. Little disappointed as I needed a shower in the morning so had to go to my mums room. I reported this. I knew that there were renovation s going on so wasn't that concerned as I did get a shower. The breakfast a bit disappointing. I truly don't expect ketchup and brown sauce in a bowl. Small sachet or bottles are far more hygienic. We had breakfast at weatherspoons over the road, better breakfast plus its served to you, with the option to refill your drinks. Coffee please change your supplier, it was truly bad! Also not enough tea bags.

This hotel is a faded beauty - but so long as you set your expectations at the right level it does the trick for me: well located, friendly staff, good sized rooms, value for money, clean and comfy. The family room (3 person exec suite?) was great for us as there was a separate lounge area to the bedroom so we could put our toddler to bed and still have somewhere to sit and chat and have a drink - for significantly less than £100 I call that a win.

It was a shame we weren't informed about the scaffolding in advance - but with a toddler in tow we were up long before 8am anyway!

Well I stayed at the Prince of Wales after cycling for three days from Sheffield along the Trans Pennine Trail (TPT). Most importantly the hotel had a room near the lobby to store my bike securely overnight. The TPT is a major cycling route across England so it was good to see the hotel had latched on to this feature. The hotel was very central so I was able to walk down the road and get something to eat in the evening. The room was very comfortable with a good shower and tea/coffee making facilities. In the morning I had a good breakfast, although the tea/coffee service was a bit chaotic. The hotel was also not far from the station so I was able to cycle round the corner and catch the train home. All-in-all, it was great way to finish the TPT.

The hotel looked clean, the breakfast was lovely, hot, fresh food and plenty of it. The room was nice with everything needed in it. Majority of Staff friendly and helpful.

At breakfast the coffe/tea machine was not working.. this was reported to staff who said they had fixed it but it still was nit working so opted for orange juice instead but did miss my morning cuppa. The room itself was nice but due to it being in the basement there was a weird damp like smell that could smell as soon as you entered the corridor. One member of staff (a young lady on reception I didn't manage to catch her name. She was on very early when the wedding i attended was there) was quite abrupt bordering on rude. She just did not seem interested in giving a standard level of customer service let alone a high level.
