Came for a one night stay with my 13 year old grand-daughter. When we arrived at 3:15, the room wasn't quite ready due to staff shortages but the lady on reception was very apologetic and gave us a voucher each for a free drink. Nobody's fault, it happens! We went to the pool for an hour or so then went back and booked in. The room was lovely and had a little outdoor/patio area to sit too (I had requested ground floor due to mobility issues, not realising there was a lift). Spotlessly clean and nicely set out. also very little noise considering we overlooked the car park. Breakfast was delicious. Full English with lots of everything, pastries, bread for toast, cereals, fresh fruits and yoghurts ☺

Everything was fine, just would have liked to foods to be served after 8pm in the various restaurants/bars

Every time we have stayed at Formby Hall, the staff have been friendly and very helpful. Every room we have been in has been spotless and a really good size.

The one area that is so disappointing for a 5* hotel is the food. Having to get your own tea and coffee from a cheap machine for breakfast and watered down/cheap fruit juice with pastries that had obviously been frozen and not fresh is really unacceptable. The 2 times we have had dinner at the hotel have also been very disappointing and frankly embarrassing when we had invited friends to dinner. Accommodation is definitely 5* but food 2*

The suite was very comfortable and I had plenty of room. Bathroom was also lovely with a large bath and shower. The suite also have French doors that lead out to a nice little patio area overlooking the golf course.

Im disabled so struggle with moving round so when it come meals I had them in my room now I know most places have a tray charge when you order room service but normally as I’m disabled I don’t normally have to pay. The room service also wasn’t great the food was lovely but the fist night was part of our meal we ordered a Greek salad but just received a mixed leaf the following morning fist the continental part of our breakfast was missing and following morning the English breakfast was completely wrong.

The staff here were very welcoming and polite, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were clean and beds were super comfy. The function room for our sons wedding was beautiful, and all the staff from organisers, waiters, and bar staff were very professional and polite. Thank you. The swimming pool was lovely, clean and included in the price. Would highly recommend this stay to friends and family who wish to enjoy a peaceful break.

Some family members had trouble with their air conditioning units in their rooms, maybe get maintenance team to check more often.

this hotel is absolutely amazing. I booked my daughter and her partner here for the weekend. I have never seen them so happy. they said the room was spacious and the bed was really comfortable. they loved the food and the spar treatments and the pool. the staff are lovely and go out of their way to help

they found 2 things they where not very happy with. beautiful hotel but very expensive plus the showers in the spar are not the cleanest. I booked my daughter and partner here for the weekend for an engagement present and feel for the price it could have been cleaner in the showers

Room was superb, couldn’t fault it at all. Bathroom was really generous and well equipped. We had evening meal the fish and chips were delicious. Breakfast was also very nice. Complimentary fizz in the mini bar was a bonus.

We were told we couldn’t check in until 3pm. We used the spa facilities but when I came back over to the reception to get a taxi I heard 2 other rooms book in between 2 and 2.30. Neither had booked or paid for early check in, I was disappointed that after a tiring day at the races the day before we were not given the same privilege. I asked for single beds, was told they hadn’t been pre booked but that it would be done, it wasn’t. Overall not a big issue as the bed was massive , but just a little disappointing that receptionist told me it would happen

The bedroom was amazing. Plenty of room and facilities in the room. The lounge, bar and restaurant are lovely. Everything is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The views over the golf course are stunning. The pool area is lovely and clean. Unfortunately we didn’t use the spa or golf course due to only staying for one night with a child. Food in the evening was delicious and breakfast was just as nice.

Location is ok but we didn’t find a great deal to do with children outside of the complex but very close to the beach. We wasn’t fully aware of the half board rule but it simply included £25 off the evening meal per adult, children pay full price for evening meal regardless.

Lovely hotel and facilities, an added bonus was the acoustic singer “Callum” in the bar area. I’d messaged in advance to ask if there was anything on but told no. So this was a bonus. The hotel was extremely busy due to Mothers Day lunch ( upstairs). Everyone seemed to be having a great time. We had the evening dinner which was lovely and catered for mum who is gluten free. We stayed in the bar area Sunday afternoon to take advantage of the entertainment and went over the spa on Monday. All staff were spoke to were very helpful and professional, reception, bar staff, waiting on staff and leisure staff. Thank you ps. I always leave feedback saying have a singer on as makes for a great atmosphere! Also that last time we stayed we noticed the rooms were a little dusty/ cobwebs but I know towards the end on the pandemic it was hard to hire / retain good staff. Fair to say the staff we met we’re working g hard to ensure everything was completed. Spotless this time 👍

We didn’t have a problem but some staff were waiting at the bar for a while. Nut it was Mothers Day so an even t on upstairs plus heard people complain at reception as treatments had been cancelled ( staff sickness) this has happened to us previously at a hotel on the Wirral and is disappointing! The only thing we noticed was the jacuzzi was out of order (being repaired on the Monday). PS. Perhaps out a cheeseboard on the bar menu!

This was the first time we had stayed here, but we will definitely be coming again. Although Formby Hall is less than 10 miles from our house, it felt like a proper overnight break The rooms are comfortable and very spacious - ours had its own patio overlooking the golf course. The pool is enormous by hotel standards (20m long and quite wide) and there is an excellent steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. The food was excellent, especially dinner in the evening, but afternoon tea and breakfast were also really good. The hotel is smart but the atmosphere is friendly and informal. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a base to visit Southport, Liverpool and the Sefton coast.

Only very minor quibbles - it would have been nice to go for a walk in the grounds, but because it's all golf course the area you can walk round is very restricted. Dinner service was a bit chaotic, with some diners waiting a long time between courses, but it was Valentine's Day so one of the busiest evenings of the year.

Attended a friend's wedding. Beautiful surroundings enhanced by fab weather. Great to see all the wildlife on the old course. Facilities first class and room was amazing, including free mini bar. Provision of robes and sliders for spa as well. Staff couldn't be more helpful. Will be back soon for a weekend with the wife

Nothing . All was great . From a personal point of view the wedding took precedence, so will take more time to use facilities more next time, but that was a personal issue and not the hotels.
