The hotel was exceptional, right on the sea front with golf course, staff were amazing, couldnt do enough for you, we were early, so our bags were taken and put away for us until the room was ready, then we had lunch there with a view to die for, then when our room was ready, the young man just took our cases and off he went to take them to the room, the room was small but did the job,

Only the room size, still charging over £200 for a room with the smallest window stuck in the corner of the room as it was in the attic, and a very small bathroom, with just a tiny cloakroom wash basin on the wall,

Room 36 was lovely (ground floor sea view (car park side) spacious and clean. After checking in at main desk we were escorted to our room with a staff member who kindly carried some luggage. As it was a special trip (birthday) the staff kindly left a nice surprise of two wee bottles of prosecco, which was a lovely touch. After settling in we headed down to the leisure centre to use pool and spa facilities. I was most disappointed that the jacuzzi was out of order (it seems to be the case across many leisure centres ive visited recently where the costs of running them likely to be too high as a result of the energy prices at the moment. However the receptionist advised it had broken down on the morning of our stay and it wouldnt be a few days until they got the maintenance parts required to fix it. Nevertheless we made use of the steam room and pool.) Despite it being summer, it was surprisingly quiet, there was maybe only one or two other families in. The pool is open throughout the day until 9pm, slots tend to be 2hrs each of 'family time' and adults only alternating. They have lockers which you do not need to take a £1 coin to operate and as we were staying in the hotel we were provided with robes and slippers. We forgot to take the slippers with us (i used my own flip flops), the pool reception doesn't keep spare slippers as they dont recommend you wear anything on your feet as it gets quite slippy. After about 2 hours we headed back up to room to get ready for dinner in The Rabbit restaurant. We were greeted by restaurant staff and placed at a table in the middle section. We shared a starter, a main each and shared a pudding. Although a seaside location, i would have liked to have seen a bit more selection on the menu, a chicken dish other than a curry. My mum had fish and chips and i opted for the curry. It wasnt a chicken breast curry (chopped or full breast), but still it was nice.

Room at night was too stuffy and no air conditioning. Didnt find out until check out that fans were available. Restaurant menu is perhaps too simplified and needs a bit more choice (a balmoral chicken wouldnt go amiss!) Breakfast buffet has a good selection, however when we arrived for breakfast what was left was going hard, dried out or none at all (warm food only). The jacuzzi being out of order in the leisure centre.

The location and surroundings.

The bar drinks menu was poor. Not enough choice or better choice of beers on tap. The cocktails were very poor. The breakfast was not great either. The bacon was rock hard, scrambled egg was poor and cold, as were the tomatoes. I ordered room service for a cheese pizza, only to get a call saying the had none of the advertised pizzas available. I got one that was not on any menu that I saw & it was very poor, especially for the cost of it and tray charge. I also felt some of the bar staff ignored to give us table service and this was from senior members of the staff, it was the younger members who were excellent Hannah and I do not know the other boys name, they were a credit to the hotel.

We were there for our wedding anniversary and required a complimentary upgrade which was lovely! We had a sea view and the suite was very spacious. The staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast had a good variety to choose from, plus delicious cooked options. We dined in the restaurant one evening - food was excellent. The lounge bar was very comfortable for sitting around in to have a few drinks before/after dinner. Complimentary game on the mini putting green at the front was fun! Pool and spa area was very clean, if not particularly fancy. Jacuzzi has a lovely view out to sea! My husband used the gym and said it had good options for working out.

We intended to dine in the lounge bar for our second evening but the choices were mainly a selection from the other menu (we would have preferred a bit more variety to choose from). The pool and spa were very clean and perfectly adequate but perhaps not as luxurious a feel as some 'spa hotels' - but perhaps not the focus at this hotel so not really an issue, and still perfectly comfortable to lounge around at.

It was a very lovely Hotel with friendly staff. We felt welcome as soon as we arrived and attended to well throughout our weeks stay. The spa facilities are great and easily accessible through the hotel lobby. We spent some time in the Seal Bar during our stay and found it amazing, it has a great food menu which is available to order from all day and the bar staff were happy to make custom cocktails for us and even suggested some we may enjoy. Breakfast available each morning where staff were very attentive and quick to serve tea or coffee and any hot food we wanted.

Lovely hotel and decor. Feels very special. Friendly and helpful staff. They let us have a late check out which we really appreciated. Great breakfast! Good choice, and high quality ingredients. Food and drinks were v good in general. We ate in both restaurants several times and were not disappointed. Enjoyed the swimming pool area too. We found the best time to go was between 7 and 8pm, as it was nice and quiet. Again, staff were v friendly.

Room was on the smaller side, but the decor was really nice so it didn't bother us at all. We couldn't book into the main restaurant on the first night as they were full (good sign but a little disappointing, although it was a Saturday so that's probably our bad for not being more organised). We also couldn't get a spa appointment for any treatments as they were also fully booked. Again, it was slightly disappointing but just shows it's good! The general area in and around Troon was nice, but we walked to Ayr and thought it had very little to offer. Just something to keep in mind!

First time in the hotel. Excellent standard of overall service and facilities. Very comfortable bed and room in a lovely location. Unfortunately I didn't have great window view but I knew that before I booked and it didn't matter as you can walk downstairs to the bar and get fantastic views. Particular highlights were the friendly staff, the comfy large bed, the lovely food in addition to the WiFi for my daughter and sky sports for me.

Only down point was the wait for breakfast from the kitchen on the Saturday morning but the serving staff were attentive. Not much they could do about the kitchen.

We booked a Double room with seaview, however, we arrived at night & it was a car park view. So, we went back down & got upgraded by the lovely lady night receptionist Joan to the Carmichael Suite, which was fabulous, with separate living room & bedroom areas. What I liked about this hotel was the decor in the lobby, breakfast, bar areas, traditional & tastefully finished. Gave us New England, Maine, Old Course Hotel & Troon vibes. We live in Dubai, so refreshing to experience traditional interior. There is a beautiful golf course between the hotel & sea, doesn’t hinder the seaview from any floor on a clear day. The bed was extremely comfortable, TV in both rooms. Very spacious rooms & a lovely bath with high quality Floris of London toiletries. Breakfast was fab and comes with a view. We visited the gym, pool areas both open & there is a pool table in a lovely decorated area. All staff were great, for Scotland, they were great, kudos. The hotel is very fortunate to have such diligent employees. I would visit again but I’d only book the Suites, seems the double or king bedrooms isn’t as advertised. Be careful with pristine pictures, might present a false reality.

For a hotel built in 1800’s, there’s bound to be 1 or 2 issues. Part of the door lock in bathroom was coming off on both sides. The carpet in our room needs a change for sure, I have allergies and they flared up immediately. The art pieces on the wall in our room were very lazy, no character.

Magical stay, we had a corner suite outstanding view on 2 aspects, and the suite was immaculate and very comfortable, we also had a couples massage Barbara's hands worked miracles felt like a new person afterwards. We also made full use of the spa which was an added bonus, also have to say the scrambled eggs with the scrumptious breakfast were like eating little clouds. Staff were well trained , professional and super friendly and welcoming

That I had to leave ..could have happily stayed there in the lap of luxury

Room view and food was good. Service at dinner and breakfast was also good. A very nice hotel

I phoned on a Sunday afternoon at about 3pm and couldn’t get an answer. I listened to music for about 20 minutes having hung up twice. I was trying to get in touch with reception and was never answered. Reservations answered but couldn’t help since they weren’t at the hotel so couldn’t answer my query. I eventually gave up. Not good enough and there can be no reason for a first class hotel to have nobody answering calls on a Sunday afternoon
