Situated right in the centre of this pretty Cornish city, a two minute walk from Truro Cathedral and my own destination, The Hall For Cornwall. The Barley Sheaf operates as a normal pub, and a very nice one too, I spent a leisurely afternoon watching the Test Match on their large screen. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Not sure how many rooms that they operate but it' a small number. The room was spotless, the bed was comfortable and the shower was very reviving after a night of fun! The staff apologised for not providing breakfast but it was no problem as the pub is surrounded by eateries of all types from pasties and and sandwiches to curries and burritos! I fully recommend this establishment and will happily return again

The location was in the city centre close to everything. Lot's of good pubs and plenty of shops. The rooms were above the pub which was very nice and the beer garden was right next to a river. Didn't eat or have a drink at the hotel but wish we did.

The car park across the road from the hotel which is owned by the council was very confusing. The seagulls were very noisy and wasn't expecting them as we were inland and away from the coast. Most parts of Cornwall businesses shut early which we found strange especially being in the middle of the school summer holidays. As Cornwall makes most of it's money from tourism in the spring and summer months we didn't get it.

Very good value.Lovely big room, comfy bed and sofa. Even though the TV was on very loud in the bar below our room we could hear absolutely nothing. Kettle with tea and coffee provided, with extra available in the hallway. Great location, near the cathedral so easy to get to all areas. Right next to and opposite some great restaurants, ending up in the Tapas opposite. Recommend you book though.

Shame they no longer provide breakfast. Beware on a Sunday morning, there are not a lot of places open. We ended up at Cafe Nero, otherwise it would have been Weatherspoons. Some information needs updating, on Booking.com. it states check in from 3pm, check out 10-10.30am. Check in is actually from 4pm and check out up to 10am. Also in room, WiFi password given in full capitals but as stated by notice in the hallway only the first letter is capital.

Nice room in extremely central location (a stone's throw from the Cathedral and city centre). Easy access to rooms via the pubs rear entrance.

Was there a week but room was only serviced once, the room was very clean, but it would have been nice to have it cleaned and toiletries replenished more than once.

Great central location, even though it’s above a bar you couldn’t hear any noise in the room or people downstairs in the pub or outside. Lovely and clean room/en-suite bathroom. Private access to all guests staying in the accommodation. A warm and comfortable room. Would definitely stay again.

Only a small criticism, I wasn’t able to open my room window. Also would be nice to have tea/coffee throw away stirrers, I was lucky to have brought my own spoon. But everything else was lovely and nothing major I would change.

The room was very clean and comfortable and had everything that I needed for my stay including free bottles of water and biscuits. The staff were very friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough to make me feel welcomed. They were very informative and gave me the names of people to contact if there was an emergency over night and showed me the fire exits and directions to the meeting point in the event of a fire. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed during my visit but the staff gave me a list of local restaurants and takeaways close by. If I had any questions they were happy to answer them.

There was nothing I didn't like.

Only stayed for one night as pert of 2 night stay in Cornwall for gig @ Eden project. Room was spacious, very clean & tidy with comfy beds. Bathroom excellent and again very roomy. Excellent value for money, considering central location in Summer. Rooms part of really nice pub/bar building.

Could do with a proper fan in room. Stayed warmest night of year (so far) and the cooler function on fan heater was like having a hamster wafting a newspaper!! ;o) :D

Location was excellent right beside the cathedral, car park next door (evenings only) but multi story 5 min walk away so ideal for parking. Staff friendly, shower was excellent I want one! Very central to centre but quiet. Lovely eating places around. Indian opposite was excellent as was Sams in the City around the corner.

First impression of the room was not great! the room was great and had obviously been cleaned. But there were crumbs over the settee and bedspread. But I didnt complain as it was just one of those things! just brushed them onto the floor! If the room was expensive probably would have complained.

Unfortunately, there is no breakfast, or parking on site. However, parking is availiable in a public carpark opposite the pub, (30 second walk) and from 17.00 to 9.00 (overnight) it is free. There are plenty of restaurants, eateries nearby. The room was very comfortable and clean.

The location was perfect, right in the middle of town. While I didn't get to enjoy food or drink at the bar, if I had more time it looked like a great place to have a pint and bit to eat. Staff was really friendly on arrival.

I missed in the description that it's above a bar, so I wasn't quite prepared for the noise. Stayed mid-week so it wasn't that bad, but I can imagine if you're caught off guard on a weekend it might be more of a problem.
