Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, so were the breakfast waiting staff, who gave a wonderful service.

At dinner on the first night I asked for a (second) glass of prosecco during the meal, three times, and still it did not arrive! In the end I gave up asking and didn't bother as we had finished eating. I commented on this on the way out and the chap at the dining room reception simply said " oh so sorry about that" in a jovial sort of way, absolutely no sincerity, and no offer to actually go and get the glass at that point to try and rectify the situation! Whoever trains the breakfast staff needs to look at the evening service in the dining room, chalk and cheese in my opinion. We went out for dinner for the other two nights as a result.

The Alverton hotel is one of the top hotels we stayed at! Everything was perfect and exceeded our expectations: the hotel is gorgeous with a beautiful outside area and a great restaurant (breakfast and diner were delicious!) and bar facilities; our room was perfect with a really comfortable bed and a great bathroom (with an amazing shower!); and all the hotel staff we talked to was absolutely nice, helpful and immediately assisted us with a couple of queries we had. This is really the place to stay when coming to Truro: absolutely worth the money!

Nothing! Very happy we stayed there for 4 nights. To be noted: if a wedding reception happens at the same time as your stay (that was our case), the hotel gets a bit crowded with difficult access to the bar and terrace outside and pretty loud music in the evening until midnight. However we were fortunate that our room was not facing the terrace so we were not that bothered and, as previously mentioned, the party stopped at midnight.

The room far exceeded expectations and because we arrived sooner than expected, the receptionist even arranged for the room to be ready earlier. So kind. The classic room was big, room service excellent, towels , toiletries etc changed regularly , bath robes in wardrobe, and it was spotlessly clean.The staff were courteous, very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The gardens were beautiful but unfortunately it wasn’t warm enough to sit on the terrace. It must be perfect in the summer. Loved the hotel. One of the best I’ve ever stayed in.

Nothing. Perhaps the downside was it was a bit further from the coast than I’d have liked.

Rarely have I stayed in a hotel in the UK where the staff were as attentive and switched on as here. It was a real pleasure staying here.

Nothing much. There was some noise on the first night but they had a function in the great hall. Do not use the post code to arrive - my (BMW) Sat Nav took me to the back of the hotel where there is no way in and it is down a very narrow lane which one has to then either turn around in or reverse up. Program GPS for the centre of Truro - the hotel will appear on the right - but you will need to perform a u turn around a nearby roundabout as it is on the other side of a dual carriageway.

Nice looking building with lots of parking. Quite close to town, we walked in to have a look around and eat. Aside from the short hill up the driveway the majority of the walk was flat ish. There is a Shell garage only a short walk away as well if you forget anything.

Had to get rid of at least 12 spiders before my girlfriend would sleep. The hotel had all the windows open to cool it down but lots of spiders in the room and hallways. Parking is up a hill so if you have lots of luggage it might make sense to drop it at the door.

Beautful room, same one as last time. With a huge arched, historic window overlooking the gardens. We had a small dinner served in the bar area. Service was slow and food took a while to arrive. All freshly made to order. We probably noticed the delay more because we were very tired. Lovely stay overall, thank you.

Service at breakfast was VERY slow. We had booked an early slot as we were off to work, so this was very disappointing. Not many tables full, so hard to explain why. Food at breakfast also disappointing. Bacon over cooked and very tough. Mushrooms very tough. I've never had tough mushrooms before. Also veggie breakfast not as good as before.... Strangely mediocre and slow breakfast, which is a shame.

Beautiful, quiet room looking out onto the lush green garden, so not an expansive view but very calming and lovely. The breakfast was fantastic, delicious and I could have any combination I desired. I enjoyed it very much. The staff were amiable, kind and efficient. I was very impressed by the quality of the service, the beauty of the building and the unpretentious friendliness of the staff. There was also plenty of tea, coffee and milk in the room, and a nice little history of the place was provided, and very interesting.

I can't fault my stay.

Everything about this place is just perfect, from arrival to checkout. Top standard surroundings, staff & décor. The rooms are to die for, spacious and lush bedding, towels, bath robes and slippers, great bathroom, surprise room-service to wish me a happy birthday, the breakfast in the morning was delicious. Everything is perfect about this place. This was our 5th time staying here and I have never, ever been disappointed about anything.

There was only one minor, tiny, teeny little thing missing and that was the lack of a pen in the room to fill out my feed-back form for the hotel. My review is 100% positive, nothing whatsoever at fault, and I wanted the staff to know how happy I was for my birthday stay at their hotel. But if I didn't have a pen in my handbag I may not have been able to let them know what a fantastic job the whole team at The Alverton are doing. BUT for the sake of a missing pen, I can not fault this place and I hope to be back soon again.

the staff was excellent. Yamea and Hannah in particular. A beautiful old hotel.

some things missing to make it on a par with a first class hotel, which it can be. the emphasis seems to be on hosting weddings, special events, and their restaurant. The breakfast is subpar. there should be at least a partial buffet. the bar has a poor choice of snacks, and no ‘munchies’ are served; the staff was poorly trained to respond to options for cocktail mixers.

The room was fantastic, large and clean so was the bathroom When we arrived the hotel had left us a card and a bottle of fizz for our anniversary. The staff were really helpful and friendly and a total credit to the hotel. The food was fantastic We will be coming back

Though the food was excellent I think the kitchen was very over stretched. For 2 evenings my husbands order was wrong One evening he had sticky toffee pudding instead of Christmas pudding, the other evening he had turkey with no potatoes and this morning our order was missed.
