The staff were exemplary. The service was very, very good. Great ambiance and the location was fantastic. The restaurant was excellent, great food and wonderful wines. Well.... it should have great wine shouldn't it? Finally, when we had a slight issue with maintenance in our room they took care of it immediately. Top marks there!

There were things I did not like. We stayed in the Cristal Suite. If you wanted to use the toilet during the night, as there was no door between the bedroom/toilet, your partner was woken up if you switched the bathroom lights on. Secondly it was one big room - not a bedroom with a separate lounge. So, not a suite as such. Long flights of stairs to get there, which was not great. And £15.00 a night to park in the hotel car park as a guest? Really awful, and they have the temerity to ask you to pay up immediately when you check in. A complete rip-off. Finally, when you're charging a fairly serious amount of money per night for a "suite", stop this grasping attitude of asking the guest to pay "up front" for everything. You managed to make me feel untrustworthy.

The hotel itself is beautiful, with a historic feel that really captures the essence of York. My room was spacious and elegantly decorated, with all the amenities I could need, including a comfortable bed, a large TV, and a well-appointed bathroom. The highlight of my stay, however, was definitely the Bistro. The food was absolutely delicious, with a range of options to choose from, including locally sourced produce and a fantastic selection of wines. The service in the Bistro was also exceptional, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who really made me feel at home. In addition to the great food and accommodations, the Hotel Du Vin & Bistro York also offers a range of amenities and activities, including a spa, a fitness center, and a beautiful courtyard garden. The hotel is conveniently located near a range of local attractions, including the York Minster and the York Castle Museum. Overall, I would highly recommend the Hotel Du Vin & Bistro York to anyone looking for a luxurious and relaxing stay in York. The combination of beautiful surroundings, exceptional service, and delicious food make it a truly unforgettable experience. I can't wait to come back and stay again!

lovely hotel , room was cosy and comfortable Room service in the evening was yummy as was breakfast the following day . location was great for a walk into town . staff friendly and attentive especially the waitress at brekkie 😊

lamp at desk/ dressing table didn’t work , no plug for bath which was frustrating as took away the option of a bath , when we’d purposely chosen a room with a bath . Black Mould on bathroom windowsill , running up the wall and along the outside of the bath . whilst I appreciate this is something old buildings suffer with it’s really unpleasant for guests .

Very nice hotel with excellent staff and customer service, close to the city centre with car parking for a small fee. Breakfast was over priced so didn’t bother as there are plenty of places available for better value in York. Very large comfortable bed, excellent.

This is the second time we have stayed here. Last year the room was very clean and fresh. The second time not so much. The room was very dusty and the bathroom was grubby, the bath plug hole was full of dirt causing the bath to fill when showering.

Our room was excellent, it was large and comfortable. Furnishings were good quality. The bed was great.The free standing bath was excellent as was the bathroom. There was a fridge, smart tv, tea & coffee making facilities. Our dinner in the Bistro was excellent, especially the monkfish. Staff were always helpful and pleasant, nothing appeared to be too much trouble.

Housekeeping during the day was an issue, laundry bags and cleaning equipment seemingly abandoned in the corridors and on the landing were encountered daily. The shower needed the drain unblocking and the connections from the tap to the shower head tightening. We opted for not having the room cleaned during our stay and we’re rewarded with a complimentary glass of wine, however, this meant that tea & coffee supplies weren’t replenished. No fresh milk in the fridge either, but reception sorted this without fuss (in a jug which wasn’t ideal).

Staying at Hotel du Vin in York is a bit like staying in a country mansion. Very calm, nice décor and furnishings - a relaxing place to stay. My room, Pol Roger, was very comfortable, with a balcony and was nice and quiet. There was posh coffee (Taylor's coffee bags) and posh biscuits on the hospitality tray as well as 2 bottles of mineral water. The location of the hotel was good for me as it's a short walk to the station and an even shorter walk to The Crescent, where I went to see Pavilion play their farewell gig. Breakfast was very nice with great service and all the staff were really friendly and helpful.

A minor quibble: the Wi-Fi was ok but an unsecure network. I know hotel Wi-Fi networks tend to be unsecure but a premium hotel like Hotel du Vin should offer a secure network. It obviously won't stop me from staying here again, though.

Great location, good parking, for future reference dog friendly, good standard of rooms, very good Bistro.

There were a few little niggles, we had the Valentines dinner, our sides were served without serving spoons, we asked for some but none came. At breakfast the following morning we were given a table that wasn’t fully set and ready, we had no butters, no milk and no teapot, we had to separately ask for items that were clearly provided on other tables - only small things but just detracted from our stay which would have had a 5 star rating. The reception staff were lovely and very helpful.

Quality of the room and location of the hotel was excellent. Car parking was plentiful and they let us park there several hours before the official check in time so that we could walk into town to do some sightseeing.

We were intending to eat at the hotel but the menu was very disappointing ...overpriced and the vegetarian options were really limited and a bit weird: £14 for 'heritage carrots and feta'? That's just not a main course. Try The Old Siam just up on Micklegate for a great Thai meal instead.

Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size and on the whole comfortable.

Whilst comfortable, the suite we had was starting to show its age. No mirror in the bathroom, floor standing lamp blown, no USB charge sockets and on the 1st morning the hotel wifi system went down (not good when you are on a "work break". In addition, the car park has overhanging trees which deposited sap over my car, necessitating a car wash when we left.

The location was excellent, once we had got our bearings of the city , we realised Micklegate was a 5 minute walk away and we were very central. Room was spacious and really comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. A really good choice of hot and continental food. Plenty of parking spaces for £10 per night.

We were in an annex of the main building and the outside door was not locked at night.
