Absolutely brilliant place, room was spacious, clean and very comfortable, plenty of towels and spare linen and a nice big Bath and even a rocking chair! That brought back memories 😆. Food in the actual pub was spectacular all homemade local produce, Bangers and mash i had was the best. Staff were very friendly and kind, shout out to Midget the dog always coming to say hello to the new patrons! We shall definitley be coming back and made my partners last day here in the UK very special and one to remember. Thanks for everything! Alex and Tania
Nothing! Was spectacular nothing bad to report : )

The property was clean, comfy and easy to access. Whilst the bay horse is situated above a pub and on a fairly busy road it was surprisingly really quiet. It is a little walk from the centre of everything and if you don’t want a walking break there is a bus stop literally across the road. There is a quaint little cinema across there too. Unfortunately we didn’t get time to enjoy the food or a few pints in the bar because we only spent one night there but the staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and informative. They also had hot chocolate sachets in the room which was a nice touch as my partner doesn’t drink tea or coffee and after a day of walking around in the typical Great British weather it was nice to sit in bed and enjoy a nice little treat. The bed was comfortable and there is a smart tv in the room so we weren’t confined to the usual free view. The bathroom had a bath and shower, it was really spacious and very clean. The added touches to the room were really welcoming and homely. We would happily stay here again.
There was nothing we didn’t like about the property but if we were to be really picky (and this is very picky), the toilet seat and toilet roll holder were loose but it did not effect the function so it wasn’t an issue.

Welcoming staff, all so friendly throughout our stay. Good selection of beer at the bar which was also lovely with a great beer garden . They also took out bag in why we pottered about before popping back for drinks before we caught the train. Also the room was above our expectations. Large in size and comfortable.we stayed in the deluxe room. Price for two nights was great too . Walking distance to station as well. Spoons Very nearby and a Sainsbury's opposite!
N/A loved it all. Would stay again and also recommend to friends who stay in York often.

Fantastic experience. Great location, a 5-minute walk away from the train station. Atmospheric, as the rooms are on the first floor of the same building as the pub downstairs. Well-appointed rooms, especially the larger ones at the end of the corridor. Walking distance from the historic city center (Shambles Market, etc.). The pub doesn't do food, but there are plenty of options within a couple of minutes' walk. Finally, very pleasant and accommodating service. Very prompt and responsive in their online communication, even arranging an early check-in and late check-out for our family. The lady who arranged the rooms for us was very helpful and lovely to deal with. All in all, incredible experience. Highly recommended.
Nothing.

The Bay Horse is a quirky old building with modern amenities. The pub downstairs has a great selection of beers and the food is awesome. I enjoyed my stay. The host was great and totally met my needs. Lovely people. Great bed. Great bathroom with excellent hot water. I'm 5'11" and cleared the ceiling but you wouldn't want to be a lot taller.
Noise from the pub comes into the rooms but they close around 10 so it is perfect for an uninterrupted sleep. You get a bit of street noise from outside but it's a quiet area at night picking up around 7am.

Very convenient for the races. Tea and coffee was plentiful and bed was very comfy It was a bonus being able to park our car really early for only £10. Staff very welcoming and friendly. We had a superb breakfast at a great little cafe called Bruberrie bar and cafe just across the road. Well worth a visit
It was very noisy as we had to have the window open but we were on a main road. There needs to be a grab rail on the wall to help with getting out of the shower. Rooms were just ok but bit out dated.

I loved how the room felt, it was cozy and decorated nicely. It was in a great place, close to pubs and food outlets and not too far of a walk from the town or station which is how we got there. The price for the room wasn’t too bad as it was ideal for us. However parking does cost at the place but this didn’t affect us as we travelled on the train. Lovely atmosphere and comfortable bed and lots of space within the room to unpack and organise. Also had a small dressing table area which was a nice touch for me.
It was slightly noisy at night but that can’t be helped and didn’t affect us that much as we fall asleep quickly anyway! The shower was also quite slippy even when no shampoo residue was on it, we had to be a bit careful. Nothing negative there, just feedback!

The staff/owner was very accommodating for us on our arrival day for coming in early. They were super friendly when we arrived and were great to chat to and the same on check out. Have 0 complaints about the room, the room was quite large, our shower very large which was an unexpected bonus. It was clean and cosy. We would definitely recommend here and thank you to the people who run this place :)
Nothing in particular

We like the room and ease of entry. Staff extra friendly. Rooms above the bars, it stated it was noisy and it was, but only during open hours. Close walk into the city centre and railway station.
There was no breakfast available. It's on a busy main road, so traffic noise was loud. We also didn't like to pay extra for parking. But to be fair it's a very small carpark. We would have preferred it to be included in the price on booking

We were in room 1 which was at the side of the building. Very comfortable, excellent shower, no noise from road or from bar downstairs on a Monday evening. Warm welcome on arrival, friendly staff in the bar, good beer. Tea, coffee, milk etc in room and we were told where we could find additional supplies. 10 minute walk to station and 15 minutes into town. Would definitely use again.
