The staff were very friendly, the hotel was located in an ideal spot, the first room was not up to standard but staff upon arrival changed our room without hesitation and gave us complimentary drinks.. the rooms could do with an upgrade to be fair and our fan in bathroom wasn't working and every time we tried to use the key to unlock the door it didn't work so we had to go down for a replacement key card , beds were clean and comfortable but did hear the cleaning staff swearing regarding a dirty room next door and made it known they wasn't happy by their language which I found very unprofessional. We were told when leaving the hotel was due to close for a refurbishment. Would any of this put us off staying again ?absolutely not .. .

Our stay was very good. Staff were. Very welcoming, facilities were very good. Clean and spacious, towels shampoo body wash was provided TV internet, and breakfast was 10/10 I would certainly recommend a stay here, only a short distance from town center, plenty of info leaflets staff always on hand to answer questions, & parking available at the back of there's one thing I'd wish were different, it would be a bigger car park. But it still worked for us. And disabled badges are free parking. The best part though is they are a pet friendly hotel, & so was able to bring my little hound with us and she loved it as much as we did. Would definitely come bk.

Bigger car. Park

I loved the location, not far from the centre of York. I asked for a quiet room and that’s what we got, nice and comfortable and clean, with a good sized TV, tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, fan and extra pillows. Staff are really polite and friendly, both on reception desk and in the café We managed to get payable parking on site but it’s a small carpark and very busy so you do have to get there early and hope for the best. Breakfast was lovely, lots of choice. Everything was piping hot, very clean and the main focal point for me was a Nutella dispenser (genius). I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and staying here again in the future.

One problem is limited parking facilities. We were lucky as we got there and managed to find a space but it did cost an extra £20 (£10 per night) on top of the hotel cost which makes it quite expensive, although I’m aware that it would cost us a lot more to park on a public car park and it also gives peace of mind that your car is safe. I did find the lift on the small side but that’s because I don’t like confined spaces!

Room was so much better than expected, we had a family room, too big for us to be honest. They lent us a cot for our baby. Everything was clean. Good location, it is not in the centre but close to the train station; York is not so big, so in 30 minutes walking you go everywhere you need. Staff was nice and helpful too. Breakfast was good, not excellent but good

Can't complain much, as we were happy during our stay. Maybe, lift is a bit small and the second one was not working, but I'm sure they'll sort it out soon. I would add some hooks in the bathroom to hang the towels

We arrived a little earlier than expected room was ready and we were pleased with it nice and clean and plenty of space the bathroom was nice and clean and the shower was great and we liked they had extra pillows. Staff was really friendly and informative. the location was a little further out than we usually do but we were happy with it. The breakfast was nice and a variety of things to choose from and we found the staff helpful and had no problems with seating . It was also really useful we could have the late checkout. The rooms were cleaned each day with clean towels.

We found the duvet on bed not warm enough and we were cold a couple of nights a little more frustrating was the heating was not working properly and the room was cold and the window was left open each day made the room very cold when we arrived in later at night having been out all day enjoying the sights of a beautiful city. One thing that might be useful is be careful in the shower as the floor in the shower very slippery (but you can get a mat to use from reception) but feel it maybe should be in the room.

Our room was beautifully clean modern and had everything we needed. Staff were friendly helpful and attentive. Check in was extremely quick and easy. Breakfast is served until 12 which was perfect for us. Breakfast had a great selection with lots of choice including both cooked full English and continental and cereals. Check out is slightly later at 12 also which made our stay feel more relaxed. We stayed in room number 2 which is on the ground floor which again suited us perfectly. Although on the ground floor opposite the lift our room was very quiet and soundproof the windows let in no noise. The blackout blinds made the room lovely and dark and it was nice and cool we slept extremely well on both nights. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was modern and the shower was powerful The cleaner was very efficient and when we returned the bed had been made and towels were replaced for fresh ones. It was my partners birthday and we were given 2 complimentary drinks and balloons were left in our room which was a lovely touch and added to making our trip a little more special. The bar was cosy and inviting and the barman lent us a bottle opener to take back to our room which was helpful. Also there is bag storage so we could leave our cases after check out and enjoy more of York. The location was excellent (slight distance from the main part of York and the shambles) but a stone throw from Sainsbury's local, some restaurants highly recommend La Terrazzina, fast food places, pubs and the Everyman cinema and close to the train station.

There was no bathroom bin which I would have liked. Towels were very small. TV didn't go very loud and was unable to connect TV to the WiFi to stream TV from Netflix and iPlayer etc which was a little bit inconvenient. The toaster in the buffet area was hard to use and burnt the toast on every attempt.

Fast check in and check out. Staff was super friendly. Clean and spacious room. Its location is perfect as it's less than 10 minutes walk from the city centre.

Only minor complaint is that the curtain didn't close all the way leaving a tiny gap where light would shine through but it wasn't like a crazy amount, so nothing that bothered us that much. The lobby was a bit loud in the evening with some guests hanging out there drunk and nobody said anything to them. Luckily we couldn't hear them up in our room when we went to bed. The bed and pillows weren't the most comfortable ones or at least not as comfortable as we hoped.

I honestly believe we were upgraded, this room was way nicer than the one we booked (which still looked amazing anyway). The room was huge and spacious, with beautiful artwork in a sort of studio style apartment. The beds were super comfy, the decor beautiful, the staff incredibly friendly. Check in and out times were very generous, and the all you can eat buffet style breakfast was amazing. The location is 20 minutes walk from the main shopping centre, and very close to the train station. Lovely area, not much noise from the streets. Next time we're in York, we are booking here again for sure.

There was nothing I really disliked. Room maybe took a little longer to heat up at night due to the high ceilings, but that was it really.

Breakfast - Good. Ample amounts, kept nicely warm and all the drinks machines were in working order. The staff kept an eye on everything and quickly kept the area clean and welcoming as guests left the area. The curtains in the room were excellent, keeping light out when required. Our room was cleaned during our stay and the staff did a really good job.

The building looks like it could do with a refurb. In the room there were elements that were shabby, i.e. the bathroom mirror surround was coming away, the shower screen wasn't snug and let water out, the heater was not adjustable being either off or full on, the window closures were loose and awkward to use, the door slammed really loudly when closing, the toilet lever in our room was loose and needs adjusting or replacing so that it flushed every time. The car park was not suited to modern users with their large cars. Even though I don't have a large car surrounding cars blocked us in and I was unable to open my doors when required. One of the lifts was erratic for use, sometimes closing and opening the doors without going to the required floor.

Me and my partner thought the location of the hotel was perfect. The breakfast at the ibis was great, I am a vegetarian so the staff were able to cook some veggie sausages for me every morning which was appreciated and also there was a good range of breakfast available. The room size was perfect, enough room to walk around and the TV in the room was a smart TV and was able to connect to Netflix, YouTube, BBC player etc..

The only thing that was a negative was the pillows provided were too soft so it was a little uncomfortable for our liking.
