Clean place, very friendly staff. Great location and on the cheaper side that close to downtown. Overall a very pleasant experience; we would definitely stay there again.
The room we were in was probably the smallest I've ever stayed in. Also, weirdly, you cannot get free coffee in the lobby. You have to pay like $4 for the same coffee you could have brewed in your room from the restaurant. Not sure if the restaurant review should be included, but service was also very slow (inexperienced on all fronts; I don't think it was being intentionally inattentive) at the restaurant and they had a waitress without bar experience bartending so she wasn't a huge help recommending things when they also didn't stock the alcohol to make my very basic go-to drink or back-up go-to (did not have Chambord, Coconut Rum, or Pineapple juice - I'm not asking for anything off-the-wall).

I loved the details! Like the wallpaper in the bathrooms and the darkening shades. Thoughtful touches and the shampoos smelled amazing! We had a great server in the restaurant for dinner. The valets were wonderful as well! I loved having the choice to park in a locked garage. That made me feel so at ease during my stay. We were there for graduation, sharing the photo from outside the property below. It was perfect!
The only thought for improvement that I had was the dress for staff, the servers had uniforms and were great, same for the valet, but some of the other staff had some very eclectic wardrobe choices. It just didn’t seem to fit with the property. Which was lovely! That’s just my opinion though coming from a hospitality background.

The Slate is in an ideal location for downtown fun, especially if attending a conert or ballgame at Coors field. Valet parking was easy to access, and the 16th Street shuttle is just three blocks away. The school theme is really fun, esepcially for those of us old enough to remember things such as typewriters and card catalogs. The breakfast at the Teacher's Lounge was very good - excellent service and a nice variety of offerings, including options for gluten-free folks. Very quiet.
The room was a bit small, and the shower temperature was quite variable.

This hotel, a restored school building, is a unique twist for a city hotel. They've kept many of the school details, which made it fun. The interior was standard modern chain hotel style - nothing offense or unique. The location is close to everything but not particularly close to any one attraction. We were driving multiple locations and felt it was very centrally located.
The parking situation isn't ideal. Valet parking is very expensive. The lots close by are more expensive than advertised and feel exposed. There is street parking with meters, with very long enforced times.

The shared spaces were beautifully appointed. The fireplace was gorgeous, the furnishings were beautiful, and the bar was inviting The building is historic and served as a school for many many many years. It has been beautifully updated and everything was new and clean. The staff was so nice. The manager brought us cookies and ice cream for dessert and the ambiance was very friendly. I had a skirt steak over a Cesar salad that was very tasty in the restaurant.
They need to inform guests that there are pulldown blackout shades available and inform the guests how to make them work. It is very hard to go and stay asleep without the shades since it is so bright on the street at night and the large windows let in an enormous amount of light. I wish they had a swimming pool.

What can you say, my wife is a teacher...she thought she died and went to heaven. The reconfiguration of the school is awesome and the rooms are totally cool and reminiscent of their past. The food options were good and the late bar is nice. Good setting to hang outside in the urban evening and relax.
The place is really well done. With that, the price tag is slightly higher than I would classify as fitting the venue. But you are in downtown Denver and near lots of fun stuff to do.

Aesthetically very well executed, great use of space in the rooms, beds and linens were very comfortable. Fireplace in the lobby and front “porch” are great. Front desk and housekeeping staff were all very friendly.
If I were to say anything even slightly negative, I guess the location is a little off putting but also not the worst. I rode a scooter most of the day one day and just made sure I got back to the hotel before dark. Easy breezy.

You do have to pay for breakfast, but you have a good few options, and it's fairly priced. Since it is cooked at their restaurant in the lobby, it's fresh and hot when you get it. Plus, you can call room service for breakfast and get it brought to your room if you don't have time to go downstairs. It's close to a few things that are within walking distance, and the old-school house vibe of the hotel is great!
It is a little higher priced, but it's worth it compared to other hotels in the area. You have to pay for parking at the property and it can get pricey.

Not only did we feel super nostalgic from staying in a hotel that used to be a school, the staff was incredibly nice and accommodating! We received a text every day asking how our experience was and if we needed any assistance. The food and drinks were great too! And the 24 hour market was very convenient. Great property and stay overall!

It's conveniently located near multiple tourist attractions. Its proximity to the Mint made it especially easy to swing by in the morning for tickets and return later in the day for the tour. The only thing that would have made it better location-wise is if there was a grocery/market closer by. There is a small market within the hotel for necessities and snacks, but obviously, expect hotel pricing. The staff was a pleasure to interact with. I especially appreciated the man responsible for drinks at breakfast. I'm sorry I didn't catch his name, but he was a joy to speak with each morning.
The glow from the refrigerator display was a little annoying while trying to sleep, but after the first night, I got used to it. (I tried and failed to block it out with a towel.)
