I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Goodbread House Bed and Breakfast, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality and an atmosphere that exuded both charm and comfort. One of the highlights of my stay was undoubtedly the delectable breakfast offerings. Each morning, I eagerly looked forward to waking up to a delightful spread that catered to various tastes. From freshly baked cookies to hearty breakfast casserole and of course pancakes with perfectly brewed coffee, the breakfast at Goodbread House was an absolute treat. The innkeepers' attention to detail was evident in every bite, making it a truly memorable way to start each day. Speaking of memorable, the room I stayed in was an absolute gem. Tastefully decorated with a blend of classic elegance themed in Gone with The Wind. It provided a cozy haven that was a pleasure to return to after a day of exploring the local area. The attention to detail in the room was outstanding, and the comfortable bed ensured a restful night's sleep. The exceptional service I received during my stay at Goodbread House deserves special mention. The innkeeper went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my visit was taken care of. Her genuine warmth and willingness to accommodate any requests made me feel right at home. Whether it was providing recommendations for nearby restaurants or ensuring that I had everything I needed, their attentiveness added an extra layer of comfort to my stay. Moreover, the location of Goodbread House is simply perfect. Nestled in a charming neighborhood, it offers easy access to local shops, restaurants, and historical sites. Exploring the surroundings on foot was a delightful experience, and the inn's central location made it a great starting point for my daily adventures. In conclusion, my stay at Goodbread House Bed and Breakfast was nothing short of delightful.

The owners/staff were so welcoming and accommodating. The house has such charm and personality. The room was clean. It was within walking distance of where you board the ferry to go to Cumberland Island as well as local restaurants. The balcony, with swings and rocking chairs, was the perfect place to have an evening glass of wine or a morning cup of tea, both of which were complimentary.

The room we stayed in, Bogey and Bacall, had a platform step as you entered the room. My sister kept complaining that the room was small. I think it was the platform that made it feel that way. The bathroom in this suite however WAS very small. We did have a kichenette though which was very useful for our leftover picnic supplies.

This is a true jem of Georgia hospitality which you will not find very often. When entering the little town of St Marys with its Spanish moss loaded trees not far from the little harbor, on the the right hand side you will reach the old villa with its porches on two levels. What a warm appearance! The owner Mardja welcomed us so friendly in this house which with all its overwhelming interior decor brings you back a hundred years in time. Rooms with all modern amenities are all following a bit some movie themes - ours was Gone with the Wind. But it all still remains authentic keeping the time travel character. In the afternoon, Mardja will serve you some homemade cake and coffee on the porch, dinner can be taken in one of the little restaurants at the harbor (literally 2 minutes walking distance). And finally there is some complimentary red or white wine which you can have on the porch in the quite and peaceful evening atmosphere. The next morning the breakfast is served fully styled on porcelain (we had fruits, homemade cake, freshly pressed orange juice and brewed coffee not to forget the tasty omelette soufflé). If you are to make a trip to Cumberland Island or just for a few days to ‚switch off‘ from a busy town life, do not hesitate to go here.

The hosts were absolutely adorable. They went the extra mile, in so many ways. Breakfast was delicious, everything was fresh and homemade. EXCELLENT coffee. The room was big and quiet. Easy parking. Excellent restaurants nearby. The charming house and the garden are picture book-like. The porch was lovely. Easy and reliable key hand over.

A water boiling kettle in the breakfast room might facilitate the host’s work. But I could obtain hot water for my tea anytime of the day.

The friendly staff was so inviting and welcoming. It is what made our trip so nice and different than all previous vacations. I can honestly say I've never stayed anywhere before that hugged me when I left!! My husband (who was raised in Brooklyn) said the southern hospitality is what made the entire trip and be would give them 100 stars, if it were an option. We also met 2 lovely families who were also staying there at the same time. We enjoyed our breakfasts with them and even spent time together while visiting various sites a few times and in the evenings, hanging out on the porch. Oh! And no one is lying about the food. It's fantastic too. Nit to mention, this town is so very friendly. There are no words for how wonderful that culture shock was to experience. I have never talked to so many strangers before! Anyway, you just have to experience it at least once!!

Cozy, authentic, period B&B... stepped back in time as we were headed to Cumberland Island for the Land & Legacy tour. The staff were so kind and helpful. We felt at home immediately. Could not ask for better location in heart of St Mary's, we walked everywhere (3 blocks to great restaurants and ferry). The afternoon reception baked goods were delicious. The breakfast was as well. They even offered to order a prepared lunch to take with us to the island (no food sold out there, take all own provisions). The turkey wrap was very generous and delicious. Will definitely stay again.

The location to Cumberland and Jekyl islands is perfect. St. Marys town is walkable and quaint. Lots of restaurants and shops. The view of the river is lovely. The accommodations are comfortable and clean. The breakfast was amazing. Lots of room to sit on the porches and relax. The decor is antiques with a theme for each room. Everyone is friendly.

If you want a modern theme or exercise facilities, this would not be your place. But it's perfect for what they advertise.

Omg where to begin?! First of all the location was perfection , adorable small town with kind friendly and fun people. The Inn was so beautiful, everywhere you looked there was something exciting to see. We were served fresh breakfast EVERY morning and and we spent our last night in the parlor room drinking and socializing. Did I mention the romantic room themes?! She also went above and beyond to help us book a tour for Cumberland Island (cause we had no idea how the ferry worked) truly could not thank them both enough for the experience and the amazing service. We will definitely be back.

Felicia and Carroll were very welcoming and both went out of their way to be helpful. Felicia is especially upbeat and was a delight to interact with. She lent us the golf cart to explore the town; it was a real treat to see the riverside and nearby neighborhoods.

We fully enjoyed our stay. There was nothing we'd change. We even tried to extend our stay but it was booked in full.

Our hostess Marja and her helper Carol where very friendly and helpful. I learned a lot about St. Mary's from them and enjoyed sitting in the parlor with a glass of wine. I especially enjoyed the pecan blond brownie treat. My room was clean and the beds were comfortable. It was a chilly night and there was a heater in the bedroom and a heater in the bathroom that made it very comfortable. The breakfast was hot and delicious, served on lovely china, egg, cheese and ham frittata, homemade banana walnut bread and seasonal fruit. All the rooms have movie star themes too.

Booking.com got the room options wrong. I had reserved a Deluxe King Suite that said it had two King beds but there was not a room like that at the Inn. I was with my daughter and we wanted to live it up before our 3 night camping trip to Cumberland Island. Marja made up for it by conveniently moving us to a room that would work for us and her southern hospitality!
