Riverview Hotel

What a quaint sea town! It was like stepping back in time! The hotel itself was very nice and as you walk in the front door a gorgeous white marble floor with dark wooden furniture and old fashioned light fixtures adorn the lobby. A distinguished gentleman greeted me at the front desk and was so mild mannered and polite. A fantastic porch off the second floor is a delight to sit on and relax while overlooking the river.

The rooms are a bit outdated - but afterall that is a part of your experience.

The location is so convenient to access all St. Mary's has to offer. The building itself is beautiful and the interior is like stepping back into the early 1900's , it's just wonderful!

The only thing I did not like is there is a very active bar basically in the hotel so the rooms that are right next to that.... You need to prepare by bringing earplugs or you will not be able to get to sleep. First night was a little rough because I did not expect that and went down at 1am to grumpily complain, staff was awesome and I got some earplugs the next day and the second night slept like a baby!

Location was excellent being directly across from the ferry to Cumberland that we were taking. The room was clean and breakfast offered several options. Frankie that worked evenings at the desk was very helpful and we enjoyed talking with her. We had a beautiful view from our room. We are a great grouper sandwich and baked potato at the restaurant on the property.

The bathtub was very slippery so be CAREFUL!

The location of the hotel was excellent especially if you were travelling to Cumberland Island. The staff were very friendly and helped us to get our reservations sorted when there was a mix-up. The hotel was very clean and comfortable.

We went to a local restaurant for our breakfasts as we wanted a more complete hot breakfast. The hotel only provides the minimum for breakfast.

The Rockefeller Room was farthest from the festivities in the bar, and after a long drive we were grateful for a quiet place to get some rest. The high beadboard ceilings and very comfortable bed helped us relax right away. After going out, we always looked forward to returning to our nest. I loved the window shutters that I could adjust for privacy at the bottom and light at the top, and for our first visit, we loved looking out at the river. The room and bathroom were sparkling clean, the water pressure was good, and there was plenty of hot water when we needed it. We’re already talking about returning. Our host was kind and welcoming.

The sink is attractive, but the vanity in which it’s placed is too high to do anything but wash one’s hands. Washing my face would make a mess of the front of me and the floor. The description said “breakfast included but it’s just a continental, or “short” breakfast. There was a selection of cereals but only one kind of milk. I’d have appreciated a bit more. None of this is important, and it’s certainly not a deal-breaker. We loved it.

The property is across the street from the river, centrally located near all of the restaurants and amenities, and parking was available in front of the hotel, behind, or along the street. The upstairs porch is just the best place to finish up my day.

The window shutters were nice but even when fully opened blocked my view of the river.

The continental breakfast was as expected. Easy for a grab and go. Everyone at the front desk was so very nice and helpful. Our room was very clean. We especially enjoyed the upper level porch to enjoy a cocktail and the view!

The worst thing was that we couldn't stay longer!

Great location with great view of the river. Very friendly staff. Room very comfortable. Nice old-fashioned hotel. Enjoyed light breakfast in morning.

Restaurant on property was closed so only in-site food available was from Saloon which was very limited.

This was a nice place to stay. I was in room 5 which was clean and comfortable, however there is bar just below the window. The band or singer played until 1:30am when thank God they finished. I now hate the song "I got friends in lowly places". Aside from that I like the Riverview Hotel. It is older with historic value. I will stay here again, but ask for a southend room. The afternoon staff was great. I would recommend. Easy walking to downtown stores.

Our initial room was fine, but after dinner we heard loud music coming up from a patio beneath. us. when I asked the receptionist about the noise, she decided to move our room to another lovely room even tho we had used some of the amenities. We were delighted and greatful.
