Hilton Des Moines Downtown

Beautiful modern hotel that was very classy and upscale. Very comfortable bed, large tv, and beautiful finishes. Room felt clean and luxurious. There were nice snack selections to choose from when we arrived late at night and were hungry. The bathroom was clean and beautiful.

You cannot park in the parking lot until you're checked in and have your room key.

Great location. Nice facilities. Loved the restaurant and bar area. Easy access to downtown activities.

I asked for housekeeping during our stay, since it was offered and 4 people use a lot of towels. I requested addition towels the first night right away. We only had 3 for 4 people. The towels didn’t come. So the next day I replied to the text message and housekeeping brought towels. They took the trash and asked what else I needed. I got new shampoo and conditioner and soap. I thought they would come back and replenish stuff and take the dirty towels. Nope. That was a bit disappointing. Everything else was good.

It was modern, clean and well maintained! Sky walks to Wells Fargo Arena we’re super convenient.

Parking garage was completely full so we had to park in a ramp that we had to pay for. The hotel staff said when the hotel was built, the parking garage wasn’t built large enough which was odd. Also, we were in the pool and maintenance came in and said that we all needed to get out because they needed to test the water. They then said the chlorine level was too high so the pool was closed indefinitely until the levels were corrected. We weren’t able to enjoy the pool at all before we had to check out and my kids were super bummed.

Everything, minus the things I didn't like. Great hotel, 2nd time we have stayed there.

Air conditioner in room did not get the room cool enough to sleep. Set it to lowest setting with fan set to on and stayed between 71 and 72 degrees the whole time. Very uncomfortable sleeping conditions. Cost of drinks/food is outrageous, I understand the current economic situation but 10+$ for a weak vodka tonic at the bar is shameful. Food was great, but $56.00 for two salads and spin dip was the straw that broke the camel's back.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this Hotel. Very clean and quiet room. We wish we could have tried the restaurant but our friends were joining us at their hotel and we had breakfast there instead. If we are in Des Moines in the future we would definitely stay at this Hotel again. Yes, it was pricey but worth it. Thank you to the excellent staff.

We just wished that it had not been necessary to pay an extra $25 to park our vehicle at the Hotel garage.

I loved that the hotel was connected to our event center. That was SUPER handy. The hotel was within walking distance to many different restaurants, and shops! Such a cool city to visit, and loved all the different events that were happening when we stayed!

That the bar wasn't open later than 11PM. We had a conference that lasted until 11 one night, went down to the bar to grab a drink and it was closed. But other than that it was such a wonderful stay!

The location was perfect; seemed to be close to most attractions. We came for our niece's graduation from DMU Med School. We didn't know at the time of booking that the venue was right next door! I appreciated the magnifying mirror in the bathroom and the little market for a quick snack or beverage.

It would be nice to have better lighting (a brighter option) in the bathroom for makeup application.

Loved the proximity to Wells Fargo Arena and great restaurants near the hotel. We loved that Des Moines as a city was very clean and felt safe. My boyfriend and I are from Minnesota. Ironically, the same comedian was in Minneapolis the night before. As crime has become out of control in Minneapolis, we actually decided to make the drive to Iowa instead. Thank you to Hilton and the city of Des Moines for making our trip so enjoyable!

Fantastic customer service and the text assistance is great. The upgrade option was phenomenal and the bed and pillows were amazing.

The only negatives were the pricy parking ($25/vehicle) and the towels were very scratchy and stiff. The rooms say they come with robes and slippers but they don’t.

The stay was nice. Comfortable beds and many nice pillows. Facilities were clean and updated, and the location is great for all of the downtown court avenue activities. Overall it was a great stay.

The breakfast food was very good, however I believe the two employees manning the breakfast counter were a bit overwhelmed at the height of breakfast hour. They did well, but my drinks were missed and I had to go back to the busy counter to ask for them. Maybe there should be a line, or staging area for the folks that are waiting to order. A natural line formed, but I got the impression that people like me, that needed to go back to the counter for something had no place. I didn't want to get behind several other people since I had already paid and ordered. Get breakfast early to avoid the crowd.
