Hyatt Place Des Moines Downtown

Breakfast was convenient and varied each day; staff was quite pleasant and extremely helpful, bed was comfortable and we felt well rested, we enjoyed the shuttle to the State Fair, visiting the bridges of Madison County, and meeting many wonderful people of Iowa. We found publications from the Iowa Bureau of Tourism a real help in planning our trip.

The only thing that would have made our visit more enjoyable was to spend more time in Des Moines. A dining room in the hotel would be a welcome addition.

the room we had was super spacious. Very clean. the staff was very friendly and truly cared about their visitors. My sugar had dropped and lady behind the desk took care of purchasing the items I got herself. These simple gestures go along ways in my book. The breakfast had a true “home cooked” feel to it as the food serving area was not in steamers and ice - but in nice cookware which I’m assuming instead of adding food to it- this allows them to keep the food fresher by switching the pans out completely. There’s access to the skywalk which was great as we were going to Wells Fargo.

The only thing that I could possibly say and it couldn’t be changed - the parking lot across the street was quite small - if you have a larger vehicle it is a pretty tight fit.

1. there was no microwave in my room, i expected to use it as i was staying for 3 nights. 2. everywhere in google, booking.com, it clearly shows airport shuttle facility will be provided. however realized at last minute after calling the front desk, it was not the case. 3. shower head had super slow water flow in every setting.

The staff was top notch. Lisa in particular. I was stranded at the bus station, it was zero outside, nearly midnight, they were going to close the station and put me out in the cold. I called a cab but they said it would be more than an hour for it to come, to late for me. I called the hotel and got Lisa, she said that she was getting off work, and would come up and drive me to the hotel. She saved me from a bad experience. I was disappointed this trip to find in several instances, no cabs at the train or bus stations. You might consider a courtesy van for your hotel.

I got a wake up call at 5:30 that I did not request.

Room was a nice size. Asked for another blanket and it was promptly delivered. The bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. You should really make sure people know about the sktwalk. It was a big plus with the cold weather.

I could have used another trash can in the bedroom rather than just in the bathroom. The fact only one elevator worked when I came back from concert was frustrating.

Front desk staff was terrific! Breakfast was good. Location good.

Not the hotels fault but Uber/lift was totally unreliable On the hotels welcome screen it advertised shutte service to airport but none available . Noise of racing cars super loud. Wish the pool was outside. No options close by for shopping as they lost my husband’s luggage…

The location was great. The Des Moines Skywalk made everything in the downtown accessible and convenient, without having to brave the cold.

It was a bit pricier than we would have liked, but we were there for the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, so I wouldn't consider it excessive.

The staff at the Hyatt was AMAZING!!. JOSH was awesome and super helpful. We talked a lot, traded some recepies.him and the rest of the staff get a huge thumbs up from me.. If you stay here you will not be disappointed.

The hotel was very nice and in a good location. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Parking situation is a little weird but is better than what other reviews have stated. They now have a garage door opener so they can open the garage gate from the front desk. Good price for the location and quality

It was during the pandemic so I understand that buffet breakfasts are not the smartest idea, but the only breakfast that I encountered was a coffee "bar" (nothing fancy, just coffee in the big carafes) with nothing additional.

I like the location close distance to the ball field and restaurants. The room was a great size especially for my family.

Not enough space for people to eat during breakfast hours. Our room wasn't as clean as I would like.
