Hotel on North0

Currently no food or beverage service at the hotel due to COVID, but took a short walk (~3 blocks) to Otto’s for breakfast, and that was great.

We booked the room for four persons, but there were only enough towels for three, and coffee mugs for two. It’s a small thing, and the front desk responded quickly to provide, but it would have been nice if the room was set up to accommodate the size of our party.

Being familiar with building when I was young, I was very impressed with the excellent work that has transformed it from retail businesses and upstairs apartments into a first-class hotel. The hotel room and bathroom were very spacious and very well appointed with furnishings and amenities. As a youth I recall shopping on the street level and visiting a great uncle and aunt who lived upstairs.

I was very disappointed that the hotel restaurant was not open at all during our stay and nearby restaurants were nearly non-existent. We were given incorrect advice on where to find breakfast. The restaurant out the front door and a two -minute walk to the left was much longer for a fellow recuperating from a broken ankle and unpleasant at 25 degrees. And the restaurant was totally closed for the Thanksgiving holiday and until the following week.

Staff, bathroom and parking were excellent. Facilities were nicely updated. Bed and bedding very comfortable.

The location was excellent for our purposes but what was truly outstanding was the responsiveness of the hotel staff. There was always a live person at the desk to answer questions, answer the phone, and one who really helped us out when dinner plans had to be rearranged quickly. Best hotel staff experience I've had. Also bonus points for having a real coffee maker with real coffee (not a keurig) in the room.

I think it would help to have some overhead ceiling lights or more lights in the room. The rooms themselves are extraordinary and unique and ours was large and comfortable but the weather was somewhat cloudy so the room was somewhat dark even with all the lamps on.

We love the location and the hotel... the rooms, decor, excellent coffee in room, nice shower... all great!

The only real inconvenience is their not having a restaurant, or at least breakfast. The restaurant in the hotel is a different company and not very good; we had dinner there once. Currently it's open very limited hours, only early dinner on certain nights. We heard that the restaurant had changed ownership recently, which is a hopeful sign! In the meantime, hotel could have a few breakfast items (like donuts or muffins) to go with its excellent complimentary coffee and tea. The prices are high, could offer some better rates/promotions, at least in the off-season.

Great vibe and re-purposing of the old store with the original floors and re-used materials. Excellent bathroom. Very comfortable and spacious room with sitting area. Quiet. Super nice staff. Convenient parking lot just outside the hotel's back door. Good location for getting to South County (Gt. Barrington area) and to North County (Williamstown, MassMOCA, Clark Art).

The lighting in the rooms could be brighter. There are sufficient fixtures, just very dull lamps/bulbs. Bathroom is well lit. The one window could use a shade or curtain that blocks more light in the morning.

This hotel was absolutely delightful. Every area pristine, big room, big bathroom, excellent location. Public areas were amazing with local art work, historic decor and comfortable furnishings. The staff couldn't be nicer.

Our room was facing Main St. Although the traffic was intermittent, we're not used to hearing traffic at night. We would likely ask for room in the back next time. For city dwellers, should not be an issue. We understand this is part of staying on Main St. in a city.

The staff were very receiving and pleasant! Smiling and helpful! The room was Very Clean, bed Very Comfortable and the room was spacious with a sitting room. The bathroom was also very spacious and offered nice toiletries ! Room service for cocktails that were top notch, very professional!

The room was beautiful and the overall appearance of the hotel was very clean and well designed.

The downtown area is definitely on the up but still a little sketchy in certain parts. The proximity to other towns is great though. We found ourselves driving 10-15 min each direction to hike or visit other shops etc. The worst was the dining. Apparently their restaurant was shut down during COVID and just reopened when we were there. The wait staff seemed very overwhelmed even with 10 guests or so at the entire bar. The food took very long to come out and was not very good at all. We wanted to just grab a drink and an app and we were sitting at the bar for over an hour.

My room was very spacious-- two queen beds, beautiful hardwood floors, mini fridge and morning coffee supplied. The-- bathroom was large and bright (perfect for two sharing a room) with nice amenities (plenty of hooks for towels, roomy vanity and overhead rainshower head in the shower). Decor was very tasteful and interesting -- work done by local artisans.
