Holiday Inn Express Nags Head Oceanfront, an IHG Hotel

Beds were comfortable.

I felt like the price was too high for the type of hotel, was very old. The price reflected no competition. The view of the ocean was very minimal to non-existent on the second floor. We were asked which floor and we should have been told The View would be better higher up.

Location was excellent. Breakfast was good, we like hot eggs & toast,,choices for drinks. Cereal & other options also good. Liked pancakes better than waffles & definitely cleaner. Meal staff was very noce & helpful. The lobby is weird with 2 desks and no seating or comfortable area to wait. Very bare. Staff was hit or miss, sometimes friendly sometimes ignored us.

A guy in the back came out, manager maybe, not friendly at all. Talked to staff but seemed to be not bothered at all with guests/didn’t want to be in lobby at all. Seating in lobby would be nice. Maybe a water cooler/jug of ice water with cups.it’s just not that welcoming.

Location was perfect. Hotel had everything we needed. Cleanest Hotel we've ever stayed at. Extremely quiet considering all the children staying there. Breakfast buffet was outstanding. Patrick the Hotel Manager was extremely friendly as were MOST of the front desk workers.

There was only 1 Front Dest Woman who is not very Friendly during 4pm sharp check in. Needs to work on her custom service skills. Customer Service 101. Good morning. Good afternoon. Have a great day. If you need anything just let us know. Instead she was a sour puss.

Fantastic location right on the beach! Big, spacious room with all amenities you need for a beach trip.

The ocean view is great but it is a shame that there is a parking lot between the hotel and the beach. The view was also impeded by the top railing on the balcony, which lines up perfectly with eye height when you sit down. And the breakfast could do with a few more options but a bigger issue was the limited breakfast area which got extremely crowded at times and resulted in people standing and eating and making it difficult to even get to the buffet.

We liked that the hotel was beachfront. Very convenient going back and forth to the beach and room. The beds were extremely comfortable.

I thought the hours for breakfast could have went until 10-10:30am. Although we did not have children with us, there were many families and people were rushing to get in before the doors locked. You are on vacation and do not want to rush around for the 6am-9:30am timeframe especially if you have children with you.

Amazing breakfast, we’ve stayed at a lot of motels before and this one had the best complimentary breakfast we ever had. They had egg omelettes with peppers and onions, cheese omelettes ,ham, sausage, cinnamon rolls, a pancake making appliance to which I have never seen before, I mean you just press a button and it makes fresh great tasting pancakes right in front of you in two minutes and they tasted great. The room was clean with a balcony and great ocean views and a friendly staff!! Can’t wait to go back

We loved the proximity to the beach, the bed, the availability of breakfast (though we loved the nearby Grits Grill the best), the ease of parking, the proximity to shopping and restaurants, ease of getting an elevator, kind and friendly staff. They had full-size body wash, shampoo and conditioner, all the Dove brand. They also had a Keurig-type coffee machine, which allowed us to bring our favorites. There is a small fridge and freezer which comes in handy.

It would have been nice if the bathrooms were larger—can’t change that. And I would like to see the plastic barricades come down at the checkin desks. It takes away from the warmth that could be.

The rooms were great and right next door to each other; beautiful ocean views.

That one of your staff members was not practicing good "safety and personal hygiene" when handling food items at the breakfast bar our first morning. She was not wearing gloves, rubbing her face then began to handle utensils and food items. I asked her to kindly wash her hands and put on gloves and she seemed rather "put out" that I made that request. I contacted hotel management and they spoke with her, however, after management left, she made comments out loud to another co-worker about how she "always used good personal hygiene"...I do not know her name but we were there on Saturday, January 29th.

Breakfast was nice. Good variety. Staff kept the buffet and dining area well maintained and were courteous.

No housekeeping during our 6 day/5 night stay. Trash cans were full, towels on the floor etc. We would've booked elsewhere had we known of this condition. 2 days into our stay went to use the microwave and it was filthy. We booked an "ocean view" room through Booking.com and got a "dune view", which is basically a view of their parking lot and a sand dune. Neither Booking or the hotel would take responsibility for the error. Indoor pool so tiny that we felt it wasn't worth suiting up to use it.

The location of the site was great and the breakfast was excellent very clean. Very quiet. Enjoyed my stay very much would do it again. How do use holiday express anytime and the staff was very friendly

Did not like the pool. It was too small should have been a little bigger and I can add a hot tub. That’s the only thing I didn’t care about.
