The hotel is in a really nice location in Kill Devil Hills, it's got a private beach access so you can easily get from your room to the beach. It's close to nice food options and a short drive away from stores and pharmacies. The free breakfast was great for a family of 4 - when you have kids with you, you really want to get breakfast right away in the morning. The pool they have isn't very deep but it's great for kids to play in for that very reason - our kids did not want to leave. They have pool floaties for the kids right in the pool area. The staff were really nice and kind. I saw them cleaning the pool area every morning before it opened. There was a very pleasant laid-back atmosphere in the hotel.

The room window could not be opened, and we don't like sleeping with AC on. The bath/shower was stuck on shower mode only - you couldn't fill the tub to give the kids a bath. The microwave in our room had not been cleaned in a while. Our room was not cleaned during our stay, but on the other hand we only stayed 2 nights, so it didn't matter much to us.

I enjoyed how close it was too the beach the pools there were always clean and my little one had a blast in them there was a hot tub and the hot tub jets worked very well , the bed was super comfy and clean , hotel staff were very nice and accommodating .

The tub had a dip in it , Tv was a little difficult at first and like most hotels or the ones I’ve been to it had cable so for someone who’s use to streaming and no commercials it’s a different experience but my family and I were able to find some shows and movies to watch I would say there were alot of kid shows cop shows and older shows and the occasional recent shows or movies , the hotel did provided a pamphlet for channels that was super helpful tho

The room is standard but the bathroom is huge, free spacious parking, good breakfast with plenty of seats. Within walking distance, there is a small plaza with a variety of small good cafes Hotel on the first line with convenient access to the beach The beach was nice and not crowded

The only drawback was only our room, on the second floor immediately opposite the stairs - the condensate from the air conditioner did not flow down from the floor like all other rooms and there was always a puddle in front of our door, but as I could see, only we were so lucky and other rooms do not have this problem

nice being oceanfront. easy beach access. indoor and outdoor pool. the staff was very friendly. Breakfast was very good, everything you could want. Nice balcony with sea view if standing. 3rd and 4th floors have unobstructed views. within walking distance of many restaurants. The room was very nice really enjoyed our stay in spite of the not great weather.

Something the Shutters couldn't do anything about, the weather wasn't very good. The shower needs updating. other than that the room was very nice. Door was a little difficult to open. I can't think of anything else. we really loved our stay there.

We traveled with a 6, 5 and 2 year old and the convenience here was really great. The beach was wonderful and pretty private. The crabs/waves/beach at this location were the kids favorite. Breakfast hit the mark for what we needed so we could stick to a budget of eating out for lunch and dinner. The kids even used the pool one day after the beach. I read reviews walls were thin so we tried to stay quiet and we never heard anyone else, even being in the middle. The balcony on 2nd floor could still see the ocean when standing. Great location also.

The carpet in the room really needs replaced. It's a shame there isn't some sort of modern flooring because it gave the room a slight odor. Also, the AC drips on the balcony from the balconies above making the floor a little wet in places so that wasn't great getting our socks wet.

We loved our junior king suite with the ocean view. We were able to watch the sun rise in the morning and watch and listen to the ocean any time of the day we wanted too. I spent a lot of time out there just listening to the waves and nothing else. Our room was nice and large, bathroom updated and modern. The staff was very friendly, breakfast was a plus. We stayed at the hotel for the indoor pool since we came so early in the season and that was great.

The elevator was out for the duration of our stay, but the stairs were not bad at all. They were working to replace the elevator while we were there.

The location was fantastic. A few steps to the beach. They had 2 great pools, one inside and one outside. We had chilly weather sp.the indoor pool was well used. They also have a hot tub inside next to the pool. Free breakfast was well-stocked and replenished frequently. Staff were very friendly, especially the breakfast guy. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels supplied. Despite having them hung up to use again. It was appreciated.

The weather. Lol. No one has any control over that. The indoor breakfast eating area was pretty small with few tables.

Breakfast was basic. It was nice to have the choice to eat there or go out. The beach is ALWAYS AWESOME! Always clean and rarely do you need to worry about what you might see. VERY FAMILY FRIENDLY and conveniently located. Love the fact that we didn't even have to reserve beach chairs and umbrellas! Day to day rental was a huge perk!

The walls are NOT well insolated and you can hear the conversation going on in the adjoining rooms. fortunately I was by myself most of the days that I stayed

While I knew we were not getting an ocean view room I thought all of the rooms had a balcony to sit on. Still enjoyed the stay very much but would of been nice to know the room did not have a balcony prior to arrival. (And maybe I misread something so this could be on me)

We really enjoyed our stay. Actually ended up adding on an extra day. The breakfast was great, they had something different on it everyday. Our room was very clean and cozy. Definitely plan on staying at Shutters On The Banks again.

Our shower stopper wasn’t working properly so you couldn’t take a bath. Shower only which was hard with a toddler. Also our room door was very hard to shut so really had to pay attention to make sure it latched . Other then that was a wonderful place.
