Holiday Inn - Vienna - South, an IHG Hotel

The Hotel is good value for money. Take the 15a bus in front of the Hotel and go to Meidling U6 in just 5/10 minutes.

Breakfast runs until 10:30, but beware if you are late they run out with some items, croissants and viennoiseries will be long gone as early as 9:30. There are 2 coffee machines but even with many customers around they shut down one and you end up making long queues (I have waited once 6 minutes) there was queue, then milk was missing, then coffee grains were missing ... :) :). The restaurant is on 22nd floors where you have a nice view. Once it was 10 o'clock and they shut down all the nice tables, (they set up for lunch I suppose) and people crowd in in the remaining space. Not so good with the COVID situation. The hotel is good and I will return but I just do not understand the management of the breakfast / restaurant.

First time at this Hotel, we booked a six nights, two rooms for us and our son. Well in the beginning, you are a little anxious, but everything turned out quite well. The staff at the reception gave us rooms on the 16th floor, there you have an extraordinary view on the city of Vienna. The room was spacious and clean, however the floor is carpet and in Austria they do accept dogs in Hotels, so you really don’t know if there was one beforehand .. Very good breakfast and with the same panoramic view (again dogs are welcome). Parking was arranged for us for 20 € per day, which is a fair price in Vienna. The location of the hotel was very good for us, close by you have Hofer and Billa supermarkets (two minutes’ walk) and the Hotel is adjacent to this Mall called MyHive, there are various shops and a Cinema. We had a car so we do not know about public transportation. Finally for us it was a nice experience and we recommend this Hotel.

No minibar in the room. You need an executive room to get one (probably more expensive).

My reuqest to be placed near my friend’s room was fullfilled right away. Friendly, fluent english speaking staff. Very clean rooms with a beautiful view (even if you rent the basic rooms)

underground parking is 22€/day which maybe is a normal thing in the western europe. in moldova, 22€ is like 10% of an average salary. however it was worth it as its near the elevators and its like a 2min procedure to leave your hotel room, get down, load your luggage and go.

The breakfast was perfect, too many good options to have and everything was too delicious. The restaurant is on the 22nd floor so the view was awesome. The bed was too comfortable, and the rooms were big, and the view of the room window was so good. There were a supermarket and a pharmacy near the hotel, but they close early. The staff were nice and friendly. TV was almost smart so I could use the smart view of my phone and the phone screen was played on TV. The hotel was big and nice.

The public transport was too far. we had to walk too long to get the tram and it was the only problem of this hotel. I also can say there are no restaurants around the hotel, so it was difficult to have dinner at night.

Everything I liked I noted above. But unfortunately the whole experience was ruined by that young man who works at the restaurant, the one who receives customers for breakfast !

The staff at the hotel restaurant, especially the 2 young people who works at breakfast, who exaggerated and did not let us enter the restaurant because we were 3 vaccinated adults a 3-year-old child and a 10-year-old child who had the expired PCR test few hours ! Unfortunately, the beautiful experience offered by the hotel was completely ruined by a young man who exaggerated a lot! I mention that in 3 days I was in 5 restaurants in Vienna and absolutely no one said anything about that expired test for a few hours ... I repeat the expired test was of a 10 year old child !!!

The staff was very friendly and gave us a room on a high floor which my son was very excited about! The view from our room was fantastic, and the glass elevator was a fun surprise for my son and me. The beds were super comfortable, too, and the layout of the room worked very well for us. The view from the restaurant was really cool - however, the breakfast itself (while tasty) could have had more child-friendly items like more cereal or waffles (which were mentioned on the room TV).

The room was very warm and the AC didn't really cool it down. The pillows were too soft for me which made sleeping a bit difficult.

The Holiday Inn is my to-go chain for a solo stay, one or 2 nights, where I have little interest in hotel amenities (except the gym). Vienna South did not disappoint. Very well staffed and managed, everything went as expected. The rooms are clean and well-kept, wifi is decent and the shower was great (the mark of a good hotel). Breakfast was good and although dinner was a bit pretentious it was well served and prepared. Will definitely return for a business trip again.

A coworker and I are both IHG Platinum Elite members. I used booking,com and he used the IHG website, and we paid exactly the same amount. He got "upgraded" on check-in to the exact same room size I stayed in, however he did get a free welcoming drink. Given the above, I think I'll stick to my benefits on Booking rather than maintaining different memberships on different hotel chains.

The staff at Holiday Inn were excellent. Very helpful and polite. Every morning like clockwork, we would ask the staff at the reception to give us directions to the sites we were visiting that day. They always went above and beyond to give us maps, route options and other tips. All this with a smile.

For 22 euros per person, the breakfast is not worth it to be honest given the amount of options you have in Vienna. You can get way better food and value at the City Center or even downstairs at the Twin City mall. If you're travelling for business, you may not have a choice but if its for leisure, you're better off looking for options.

Staff nice and friendly. Buffet breakfast is quite nice and fresh and has many options! Clean rooms and option to access the garage for 20 eur a day.

It's not I didn't like but could be improved: pillows, having a small safe and minifridge on the room.

The room was very clean and with a nice view. Everyone from the staff was friendly and we did not have any problems with communicating with them. Overall it felt safe, it was quiet and welcoming.

We visited the hotel in July and on a hot day, so the AC was nice, however we packed light pyjamas and during the night the room was a bit too cold — so if you're always cold like us, pack longer pants and some socks :)
