Grand Hôtel de L'Univers Saint-Germain

The location was absolutely incredible, right in the heart of Saint Germain's cafés and restaurants area. I felt very safe to explore the area as a solo female traveler and to me that was worth it all. The bed was very large and comfortable. The aircon was a great thing to have in August.

For what I would consider a mod-high price, I didn't find the room in the standard I was hoping for. Some things in the bathroom were falling apart, sound insolation was very poor and you could hear every creek and steps from the other rooms. Front desk staff made the minimum effort to communicate but did answer all my questions so no complaints.

it was a great location to discover the Left Bank. An old world charm. The staff were super friendly and helpful. A BIG THANKYOU to Lawzi and Cleaning lady who found the Jewelery I’d left in my room and notified me in the taxi on my way to Train Station. I hadn’t realized. We would stay again.

We had booked the property to shower and change in after a long flight from Australia, as our property was not available. We were also excited to try another property in the area. The room was clean and well equipped. We booked a room overlooking the small street and loved sitting at the window watching the world go by, and the sun stream in during our short stay. The location is perfect, set in the heart of the Saint Germain des Pres area.

The water pressure in our room wasn't the greatest, but we would definitely book again, this was only a minor thing. There are far more positives than this one negative.

Location is great, at the heart of St. Germain, where I prefer on my Paris vacations. Rooms are small but you have everything you need.

The rooms don’t have radiator. I’m not sure if the air conditioner would be enough for the cold winter days…

The decor and facilities in our room were so far above what we expected. The room was beautifully decorated and was much larger than we had expected. The toilet was separate to the bathroom and we had a small table and one arm chair. There was room to put both suitcases on the floor. We faced the street but there was no noise from outside. Hotel also had an elevator. Concierge staff (particularly our lovely female one - apologies for not having her name) were very helpful when we needed anything and housekeeping staff were lovely too. We didn't partake of breakfasts here so can't comment.

The hotel was wonderful for our stay- the hotel common areas and rooms are beautiful and well represented by the pictures on the website. The location is fantastic, with multiple great restaurant options within steps of the front door. It is an easy ~ 3 minute walk to to the Mabillon or Odeon metro stations, with other key attractions (the Louvre, Sainte-Chapele, Luxembourg Gardens) within a 1km or less walk. They were able to accommodate our request for adjacent rooms. The staff was very helpful in arranging transport to and from the train station or airport at the beginning and end of our trip.

The bathroom fixtures were a bit dated and the shower was a bit tricky to get set correctly, but this may be expected with an older building and overall did not detract from our stay.

This Hotel has a fantastic location, right in the middle of cafes, restaurants and shops in Saint Germain. It was a 10 minute walk to the river where we easily caught the Batobus or water taxi, so access to many 'must see' places, was easy. The Hotel has existed since circa the 13th century and has a lot of history. It has an underground cellar type room where a smorgasbord breakfast is served for a reasonable rate. The room was a little small but comfortable with a french balcony window looking out to the street below. The bathroom was fine. There is a 24 hour reception with friendly staff. There is a tiny lift. The cost was great, given the location. Highly recommend to experience a bit of Paris.

We loved our 5 night stay at this Hotel. The only thing was the room was quite small, so there was only room to store our bags upright, but we managed.

Hotel was perfectly situated for touring Paris. Easy access to metro. walkable to major sites, staff were very friendly and accommodating. Excellent restaurants just outside the door of the hotel. The hotel had a lot of French Charm in its decorations yet was very modern in amenities. Room was spotless each day. The air conditioning worked well and was a very welcomed necessity with the temps near the 30C mark in Paris during our visit. We did not sample the hotel breakfast so can not comment on it. There were 3 boulangeries/cafes within 30 meters of the hotel.. not to mention the amazing gelato shop across the street.

This hotel may not suit people with limited mobility if they are using the stairs or cannot step into a tub/shower combination. However there is an elevator for 2-3 persons at a time. I do not know if they have rooms with walk in showers or not for those with mobility issues.

The building is absolutely stunning, and the rooms are exactly as they're shown on the website - as long as you go for the standard rooms. The biggest rooms are when they get a bit more modern. The staff were wonderfully helpful and friendly, offering advice on places to go around Paris, and even correcting my French while I was practising with them. The location is fantastic, 11 minute walk from the Louvre, 15 minute walk from Notre Dame, and a 45 minute walk or a single bus ride from the Eiffel Tower.

There's no dish for the soap in the bathroom so it kept sticking to the side.

Loved the charm and decor of the old building. Helpful friendly staff. Loads of places to eat/drink at the front door to suit all budgets. Although it is in a busy location our room was nice and quiet and I thought a good size for Paris. It was extremely hot when we stayed here and the A/C was wonderful to come back to after exploring the city. Easy walk to a couple of metros. Will definately be our place to stay again in Paris.

Our wifi didn't work. Breakfast limited and expensive, cheaper out on the street
