The staff was friendly and helpful. I loved having a garden courtyard inside the hotel to relax with a glass of wine after a day of walking around the city and the greenhouse room attached to the garden was also lovely for breakfast. I also liked the view from my room that looked down on the trees of the garden and the church lit up at night.

It would have been nice to be able to bring your own snack into the garden to enjoy with a glass of wine. They did provide peanuts. Something about it being a public space and they didn't have a permit to serve food.

the staff were well humored, which is important when your elevator isn't working and you have a fully booked hotel with 5 flights to walk up. the garden is heavenly, and the basement space charming. the room was confortable and charming with a view of rooftops and cathedral st germain. don't miss the apple compote at breakfast.

better coffee and croissants would be great, other parts of breakfast were surprisingly good, like the applesauce and yoghurt and fresh fruit, meats, cheese were tops.... of course a functional elevator would be nice, and 24 hours self access to ice and water (without disturbing reception, which can be busy)

Very friendly and helpful staff some of whom engaged with us as individuals. They carried out bags up and down stairs because their recently rebuilt lift again failed to work properly. Lovely, quiet garden and lead light, classically French breakfast room. Very small rooms but beautifully decorated and fitted out. Very comfortable beds with lovely linens. Location is in the heart of a vibrant commercial district yet the hotel on both sides was very quiet. you couldn’t hear the outside World when having breakfast in the garden. The only sounds were made by birds and fellow guests and the staff. The guests seemed to be tourists and a few business people. A mature age couple felt very comfortable in the mixed age guest group. The clientele did not include children and that was appropriate as the small proportions hotel isn’t fitted out well for young children, early teens or people in wheelchairs.

The lift was broken for every day of our four night stay. The staff were so very apologetic and offered a baggage carrying service.

Charming small hotel in the heart of Saint Germain des Prés, just around the corner of Place Furstenberg, very quiet location in a courtyard, some of the gardenside rooms with a view of the steeples of the abbey. Small but cosy rooms (with really small bathrooms ...), a nice winter garden/conservatory breakfast area/bar leading to a beautiful garden with a romantic pavillon and the big chestnut tree that gives the hotel its name. Very friendly staff, solid WIFI, good value for money proposition.

I missed a small fridge/minibar.

This is a really old hotel with beams and a quirky layout. My room was on the 6th floor with a view over the rooftops. The room was cosy with a lovely comfy bed and old wooden furniture. The kind of room where two lovers met the night before the storming of the Bastille! (If you are romantically inclined). If you want a massive room then try somewhere else; if you want perfectly proportioned medieval French charm then this is a great hotel. The rooms are ‘cosy’: the building is hundreds of years old and that’s what makes it so charming. The bathroom is small but has everything you need including a hairdryer. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated in St German de Pres which has lots of narrows streets with little shops selling art and jewellery and plenty of cafes and restaurants and only a short walk to Notre Dame. absolutely loved this place and would definitely come back.

The only tiny thing was that the bathroom floor gets wet when you use the shower. maybe just needs an extra screen or a door? But I know in old buildings it’s hard.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, providing much knowledgeable information about the local area, places to visit and restaurants etc. Always smiling and happy to help. The facilities were basic but adequate. A traditional parisian building centred around a small courtyard. Location was great, a five minute walk from the nearest metro station that connected to main stations. A 5 minute walk to the river bringing you out near to the pont neuf and close to many restaurants and a great base for exploring Paris.

The only downside would be the lift, the building is 6 storeys with only one small lift but that's the constraints of an old building for you!

I've stayed at this hotel a couple times and it's still as good as it's ever been. Breakfast is pretty good, and the garden is quite enchanted considering the hotel's location. The hotel staff are very friendly and seem to smile often.

It's difficult to pick a minus point as the building is what it is, but the bathroom on the single bedroom I was in was very small, to the point where bathing (and other things !) was actually quite difficult. If you're a single traveler, it may be better to book a double room. But as I say, it's the way the building was constructed.

Superb location; we always stay in St Germain and had decided to try the property. We were in Rooms 301 (which was excellent) and 304 (which was good). Breakfast was one of the highlights of the day -- and the inner and outer courtyards were one of the reasons we had decided to try the property. ,

We were on business, and the wifi would not connect. We tried all sorts of remedies to no avail, yet when we left the propety, wifi worked fine (i.e., the problem was not our laptops). This caused major disruption concerning our reason for the trip and would be a game-breaker in planning a return visit.

The bed was incredibly comfortable and the room was charming, tucked into the eves of the top floor. We woke to the sounds of pigeons cooing on the roof outside our window. It was also very quiet, considering the hotel was in the middle of Paris. The hotel easily accommodated an additional night and was very communicative and professional. The location was fantastic! So many wonderful shops, cafes, etc. within easy walking distance of everything in Paris.

No issues to report.
