Hotel Vaneau Saint Germain

The location is excellent! It is down the street from Bon Marche & La Grande Epicerie & there is a large health food store across the street. Two grocery stores in the same block. Very close to Rue du Bac which will take you all the way to Blvd St. Germain. Metro down the street on Rue de Sevres. Train station Montparnesse is very close. A lovely garden at the end of Rue de Sevres where it meets Blvd Raspail to enjoy. Rue Room size is good even in a single room. They have a Nespresso coffee machine in their breakfast room which is always a plus for me.

The breakfast selection was good but not for the price.

We spent four nights at Hotel Vaneau Saint Gemain and found our room to be sparkling clean, comfortable and roomy. The front desk staff were very friendly, welcoming and accomodating. There was a minor problem due to a technical issue that could happen anywhere and it was resolved competently, professionally and to our great satisfaction. This indicates their commitment to make their guests feel welcome and comfortable. We couldn't have chosen a better location for our visit in Paris. Easy access to major attractions by Metro just down the street or by foot for those who enjoy walking. A variety of restaurants, cafes and supermarkets are very nearby, all of which made our stay at Vaneau smooth and easy. We strongly recommend this hotel and would definitely return to stay in a future visit to beautiful Paris.

Nothing. We would have loved to stay longer than 4 days.

The location is outstanding. There aren’t any tourist sights nearby, but that adds to the charm. There is a lovely cafe next door, a market for groceries a few hundred feet away, and the Vaneau Metro was so convenient. Our rooms were nice, especially our triple. It was so spacious for my husband, myself, and our 15 year old daughter. The small fridge was a nice amenity! We also had a double room right down the hall for 2 other people in our group. It was a little small, but had everything we needed. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

We stayed 4 nights and the aircon wasn’t working the first 3. Our window opened and the breeze was nice, but because of the great, active location is was very loud most of the night. However, we did receive a generous discount for those nights with no AC. Also, the elevator only goes to the 4th floor so ask for a lower room if you have mobility issues and cannot handle the stairs (we were on 6).

Excellent location! The train is close to the hotel which is nice when dragging luggage. It is in a really nice area with wonderful shops, restaurants, cafes, and pastry shops. We were on the second floor and our window looked out onto the street which was interesting. The museums were a little further away but as seniors, we were able to walk to them. We did use the Metro train as well which, as mentioned, is really close to the hotel.

There was a refrigerator but we couldn't use it because it was stinky. The shower stall was tiny and I'm not a big person. The AC was not available to use since they said they only turn it on for the summer season. We were able to leave the window open and that helped.

GREAT VALUE. Room 503 had a spacious balcony I could fit the room chair & stool to relax on. Neighbourhood is very safe and quiet. Within 30 seconds walk to Vaneau metro station or 3 minutes walk to Duroc metro if I wanted to stop by a grocery store open 24/7. There are 2 restaurants beside the entrance which was handy. Really appreciated 1) the good hair dryer and 2) sound-proofed walls. I stayed 10 nights during busy August 2022 and never once heard my neighbours. I would stay here again, for the reasonable price it is: comfortable, clean, newly renovated, it exceeded what I expected!

Do note the hotel has 6 floors and elevator reaches only to floor 4 (to be expected in Paris, so not a big deal for me). The wifi worked great, was free the entire time. One evening it was out completely for everyone but back on by the next morning. Staff are great and quick to fix any issues or provide help.

Hotel Vaneau is well-located on the Left Bank----it was close to public transit (Metro station a few doors down) and very walkable to southern arrondissments where the pace is easier and there are fewer crowds, like the Montparnasse area. The hotel is in an old building that is painstakingly maintained and with lot of character. The immediate area you just see cityfolk walking their dogs, sitting in front of their laptops in the corner cafe and picking up groceries at the stores along Rue de Sevres.

The only thing I would ding the HV on is the beds. The mattresses were a big sunken.

Great little hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The location was terrific - walking distance to multiple sites, several grocery stores and cafes in the immediate neighborhood. Lovely all around!

I needed to book an additional room while I was there, and this second room didn't have air conditioning. Kind of a drag, but the staff arrange a fan which was super nice and helped with comfort.

I like the location, it was very close to the metro, and some good grocery stores, and shops, as well as Bakeries👍. All in all a great stay!

they did not have a refrigerator as stated, which was kind of a drag, but they did offer use of the refrigerator downstairs which was nice ! The shower floors were extremely slippery. However, they offered us a bath mat when we asked in the shower. There were no grab bars which would’ve been nice. 

Location of hotel- other than noise from nearby businesses in very early morning hours. Old stained glass window and huge mirror over “fireplace” created an old world ambiance in the room. Staff not always friendly in the halls, but desk staff very helpful. Handheld shower piece nice addition to “rain” like shower.

Difficult to keep anything in the tiny shower. Noise in the early AM from local businesses. Room was 403.
