Art Hotel Orologio

The location was exceptional, just steps away from Piazza Maggiore, shopping and multiple restaurants. Breakfast was outstanding and the breakfast staff were very, very good. Our room was lovely and met our needs well (2 adults, 1 teenager). Housekeeping staff were great and everything was clean and well maintained. The little extras that came with the room, fruit, complimentary water and a small kettle were appreciated.

The half glassed in shower was fine, but did take getting used to to avoid getting water all over the floor. The shower/tub floor was very slippery. Our room was a bit loud at night due to activities in the square (which we probably just should have attended!).

I loved this hotel. Orologio is a wonderful place to stay in Bologna. It’s located right at a corner of the main historical place, the rooms are beautiful. It looks like they have more traditional styled rooms and more modern ones, when booking I opted for the more traditional style. When visiting very old historical cities I like if the hotel design matches and is not too modern and I was very satisfied. Also like to mention that it looks like they upgrade guests if they have this possibility which is a great service to the guest. Service and friendliness deserve to be mentioned specifically – room service for breakfast (see picture) and diner if you like, umbrellas available if it’s raining, you get a free city guide at arrival, big selection of tea in your room, free candies, etc. It’s just the many little details which make a difference. And I also like to mention the room maids, the rooms are very, very clean despite being staffed with furniture which is not easy to clean.

The only thing which in my opinoin might be improved, is that they might add a little enlarging lighted mirror to the bath room. But that’s a personal preference. I like if I have very bright light when doing make up or using my contact lenses.

The location was excellent just close to piazza maggiore. Family run personal service. All the staff were really good, very friendly and helpful. Front desk and breakfast service was perfect. The room was cosy, comfortable and kept very clean. The bed was very comfortable with lovely linen. Amenities in the room were good with a powerful hairdryer!

There was inadequate facilities for relaxing, just a small seating area near the breakfast room. It is rated as a 4 star hotel, but has Inadequate bar and food service for a 4 star hotel.

The location is perfect for walking all over the city, right at Piazza Maggiore and walkable to so many fabulous restaurants. The hotel is in a pedestrian zone, but the wonderful hotel staff was very helpful providing instructions on how to access the hotel via car to check in and then direct us to a reserved (very close) parking space. The hotel staff was very welcoming, friendly and very helpful with helping book dinner reservations. We stayed in a lovely suite, which was very spacious, comfortable and had all the amenities that you could need. Breakfast was the same daily, but had plenty of options. The only thing we wished the hotel had was a formal bar area. Overall, we 100% would chose this hotel again the next time we are in Bologna!

No complaints. Only nice to have would have been a more formal bar area, but there are MORE than enough places right outside the doorstep!

We arrived by plane/taxi and left by train - very convenient transfers. We had a side view of Piazza Maggiore -magic. We arrived early and had access to our room. The hotel was really charming. We were amused to find Anthony Seddon had left a message in the guest book. The hotel could not have been in a more convenient spot but it was quiet. We loved it.

The price of hotels seem to have gone up dramatically. I find Italian beds too firm (and the pillows).

The location of the hotel was perfect! It allowed us to easily walk to our points of interest and the numerous wonderful restaurants in the city center. It also put us walking distance to the train station making it easy for us to take day trips to Venice and other cities. The breakfast was very good and the staff were very helpful and attentive. The room as not large but very comfortable. We really enjoyed the table/booth seating in the room.

Staff was helpful especially Juneth. Location was great.

Transportation to airport was not free as stated in the description on Bookings. We were charged 30E for a ride to the airport. Could hear occupants above us. Also initially hotel wanted to charge us for extra occupants (30E per night) even though I stated 2 per room. The manager/owner was nice enough to waive this extra charge but it shouldn't have been charged in the first place.

This is a very, very nice place to stay in Bologna--small, full of art (some to our taste and some not), but most of all exceedingly comfortable and friendly. We were upgraded to a junior suite and a small chilled bottle of prosecco was waiting for us--a nice way to start our visit to the City. The hotel is a few steps away from the Piazza Maggiore and students play music and party there, so it's not quiet with the windows open, but closing the shutter blocks the noise. The bed was the most comfortable we had during three weeks in Italy. Our traveling companions had a car, and the sole parking space is several blocks away, but very safe.

We did have to choose between open windows as we slept and quiet, but that is true of almost any downtown, central hotel in Italy, especially in a university town like Bologna.

We arrived late and were greeted by Antonella who was very helpful finding us somewhere to eat just before the restaurants were closing. The hotel is perfectly situated, the room was clean and quiet and the beds comfortable. The breakfast team were attentive and the breakfast was plentiful, varied and tasty. On our second night Antonella found us an excellent restaurant in a quiet street. Check out was smooth and efficient.

There was nothing we did not like.
