Albergo delle Drapperie

The staff were lovely, the room was functional and extremely clean. The location was fantastic -- so central and convenient, close to restaurants, shops, historical sights, etc., and only a 25-min walk from the Central train station.

My sleep was disrupted each morning because of the early hours of the fish shop outside my window. This was not terrible, as I am generally able to get back to sleep in such situations, but it was a bit of a nuisance, and it would surely be a problem for people who have more trouble sleeping. The bed was sufficiently comfortable but additional blankets would have made sleeping a but nicer.

This cute hotel is in a lovely location! Stores selling fruit or Italian culinary items or flowers (yes, and fish) right outside the hotel entrance. It’s walking distance to so much of the historic center of the city. And just nearby, the yummy piadina shop for inexpensive, but filling lunches. The staff were sweet and very helpful (especially Camilla!) and ordered us an early morning 04:00 taxi. The triple room she upgraded us to was gorgeous and spacious with pretty views onto rooftops (we used a white noise phone app, so the fish vendors didn’t bother us). We would absolutely stay here again.

The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. Location was fantastic with many restaurants, shops and beautiful sites to see. The hop on hop off bus was located with in a 5 minute walk. We met many locals that were wonderful and welcoming. We had wonderful wine, flower, fruits and vegetable stands right outside our hotel door. We were traveling with my elderly parents and the staff was very kind in helping with luggage. They also help with making restaurant reservation and arranging transportation. I would definitely stay here again very quaint!

Just be prepared for the stairs you have a two flights of stairs to climb before you reach to elevators but the staff will help with luggage.

The location is exceptional, right in the muddle of the medieval market area. Fruit stallvright outside the door, fish stall to the right and lots of restaurants round the corner!

The hotel is 'historic" which translates to "old'. It was hot when I was there in July and I really had to turn the air con down low to get it to cool the room properly. Staff were very helpful - they will lend you a kettle for your stay and give you some paper cups (none in my room) or you can borrow from the Breakfast room. That was good.

Old Bologna building reflecting city atmosphere. Located so close to Piazza Maggiore which is the heart of city. Be prepared for the smells coming outside cause there is beautiful flower shop just across the street also lots of marcados nearby. If you do not like raw fish smells be prepared cause there is another local store near the entrance of hotel, it hadn’t bother me. Staff were so helpful even they made me a small city route that I just had 3 or 4 hours in Bologna. You’ll adore rustic decoration of both room and lobby.

There are a lot of local stores nearby so it could be irritating for sensitive people

Fabulous location, just a couple of minutes from Piazza Maggiore. Beautiful room which was a good size and spotlessly clean. The hotel is in the old part of the city, on a narrow street lined with many little shops and cafes and I loved hearing all the hustle and bustle going on when I opened the windows. Breakfast was included and there was a good choice of continental options. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and very helpful . I had fractured my ankle the week before visiting so was hobbling around with a walking stick and medical boot and they helped getting my case up and down the stairs and into my room. We arrived early and were flying home in the evening and on both days we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel. I will definitely stay here again when visiting Bologna.

I liked everything

Best location in Bologna. We stayed in a gorgeous, beautifully appointed Junior suite bedroom (#201) loved the view looking down on to one of the sweet little lanes. Breakfast was included, lovely fresh brioche, cold cuts, a bowl of fresh fruit etc.. coffee. The staff at the hotel were absolutely delightful, booked restaurants and taxi for us. Thank you both ! I highly recommend Albergo delle Drapperier !! it is right in the middle of all the beautiful little pedestrian streets and the markets that set up in the morning, selling fresh produce, very lively & buzzy & lots of little bars and a few steps from Piazza Miaggiore. Really is located in a very special part of Bologna.

Having to leave !

The staff was very helpful and the hotel is very conveniently located, only 3 minutes from the piazza. Via Drapperie has flowers, vegetables, and (unfortunately every day except Monday for the lingering odor that invades the hotel) a fish market directly across the narrow street. The hotel is nicely appointed with beautiful murals and framed art work.

As noted, the fish odor on the common areas was mildly unpleasant. The hotel’s plumbing shows its age. The bathroom’s cleaning was substandard - mold present along the edge of the sink, for example.

The hotel is very well located, in the historic center of Bologna. All the attractions (exception the Santuario Madonna di San Luca) and restaurants that I went were just a few meters from the hotel. The staff are attentive and helpful. The room is spacious. The breakfast is good.

The only problem is the noise too early. As there are fish markets in the street of the hotel, these markets receive products very early. They should improve the soundproofing of the rooms.

The location was amazing! So central and so easy to walk everywhere. There are quite a few stairs to get up to the front desk, but the staff were happy to help with bags if you need help. The staff made an excellent recommendation for a restaurant reservation and booked us a taxi to the airport for early in the morning. The room was small, but very comfortable and had mini balconies that overlooked the side streets. It was beautiful!

There is a fish market just up the street, so it smelled a quite fishy when we arrived.
