Hotel Orcagna

What we liked the most was the location; in a very local neighborhood, far from the tourist crowds and just a 20-30 minutes walk to main attractions. It gave us the opportunity to experience Florence and its nice neighborhoods interacting with locals at the gelaterías, ristorantes, trattorias, markets, ect. The staff at front desk, Cristina and Klevia helped us with options to get to Florence when we got stuck in another city due to a train cancellations. They also helped us with the bus tickets. The room was very spacious, quiet, clean and modern with a nice balcony. Breakfast was varied (not just a croissant).

We've rented two double rooms for one night but the lady at the reception upgraded one room to a suite which is located somehow in the back garden by the hot tub. The suite has a mini kitchen where one my cook breakfast. However the included breakfast provided by the hotel is very good so we didn't used the kitchen. The rooms were very clean and well equipped with comfy beds and a large bathroom. The hotel is located somehow outside the main touristic areas which makes it perfect for longer stays as the neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. There's plenty of restaurants nearby and one can walk to the city center in less than 15 minutes. I would book this hotel again even for longer stays.

The Orcagna is a lovely little boutique hotel that is super clean and well located. If you're a walker, it is within walking distance of all points of interest, and if you can find your way to the river, you'll always find your way home. You can take the bus from the train station and then it's a short walk to the hotel. The breakfast buffet is fantastic and offers a great deal of variety - they'll even make you a cappuccino upon request. Our room was the penthouse suite with a private hot tub and sundeck. The views were breathtaking! The staff was was kind and helpful and even made us a bagged breakfast when we had early departures. It was a fabulous place to stay in Florence!

Our only comment about our penthouse suite was the way the bathroom connected the two sleeping areas. While it was fine in theory, it was completely open and did not provide any privacy. We were four friends travelling together and think that perhaps a curtain on either end of the bathroom would solve the problem - your North American travellers would appreciate the privacy. This is a minor issue in the overall experience - we still loved our suite!

Breakfast was better than expected as was the room. Clean (although bedspreads need to be updated - stained). A 20-30 min walk from the main part of the tourist area however because of this it was a nice quiet area and we had a balcony which was great. Lots of restaurants nearby. 10 min walk from the Campo Marte train station.

Beds were a bit hard but not bad. Bedspreads were old and in need of updating. The elevator just fits two small people without luggage - we had no problem using the stairs but others might.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel, we were welcomed by reception and everything was explained and our Qs answered. The room itself was really spacious and had plenty of storage as well as the usual mini fridge, kettle, etc. The location is not too close to the busy areas but within walking distance to most attractions such as the Duomo. The room was cool with air con and quiet at night so we got a good nights sleep. The breakfast room was bright and clean with a good selection of food to start your day. Both receptionists were so lovely and Clevie in particular was so helpful and accommodating, she was very kind to us. We had a wonderful time and were sad to leave the hotel and the beautiful city of Florence.

We had the family suite at 5th floor with a jacuzzi and a duomo view. Everything was perfect. The staff are so friendly and helpful especially Cristina at the front desk. Last day we had the train tickets at 2:30 pm so she did all the arrangements with the sister hotel,(Hotel Alva, just a couple minutes walk to the train station), to put our luggage in the lockers until the time we left, if we return in the future to Florence, we would definitely stay there again. Thank you!

Spotlessly clean, modern and comfortable, the staff were friendly and very helpful. We had an early morning trip to Pisa booked and the girl at reception (sorry we didn't get her name!) organised a packed breakfast and taxi pick up for us. Thank you x

Hotel is a little bit further out, its a good 20-30 minute walk from the main square, but it was fine and is flat. The taxis are very expensive, plan your journey early to avoid using taxis.

Although this hotel is not directly in the centre of Florence it is only a short walk of about 10 mins max to the main tourist area which means it is nice and quiet at night. There are a few bars, shops and restaurants just around the corner, so you really don't have to go far for anything. We had a good size room with lovely balcony and views. Nice powerful shower. All areas of the hotel were spotlessly clean. The breakfast choice was great, the cakes and pastries were amazing. Staff were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and think it deserves more than a two-star rating.

great location. contemporary design, bright and tastefully decorated. the room was very comfortable with a ample amount of cubicle shelving and storage. staff was very very personable and helpful. breakfast was included and had an abundance of selection all well prepared.

very nice bathroom and shower with glass 1/2 enclosure and rainfall shower - minor issue was that the lip of the shower could’ve been a little taller to prevent water from going onto the floor

The hotel was in a nice quiet area, which was a 15-20 minute walk from the main city area. The room was large, nice, and we had a beautiful balcony. The breakfast had a variety of foods.

It was so hot! The A/C unit did not work at all. My friends and I woke up sweating both nights that we were there, didn't want to be in the room at all during the daytime, even if we were tired. It felt better outside than inside. The wifi wasn't that fast.
