Hotel Por Santa Maria

Location is the key. One is literally in the middle of where all the action is in the city of Florence. It can’t get possibly better than this. The hosts keeps a very good eye on small details as well that the guests might need in a small room. Everything is very functional and all of it works out very well. We did self checkin as we arrived in the evening. Even that experience was superlative.

The only complain I have is about the heating. There was a air conditioner in our room that was supposed to take care of keeping the room warm. But I can’t say the output were fully rewarding.

I had a wonderful experience during my stay. The room was not only spacious but also had that charming Italian character, especially the bathroom. What truly impressed me was the seamless check-in process; they provided a key in a secure locker, making our late-night arrival hassle-free. The hosts went above and beyond to accommodate our late check-in, and their warmth and friendliness added a personal touch to our stay. Thanks to the incredibly helpful and amiable hosts for making our visit truly enjoyable.

While the room was comfortable and the hosts were friendly, it's worth noting that there is no kitchen or cutlery provided. If you plan to order food, there's a small mini-bar available that can be used as a refrigerator, but that's the extent of the in-room amenities for preparing or storing food.

For the cheap price this is a perfect hotel! It is simple but has everything you need. It was also clean and well maintained. Even though it is in the heart of Florence it was quiet and felt very secure, there are a number of doors and locks before you even get into the hotel. The hosts were also very friendly and welcoming which made the place feel comfortable.

It is a simple place, nothing fancy which was fine for me but might not be to everyone’s liking.

- Staff were so sweet and kind. Just absolutely amazing and went above and beyond for us. Cannot thank them enough! - Hotel was central and walking distance to everything. - Windows were pretty sound proof considering it was very lively downstairs until 11pm-12am. - Room 4’s view was of the lively street below with buskers singing at night. Fantastic to watch from above. - clean towels every day and bed was made

- poor wifi connection - our room didn’t have a toilet - only a shower and sink. luckily we weren’t in the hotel very much for it to affect us too much however it is a bit awkward to go to. I’d make sure to check if the room says “external bathroom” - bit of a musky smell but wasn’t hard to deal with

The property is 50 m of Piazza della Signoria with its Palazzo Vecchio and Uffizi, in front of a Venchi shop and a H&M shop, and at walking distance of Ponte Vecchio - to me, a fantastic location close of everything! The staff were very nice, allowed us to store the luggage after check out and even ordered a taxi for us late evening. The room was quite large and clean, the internet worked well. This hotel is what in Spain is named "hostel" meaning that the owners took a floor of a building and arranged it in rooms with private bathroom. It is located at the 4th floor and the elevator worked well. Not many guests during our stay.

it is located in the middle of downtown so the main attractions are like 2 minutes walking. it’s crowded and busy when you arrive with the suitcase, but we’ll that’s downtown. I walked 15 minutes to arrive from the train station. the room is clean and cozy, you share a bathroom, but I never had an issue to wait for someone else. They are really friendly and they have a fridge with water that you can buy for .50€ which helps a lot because trust me you will need a lot of water especially in the summer. I would stay there again

The location was excellent and the room was clean! Staff were helpful and friendly! Even though this is an older hotel, the air conditioning worked very well! This hotel provides great value for the location! Although we enjoyed our stay, it may not be for everyone.

The private bathroom (toilet) is across the hall from the room. The shower and sink are in the room. Not that we had any issues, but, some of the counter staff's understanding of English was limited. The elevator (lift) was quite small and a little sketchy... we got stuck once. This can be concerning especially as the hotel does not always have staff there (although they did provide contact information if needed). Make sure you have a cell phone having cell or wifi service with you if using the elevator. Sometimes the automated lights did not come on at night when using the stairs. Room did not have a television.

Staff at the hotel were very nice, and the property is in a very good central location. Walkable from SMN train station (12-15 minutes); near the Ponte Vecchio. Room was quiet (4th floor) despite being close to noisy streets. Clean and fairly comfortable, though basically furnished.

Room was quite small, with little space for storing luggage or placing toiletries in the bathroom. Towels only changed on alternate days. Expensive for what it is, but that's Florence I guess.

The staff were wonderful and so nice and kind. I believe it is a family run place but I am not 100% sure. The room is simple and spartan but has all you need. The location is amazing! Everything is within a few minutes walk. The hotel is on the 4th floor and there is an elevator (very helpful in Europe!).

The A/C didn't work all that well during our stay. It was over 40 degrees with the humidity for most of the days we were in Florence so not having strong air conditioning was difficult at times but it did work. Just could never keep the room very cold or even moderately cold. However, for the price and the location that was only a bit of a challenge. I would stay at the hotel again :).
