Ascotia Off Queen

The staff named Nikka was super helpful. Out of all my years of traveling for over 20 years as an adult she has been one of the best hotel staff I have encountered. She will always be remembered. My girlfriend and I needed a lot of help and also we needed to amend / change our dates staying at the hotel. She was quick, polite, always smiling, and very positive. I hope that the management of the hotel group sees her as an exceptional talent. Outstanding customer service.

Servicing room was a bit sad as no.presenation placing towels in bathroom on towel rack or nicely on the bed . Bed was uncomfortable .

After all the negative reviews I was pleasantly surprised. My room 602 was spacious and comfortable and the bathroom was lovely. On arrival I was greated by a lovely lady on reception along with possibly the manager who happily answered all my queries and couldn't do enough to help. I was there to visit family in Auckland Hospital and it's locality couldn't have be better only a 15 minute walk away. Also having a restaurant on site meant I could get all my meals there without the need to venture further. My Burger and Chips were delicious 😋

We stayed for 2 nights with 2 rooms. Amazing low prices. Location excellent. We took an Uber to Sky Tower, only $9. Also lots of restaurants across the road, we enjoyed ShaolinKungFu Noodle. Everything was clean, beds were comfortable. 2 pillows plus a cushion each. Crisp white sheets and duvet. A cooked and cold buffet breakfast was included. Parking is avaliable for $35 per night. We were outside because we have a large SUV. A bit of a squeeze but manageable. The bathroom was fresh and modern. Water was hot and plentiful the first night and day. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the hot water the second morning but they immediately offered another room's bathroom so we could use that shower. When I requested a hair dryer, and when I reported no hot water, someone was at the door within 5 minutes. Great service!

The cooked breakfast was quite cold. I don't think the burners underneath were lit. It tasted good but should have been hotter. That's the only complaint.

The hotel was clean and tidy with a very nice public lounge area near reception. Check in and out was easy. Our room was compact, clean, comfortable bed, small shower, tea and coffee making facilities. We were only there to sleep so the size didn't really matter. Buffet breakfast was in the hotel next door and was excellent, plenty of variety and friendly staff. Location is excellent, in central City within easy walking distance to the waterfront or Karangahape Road area. Free on site parking and free WiFi but we didn't use the WiFi so can't comment.

When checking in we were not told that we needed a voucher for the breakfast next door, which was embarrassing having to go back and get one.

Very good value for money as we only needed a place to sleep while visiting Auckland for 1 night. The view of Skytower from the hotel room was very nice. Clean and tidy rooms with very friendly staff that even called your room to make sure everything was all good after arrival.

The room was quite compact where you couldn't reach the toilet without the main door closed first. The air con unit didn't work (error code on display and a towel pushed up in the vent in ceiling when we arrived) but never needed the air con so didn't report the issue.

The breakfast buffet was pretty decent. Most of the employees were watm and friendly especially the front desk and the person preparing the buffet except the chef (a bit intimidating with his stares). The room was clean and spacious. It has a lipton wooden box filled with hot chocolate drink, coffee and variety of tea.

The room was a bit thin-walled and could hear the noise from next room and hallway. The vent inside the bathroom is situated on top of your head when you are seated in the toilet seat can be felt with a cold breeze.

We as a couple loved everything about Ascotia, the staff were so professional and accommodating. We had the most delicious curry and pizzas right there in our home for 5 days.Breakfast staff lovely especially the front house woman. We had room 601 which was nice and roomy. Hotel close to everywhere. Definitely coming back so highly recommend.

Door slamming,!!!! loud and seems to ricochet through the building, worse when it's after midnight and early morning.Worse at weekend unfortunately

The location was great for where I needed to be. The Queen room, although small was great for me as a solo traveller. The breakfast was good and had a decent choice for an inclusive breakfast.

I found the room a little cold, but I think that is transitioning from winter to spring. The curtains could be improved to block more light but were adequate. I would suggest adding a coat hook by the wardrobe, and correcting the colour code for hot and cold on the shower, but these are all minor for the price. I would stay again.

I liked the excellent service provided by the Manager Rishi Chopra and his ever helpful team - both the front office staff and the back room staff particularly the Chef Sanjay and the restaurant staff. I would like to give 11 out of 10 instead of 10 out of 10!

The exhaust in the bathroom ensuite was always blowing cold air right below the wash sink where you have to be most of the time. Would have preferred the buffet breakfast had a somewhat different menu instead of the same every morning.
