Martinhal Sagres Beach Family Resort Hotel

The resort and staff are so child friendly it was amazing. Our 1 and 4 year old absolutely loved it. So much for adults iswell and the food in all restaurants is of a v high quality. Looking forward to going back next year.

We stayed in garden villas and whilst they were nice and big they felt dated and the floors were not clean. My kids would have a bath and after 10mins of running around the soles of their feet were filthy. This was disappointing as the rest of the resort was spotless. Our only other negative was the cost. Accommodation is pricey enough which we had no issues with but we spent more in the resort for the 6 days than we did for the stay. Everything from drinks to grocery store to kids club is expensive so be prepared if you do go.

Great facilities to keep the children entertained for a week. A choice of pools and daily kids club activities. Beautifully kept grounds and lovely views from the property. The village square was excellent for the kids and adults with the play area and bar next to each other. We could enjoy sun downers while the kids kept themselves entertained. Food wise-I thoroughly enjoyed the Joseph Grill. Amazing roast chicken.

Having to prebook all the kids activities in advance. The restaurants are quite pricey and it really adds up if you stay a week. House keeping service could have been better, seemed very rushed and not very thorough. Additionally, there’s a lot of walking involved with a few hills etc so just something to be mindful of.

Martinhal Sagres is the perfect place for a family stay. The accommodation was superb - spacious villa with everything a family with children need - even a garden. Having a kitchen was so useful with a baby and a toddler. There were several pools so plenty of choice - including a wonderful garden pool with toddler pool tucked away at the end of our road - we were often the only ones there. So quiet and peaceful for days when other pools were a bit busy. Then there's the beach, plenty of activities, trips into town and to the nearby castle, safe cycle paths.....everything that makes for a really relaxing time to enjoy with children - who all had a great time. Oh and did I mention the fantastic spa? And gym?

Like so many parts of Portugal there are hills! I didn't mind - all good exercise - but people with mobility problems may find some challenges. Restaurants were good but not fabulous and a little expensive.

Martinhal was the perfect place for families with children. There are several pools and restaurants so each day can be different. It is close to Sagres for a trip to the fort or the lighthouse and for outings to see whales and dolphins - or just a night out on the town. The resort provides lots of play areas for children as well as children's entertainment. The beach is a minute away with water sports such as sea kayaking and windsurfing. Accommodation is very child focussed with everything you need for a restful holiday. And the children love it!

There is no stand out excellent restaurant although food is always good.

Amazing breakfast, great service, beautifully designed property, solid restaurants for a resort. Very kid friendly down to the last detail like having kids toilets and free kids entertainment during meals.

A little isolated on the far side of the Algarve which made it hard to tour the area and meant the sea water was super cold. Food was really good but better food could be found in the area for a fraction of the price. Kids club was great, but had very limited availability especially for ages 4-8 which is the sweet spot for kids wanting to do kids club

Everything about the property has been so well thought out for families to enjoy the beauty of Sagres and its beaches in pure comfort. The ocean Villas have great views and very spacious and cleaned every day too which is a bonus.

Restaurants very expensive but the food is delicious so still worth eating in them. There was a little confusion between departments (from concierge to reception to gym to watersports) a few times but it wasn't a problem in the end. Would be nice if they topped up the coffee and tea every day too.

Everything was fine. Perfect for families with kids. one of the most beautiful places at the Algarve.

Loved the space and all the different areas. Great property with all facilities you can think a family with young kids would need.

I didn’t like that everything for the kids needed to be booked in advance - we weren’t aware of this before arrival and it was near impossible to get my 6 year old into the kids club and she was so disappointed. I would not have booked this in advance of somewhere I have never been nor met any of the minders, so it’s a shame it was totally booked up when we arrived. it was the same for swimming lessons too and the knock on effect meant we couldn’t use the spa facilities or book any treatments. having to pre book everything really takes away from the “holiday” component and taking each day as it comes for us.

Amazing resort, perfect for our first family holiday with 10 month old baby! Everything was designed to make life easy with a little one, from stair gates and high chair as standard in the villa, to the wonderful staff and creche! Loads of baby friendly pools, but it really did feel as parents like you were on a luxury holiday! Beach perfect, restaurants lovely, shop and gym on site, spa sauna steam room it has it all! I could not recommended more, thank you so much to the fantastic staff, nothing was too much trouble we had the best holiday and will be back!

Only minor thing which isn't a reflection on the hotel but it was a bit too far to walk with our buggy into the town, wasn't an issue as we could easy get a taxi or we went on bikes we hired from the hotel, but some people might have wanted to get out a bit more? There's more than enough onsite mind!

The hotel’s structure and staff were great, everything wonderful, well kept, nice pools and restaurants. The room was spacious and had a great view of the sea.

The bathroom was a bit old compared to the room. Also the breakfast was exactly the same every day, they could prepare some different things, fruits or cakes for example to make happier the families that stay more than 5 days in the complex. And the wind: if you are not keen on it, try to avoid July. It was really strong and got really cold even during the day.
