Speechless! I had asked them to reserve the room with a sea view for me to celebrate my wedding anniversary; and, despite the well-known policies of hotels, for which it is impossible to be sure of a specific room, they not only accommodated me but had a bottle of sparkling wine with a HANDWRITTEN message of welcome and best wishes for our anniversary! Exceptional, all in all. From the comfort of the room to the fantastic breakfast. These days finding a 4-star hotel that really lives up to the hype is difficult; the Memmo Hotel seems almost like an old-fashioned hotel, when staying in a hotel was an experience in itself. Thank you Memmo and all the staff, we will definitely be back

Breakfast was incredible, too many options really. The staff, mostly in training, was very attentive and helpful. 5⭐ care for sure. The view from the room of the bay, well just incredible. It just seemed unreal. So beautiful, everywhere you looked and at any time of day.

The food options are confusing. You can order certain items at the pool bar, while other options from room service with an additional fee, and yet other options from the restaurant at certain time. At noon one day, I just wanted a pizza to go to take down to the beach and couldn't figure out how to make it happen. Also, the receipts are confusing. We couldn't tell if there was a service fee included or suggested. We felt we should have been tipping more, certainly for the quality service.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. POSITIVES: -clean -stylish - nice clientele - great pool - fantastic breakfast - stunning views - really lovely staff, always attentive and ready to help - kids play area with a trampoline, climbing wall and swing - beach accessories available at reception - walking distance to lots of beautiful restaurants Sagres is a stunning chilled out town. Some of the best food we have ever had. we would highly recommend this hotel to everyone!

NEGATIVES: -The sofa bed we had was not the most comfortable to sleep on - service at the restaurant and pool bar was at times very poor. Twice my drinks order was completely forgotten about. I had to go and ask for it after waiting for 15 minutes... - the pool is cold at times and with the strong winds it was not v comfortable or relaxing - although i was informed that there was an indoor kids activity room, there was no such thing

Food was excellent. Bedroom very comfortable, the bed was extra large with lovely bedding. Bathroom had great shower and products in it. There is a nice pool with a plenty of sun beds and a great view, a good pool bar serving tasty light lunches, a little on the pricy side but after a great breakfast in the morning, lunch could easily be shared. Staff were very attentive and friendly at all times. It is worth walking from the hotel to the Martin Hall beach which has a lovely independent cafe on the beach for a nice coffee. The hotel has different rooms and facilities on various levels and there are plenty of lifts if you don’t want to use the stairs. It also has a nice indoor pool for exercise.

Our room was meant to have a “garden” view. In reality it looked out onto the car park and the main reception entrance. As we didn’t like the airconditioning, we had the window open at night, which was a patio door, there was no balcony or outside space. This meant we were woken several times a night by barking dogs and people leaving the reception area. During the day there was also some building work noise due to the rooms below being upgraded. We did ask on arrival if we could upgrade our room but we’re told this was not possible as they were fully booked. The steps direct from the hotel grounds onto the beach below are very steep and do not have hand railing so not very safe to use. Though if you leave from the reception area, there are public steps you can use with hand railing.

Great location - rooms were amazing and great setup for a young family.

The pool needs refurbishment or a minimum maintenance. Two of our three children got splinters from the poorly maintained, degraded wooden pool surrounding. Our eldest required medical attention due to the size of the splinter embedded in his foot. The indoor pool has a swim cap policy that is not remotely enforced. The hotel happily sells swim caps but after purchasing you rapidly realise nobody enforces this rule and consequently it is not adhered to - suggest removing this antiquated rule.

The location is unbelievably beautiful. Outstanding service in the restaurant and at the reception. The manageress who checked us in and out was very accommodating and helpful. Good first impression always sets the tone for the entire stay. Although the property itself is four star, the quality of the food and service was pushing five star. Our room was spacious with tasteful contemporary interior design. The small kitchenette was a nice addition to the room.

I liked everything. No shortcomings.

The breakfast buffet was superb. With a number of guests all coming at around the same time, it was a little hit and miss as to what table you got, but the staff were always willing to help and you could wait if you preferred a table in the sun or near the window. The serving staff were attentive and quick to offer coffee and hot chocolate (which our girls declared “the best ever”). The pool was a major highlight. It sits overlooking the local harbour and has a very cool and comfortable pool bar which serves food and cocktails. A big plus at the bar - Pedro. Always accommodating and smiling. When his days off fell on our last two days, it just wasn’t the same. He was chatty, but not intrusive and his margaritas were fabulous! Vitor at front desk was always beaming. Maria, the manager, who, amazingly, seemed able to remember people’s names and room numbers and was always smiling and friendly. You could take a back path from the pool down to the nearby beach and harbour, there was fun little trampoline built into the ground and which our older kids took full advantage of. Outside the hotel is a road lined with great, unassuming little restaurants serving local food. There’s loads to do - fishing, dolphin watching, cycling down the road for ice-cream or to the gorgeous Beliche beach.

The waiter who attended our last dinner and sighed with exasperation, pointedly looking at his watch when we said we needed more time to decide our mains (we’d just told him our starters), saying that there was another round of people coming to dinner in an hour and a half. I understand the need for moving things along, but what he did was just plain rude and not done with even a hint of a smile. It cast a bit of a pall over our mood. Literally the first person we met at Memmo who wasn’t incredibly smiley and kind. Our other meals were a dream, and our waiters - notably Kleidy - were so personable and helpful with making suggestions for things we’d like.

The hotel was truly exceptional, with a wonderful view. The room itself was quite comfortable, and the shower was equally enjoyable. While I didn't have the chance to take a dip in the pool, it certainly appeared inviting. However, the real highlight of my stay was the breakfast, which exceeded all expectations. It offered an impressive array of options, making it the most delightful breakfast experience I've ever had.

Despite the presence of a huge parking area, I struggled to find an available spot for my car. I had no choice but to park it outside.

We got a room with a view and a terrace which was a huge plus for us. Sleeping with open windows, listening to the waves, and having a morning coffee in the terrace was an amazing experience. Staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was nice. We appreciated the free parking and surfing possibility. We had a fantastic private surf lesson with Leon who is truly a wonderful teacher with exceptional knowledge. Both the hotel and the surfing lesson are highly recommended!

The location of the hotel is really exceptionnal It looks very new and clean The restaurants also have a view overlooking the port and sunrise

The decoration of the premises is minimalistic and cold ; an addition of paintings or pictures is really needed in the corridors and in the rooms. The hotel will then become cosy, which it is not yet. The staff is not really friendly nor welcoming = smiles are not included in the hotel price ! A pity...
