Pousada de Sagres

Great staff at reception and dining room. Beautiful view.

Breakfast; the coffee was very poor quality, the eggs (fried, scrambled, omelet) were all precooked so early that they were very unappetising - please try to prepare just before the breakfast hour. No facecloths in the bathroom and, surprisingly, none available from housekeeping or reception. Suggest they be standard in the rooms or, at the least, available upon request.

Stunning view from the room, our balcony was directly facing the Sagres fort and we also could see both sunrise and sunset, amazing! Inspiring and romantic place to be and to ponder the Age of Discoveries and astonishing achievements of the great Portuguese navigators. We were lucky to have perfect weather, but of course Sagres can also be very windy. Many thanks to all staff both at the front desk and at the restaurant, we felt welcomed and comfortable. The pousada is a very relaxing space and has nice large common areas with lots of vintage photos of sailing yachts and old maps. Lovely daily swimming at Mareta beach. Water was clean and temperature refreshing, but warm enough to enjoy. We also went to Cape Sao Vicente for sunset one evening which was a fun experience.

We liked everything.

We were 4 nights at Pousada and it was an amazing stay. The room was big and airy and the view (sea) stunning. It was quiet and peaceful during the night and the bed was very comfy. The breakfast was very good and the service excellent. We also attended the barbecue on Saturday and had another dinner - both times the food was very delicious and the service brilliant. All team members were very friendly and attentive, from the first to the last day of our stay. I can really recommend this hotel.

We had a lovely big room with a balcony and beach view, as we'd booked. The staff were attentive, helpful and friendly. The breakfast was great and lovely to be able to sit out on the terrace.

The only thing wrong was the bed frame. It was damaged and made a loud creaking noise. We didn't find out until bedtime so it was too late to ask to change rooms. The bed was okay to sleep on apart from the noise! It has been reported to the staff but if you are allocated room 204 check the bed first!

The view was amazing and the hotel was very nice. The staff was always super friendly and helpful and overall we really enjoyed our stay

the breakfast didn't have so many vegetarian/ vegan options, also the restaurant menu was very slim in healthy options. Therefore we would have liked to eat breakfast somewhere else, but it wasn't possible to book the room without breakfast. We would have liked to eat better overall and have the option to book without breakfast because it didn't pay off for us. Luckily there were some good restaurants not too far away.

It's quiet, sometimes it felt a little too quiet. Not much atmosphere. We were glad we only had 2 nights here as there really isn't much for families. The room was beautiful and the view also was amazing.

It's not set up for young families, we also had to book 2 rooms to cater for a family of 4 which then was very expensive but we thought if it's quality it will be worth it but it was not good value for money in the long run.

Stunning location! Make sure you get the room with the ocean view. It's incredibly amazing. From the sunrise to the breathtaking sunsets. All in your hand. Such wonderful beds! We've had the most comfortable sleep ever! Super friendly and helpful service. Especially during the breakfasts. Loved the food selection - cakes, fruits, lovely fresh bread.

A bit oldish decor but it's understandable in such historic location. Not much service in swimming pool area - also late season so it's not essential.

The staff is very welcoming and friendly, all young people extremely engaged to make you feel pleasant. The view from the sea side rooms are spectacular, I could sit there and watch forever.

The rooms could get an update in terms of furniture, bath rooms, TV, etc but otherwise very comfortable particularly the balcony with sea views 🤩

The staff are a real credit to this hotel. They went above and beyond to make our stay special. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you. The location and views from this hotel are simply stunning. We stayed for rest and relaxation which we got in abundance. Also, the breakfast was lovely with a good range to cater for all.

If I dare say the rooms are a little tired.

We had a large private balcony overlooking the Sagres cliffs, which is an incredibly wild and beautiful area, with thed endless fascination watching the sea and the surfers in the bay below, wonderful aspect to sit with a glass of wine and watch the sun sink into the sea. The location of the hotel is perfect, perched on the cliffs with a good walking area going from the hotel to a viewpoint. Our room was reasonably spacious with all that necessary to have a comfortable stay. Fresh, clean sheets and wonderful cosy quilts with comfortable pillows. Also within a short and easy walk into the small town of Sagres, and perfect base for exploring the area as we did daily.

The mattress was a little firm for me but the staff provided a mattress topper which solved the problem and I then slept very well for the rest of our stay.
