Hotel Ginebra

I picked this hotel because of its location on the corner across from Placa de Catalunya which made it very convenient for walking various parts of the city. The hotel is in a six story beautiful old charming building but the hotel only occupies two floors with the lobby on the third floor with some rooms and the rest of the rooms on the second floor. I understand that other parts of the building are Air B&B. The refrigerator was a small but not stocked with expensive items so you have the refrigerator space for yourself. The elevator holds about two people. The staff were exceptional and the hotel is old but very clean. Upon my arrival they gave me a box of candy and a small bottle of cava which was a nice touch. I had a small quiet room which I expected just off the lobby level which was comfortable for my four day stay. It is not a luxury type hotel but very functional and clean with reasonable pricing. They offer an optional breakfast at a nearby cafe with a ten percent discount which I did not use. Aerobus service to and from the airport is in front of nearby El Corte Ingles Department Store.

Great location. Excellent customer service. Employees went above and beyond to make sure my stay was exceptional. This is not a negative, but I was a little confused when I arrived. The hotel is on the 3rd floor. It's difficult to tell that it is a hotel. Was very similar to a B&B but with superior customer service. Excellent location. Close to everything. I felt very safe. It's in a great part of the city (even my former tour manager said so).

I had trouble understanding that the hotel was upstairs on the 3rd floor. Maybe that needs to be noted in the information. Even though it doesn't have a high star rating under "hotels," it was better than the 4-star hotel I stayed in the night before. It's more like a 5-star B&B (without the breakfast).

I want to thank the girl at the front desk who offered to check us in 1 hour earlier. We had arrived in the city early and were wondering what to do with our luggage. We decided to leave him at the hotel until it was time to check in. Thank you very much. The hotel is beautiful and in an extremely convenient location for exploring the city. We didn't need public transport, except for the walk to Park Güell, which is reached by bus number 24, which has its first stop next to the hotel. Around the hotel there are countless restaurants, fast food-tapas and grocery stores. This hotel is a great choice if you want to explore Barcelona for a few days. Our room was cleaned every day, and in the evening, tired after walking, we stood on the terrace and drank wine sangria, enjoying Plaza Catalunya and the people.

The location is great, right in the city centre close to the metro and buses but most of the time we walked to all the places we wanted to visit. The bus to and from the airport is located about a 5 minute walk across the square.

Great location connecting to the subway and buses. A lot of big chain restaurants and clothing stores nearby. Room is great, spacious and very comfortable for 3 people. First day we noticed that we were able to connect to the Wifi only by standing next to the door which was fixed the next day after we complained about it to the the girl working the evening shift (the guy that checked us in in the morning blew us off by saying that it is ok when it clearly wasn't)

The room is a bit outdated and could use a little renovation, especially the bathroom. Wifi is very slow even after the reception was fixed

awesome location. no need for public transportation for la ramblas, el born, etc. only time we needed a taxi was to la Sagrada Family/park Guell. Staff were super helpful and kind. great value for the location! take the lift down stairs and you are right at the center of things. Placa Catalunya view from the room!

better instructions for arrival. we expected a separate building so we were confused when taxi left us off….something like. “hotel is located on the third floor of a historic building. ring bell and staff will admit you. lift is directly ahead of you. come to 3rd floor.

This was a great hotel that I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Barcelona and I will use this hotel again when returning to Barcelona. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area, Barcelona and transport. They are available at all times via WhatsApp to recommend places to visit and restaurants to eat if you are out. The location is perfect. Walking distance to casa Batllo, Las Ramblas. Bus and metro and tourist buses just outside on the square. The room was clean and spacious with enough room for two adults and two children. The beds were very comfortable with no complaints from any us. Having a fridge and safe in the room was very helpful too. It also had air conditioning and a large TV but we didn't use these. The room had a small balcony with wonderful original sliding doors and shutters and also modern double glazed doors on the inside. This is a small hotel that makes you feel like a welcomed guest rather than just a room number that you get in big hotels.

I could find no fault with anything.

Don't expect 5 star.Its an old building with small rooms,bed was really comfortable,hot shower,safe box,fridge.We had the room between Hotel Ginebra sign 303.Its on a main crossroad,but with triple window shutter we slept like babies, staff were fantastic and informative on where and how to visit all the sights.Location is dead centre.5 mins walk to gothic quarters restaurants and bars.Metro directly outside,we used it to go Nou Camp and Sagrada Familia.Get Family ticket for €10 to share with partner and you get 8 trips between you on metro.La Taverna de Barcelona next door has live music,great ales and food all weekend till early hours.If you want luxury 5 star prison camps, 10 miles from all the fun with your Ferraris and Rolexs and yachts this ain't the place for you sad people.

Excellent location, right across from Placa de Catalunya. Metro entrance across the street. Easy to walk to tourist sites and neighborhoods. My room had an enclosed balcony so I could enjoy meals or just rest, overlooking the crowds. Europe doesn’t have window screens but the lower portions have metal designs so I opened the windows at night for cool air. Decent Wi-Fi.

It’s an old building so I had to get used to the bathroom system: The sink has a smell after the toilet is used. Make sure the water is drained before opening the shower door. If you’re not used to city noise, this might not be the place for you.

The hotel's location was perfect for our needs. Easy access to the Aerobus and walkable to both the Eixample and the Barri Gotic. We arrived at the hotel before noon, hoping to check our luggage & were pleasantly surprised to be able to check-in early. The lobby was full of travel books & the desk clerk gave us a rundown of the city, drawing suggestions on a map for us. There was a small elevator, which we only used when handling our luggage. Our room had a balcony directly overlooking the Placa de Catalunya-- fabulous. Price was quite reasonable.

We had a bit of a challenge entering the hotel. There's a small doorbell system in the right, with a button for Hotel Ginebra, but there are other uses for the building & the front door is kept locked. The room color choices were odd, but not an issue.
