Well located in the heart of the city, close to La Rambla, the Metro station of Liceu (and the Opera House), and a great place to stay for those who want to get out and about around the city. The hotel is beautifully laid out, with rooms overlooking a communal area below, well-lit via a skylight during the daytime. The en-suite room we had was equipped with an air-conditioning unit, which was easy to use. The rooms are secure enough, using electronic keys. The communal areas are pleasant, with tables and chairs for you to use, and plenty of other seating.

There was not much I did not like; you can tell the hotel is old (the architecture is a wonderful, Art Nouveau style), and there are perhaps one or two repairs or modernisations required, but it had character, and was a wonderful place to stay. Conversations from the communal area carries into the rooms, but this was not really a problem. The hotel exceeded our expectations, we would stay again; however, if you are expecting anything more luxurious than a place to meet, sleep, clean, and take a light breakfast, then this is not for you.

Location is great, few minutes from Boqueria market. Our room was of a good size, the beds are comfortable and the room had a heater/cooler airco that worked perfectly. Breakfast was good: cornflakes, plain yogurt, simple cold cuts and cheese, jam and chocolate spread, two types of bread, juices, coffee and tea. Good value for money.

Very small window to the back, no natural light in the room. Very small bathroom, we are two slim persons but showering was a challenge. Our room was at the end of the corridor, next to the floor’s public toilet (1st floor has a large patio, this is for the ppl who sit around there).

Location was really good, just off the ramblas. I'd read some poor reviews for this hotel and figured it was a 'marmite' hotel.. People either love or hate.. Hotels in barca are always on the expensive side in my experience but I found for a similar price we've paid on other barca hotels we had a much more pleasant experience. Yes the hotel is basic but our room was spotless.. Yes its a little bit quirky but I personally really liked that. There's nothing luxorious or modern about this hotel-if you want that book a diff one(I'd suggest wander by Pillow also just off the ramblas for a newer feel). I can't speak for all the rooms but ours, 106, was spot on and exceeded my expectations. The breakfast again was basic but adequate and again most hotels for same price or more you don't get a breakfast.

Room was basic, but nice. It had all the necessary features. Location was perfect, but still the room was extremely quiet and I did not hear anything from outside. Inner court yard was beautiful.

I never got the wifi working in my room. Small windows with little amount of natural light.

First off the reception staff was helpful and friendly. The location is perfect, just along the Ramblas, very central. Short walk to the mercado and all the sights. The room was great, I loved the vibe. The matrass on the bed was indeed quite hard but I like that. Slept like a baby :) Very much appreciated the towels and soap in the bathroom. Shower was good. Pricewise and also in terms of charm this place is a gem. All in all, had a very good stay. Did not use the breakfast so no clue on that.

Nothing really. You get what you pay for. If you want romantic and comfy, this is probably not the place for you. If you are looking for a 1-2 night stay just to sleep then this place is perfect. Bring your earplugs, but are you even a traveller if you go without them ;)

The location was great, just off La Rambla, in walking distance of most attractions but also very close to the metro so easy to jump on and off with the HolaBarcelona pass. The room was clean and tidy and the air conditioning worked well.

Breakfast was quite basic with not much choice for non-meat eaters. Luckily there were boiled eggs which we had every morning, but could be better with some salt and pepper. The market is right down the road so we went there to buy fresh fruit as there wasn't any at breakfast.

The room was basic, but comfortable, and breakfast exactly what was needed before heading out to re-explore Barcelona. Hotel Peninsular's central location is very convenient and the hotel is in the heart of Barcelona - the ever-vibrant Ramblas. The only drawback is Las Ramblas is that you have to stay alert to petty crime, like in any major city.

No complaints about the property. I was puzzled by the position of the toilet in the bathroom was a bit cramped (right up against the wall), but it was clean and worked.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Peninsular Hotel and I must say it was an absolute delight. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed with the level of service. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, ensuring that I had everything I needed to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. The bed was so comfortable and the room was very big. We stayed in Attic 1. The hanging plants were incredible. It was very unique. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Overall, I cannot recommend the Peninsular hotel enough. It truly exceeded all my expectations and I look forward to returning in the future. Special shoutout to Alicia, one of the staff, who was very nice. 😀

Excellent position of the hotel for sightseeing, in a side street of La Rambla, a minute away from a subway station. Although the hotel is in the quarter Raval and there's street prostitution around the corner, you should not be afraid. Inside the hotel there's a green courtyard, perfect meeting point, when you travel with groups. And an oasis compared with the noisy streets outside. You will have problems to find a better hotel of this quality and this cheap prize in the city centre of Barcelona.

Breakfast is ok, but you only get, what is needed to call it breakfast. And because there are many young guests, the breakfast room can be a little bit loud.

The staff were so helpful and kind, it felt safe, there was someone on reception all night, the building is a beautiful old building which in its hey day would have been amazing, has rustic charm. A very good location for exploring Barcelona, 3 minute walk to the metro on one of the main streets in Barcelona, yet would not know that from the hostel.

The hotel rooms are arranged around a central courtyard, a bit like a riad, and it was very echoey, so very easy to hear others and it was not to bad. If I’m honest the room was very basic, but very clean and comfortable enough .
