Duo Galata Hotel

the location of the hotel was awesome. in the heart of historical place and just a few steps away from Galata tower. the entrance seems a bit strange though, but the person sitting as the reception is a very friendly guy with a good English. we stayed there for 5 nights. our room was located in the direction of Galata tower and we could see the tower from the window which made the room so amazing. even though you are in the heart of Istanbul, it is not annoying at all if you close the windows and you can easily sleep without noticing any sound from outside. we reserved our room without Breakfast but the breakfast is served in a wonderful Cafe nearby called Guney which is just around the tower and you can enjoy wonderful breakfast in a beautiful place. I recommend this hotel to all the people loving historical area and love to be in crowded places, you will definitely enjoy it.

if you are expecting a big room or too much facilities in the room, you are selecting the wrong place. the hotel is not providing so many things in the bathroom (only soap, shampoo and showergel) and for sure towels. which was not a big deal for me but maybe it matters for others. the lift is small so make sure you are not going to fill it with too many luggages!!!

The staff and the location 👍

Our stay was 7 days, but the drinking water was only for the first day, and when we asked the reception, they answered us because it is only for one day and this is very strange!

Location was perfect. Room was fairly good, clean and tidy. no breakfast was included. For us we found it very noisy but very convenient to all the touristy places.

No reception area as such. You entered through a coffee shop and the tiny office/reception area was behind. A bit confusing. Not a good first impression.

This hotel is just in the middle of Istanbul center, in a very busy place, very very near the Galata tower (just literally aound the corner). The rooms are just the size enough for a short stay in Istanbul and to know the city.

Expect some noise, as the area is very busy. The shower water pressure isn't really that strong.

location is great

although city location is great, hotel is located in the same building as bar upstairs. so you need to stare elevator with some drunk guests of the bar

Great location for almost all tourist spots and convenient for public transport including the ferry. Galata tower nearby and visible from the room. Very impressive to hear the nearby minaret Clean room and very helpful staff. Very large shower and clean bathroom. Very romantic, hassle-free and memorable week-long stay. Highly recommended.

Only downsides: -the shower did not drain well - they were unable to repair the lift and we had to walk 4 floors

Perfect position, just a minute walk from Galata tower. Also 1 minute walk to tunel station where you can get to karakoy with tunel, or taskim square with tramway. It's in the street where a lot of the movida takes place, with lots of shops and restaurants; from our room we could hear some noise at night, but in the morning everything was quiet. If you're a light sleeper I'd recommend some earplugs. The staff was very kind and the cleanliness was impeccable. To get there from karakoy I recommend the tunel as I said, because it's a very steep climb with bags and luggages. Overall I absolutely recommend it

nothing wrong

Location is perfect if someone wants to stay around walk in distance to Galata Tower, Istiklal Street and Taqsim Square, plus two metro stations, karakoy and Sishane at 5 minutes walk. Reception is available 24 hrs. The host Borah and Ahmed are very friendly and helpful if you need and guidance or assistance. Downside of the location, bcz it is main tourist spot, everything around is 4x expensive, specially the food, restaurants around are very poor and they charge hell lot of money.

Washroom is very small and door is not sealed so the smell from washroom can easily pass through the room, which makes it unpleasant, bugs from the washroom, and washbasin in the room is very akward and inconvenient.

Best location ever! Hotel had really thin walls tho. We could hear everything. Even the cats outside at night time.

we had no view from the room. The view was literally out to a rise. Everything was good apart from the thin walls which meant that you could hear all the other guests in their rooms. In addition, you must also take into account that the hotel is a good walk up the hill. You can quickly get tired of it.

We would We loved the location, it's perfect. We also loved the view of Galata tower and the receptionists who were all very nice to talk to and they always helped us and managed our requests. And we loved the detail of leaving a gift chocolate box in our room for New Year. All in all, we would come back again!

It was very hard to manage the water temperature in the shower and the sink in the room has both advantages and disadvantages comparing to a classic one in the toilet. Some of the lights were not working as well so the room was a bit dark at some times. The room seems a bit bigger on the photos.
