Sofitel Istanbul Taksim

First of all i want to thank the amazing staff as they were the best, helpful and they went above oir expectation to make our stay enjoyable, from Eran, Meltem with her beautiful smile, Eroy, John, Erda, Onur, Tufan and everyone who worked at Sofitel definitely i will comeback again. Big,beautiful and clean rooms. check in and checkout was smooth. Ounr and Erda help us move our luggage far away from the hotel as all streets was closed they helped us with great vibes and beautiful smiles. Great and helpful staff and management. Excellent location. Fantastic services. Comfortable room.

The wonderful staff made me feel at home. As I arrived too early before check-in time, John offered me a welcome breakfast to enjoy the facility before i could reach my suite, he made sure that I had the best one. The Chief concierge Aykan and Kaan, the king, made sure that my day was just perfect and well managed in every way possible. Erkan made sure that my room was clean and warm everyday. He always made sure that I had enough chocolate and coffee. As I was checking out Aykan made sure that my meet and greet was ready at the airport along with the transportation. I could not believe it when I saw Utku running after me with my credit card in the car, because I forgot it at the reception.

The location is super amazing as it’s in the center of Taksim square. Everything is nearby from restaurants, shops, cafes & more. The staff re really attentive, lovely & professional especially the housekeeping guys & La Table restaurant like Mr. Mehmet Bedir, Mr. Umit, Muhammet & more. The rooms are spacious (look for Superior King room). The Bathroom is spacious. The hotel is new hence the furniture is comfy.

The price is too high. The breakfast is ok, not impressive & like Sofitel standard food. The Superior king room’s bed is supposed to be a double one but instead, they put two beds next to each other which creates a hole or a crack in the middle so you kinds sink while asleep! Not comfortable & quite bizarre (despite calling them to fix the issue). The service is slow! So annoying as you’d have to wait a long time before you get your requests addressed (maybe due to lack of staff & so many guests at the hotel). There’s a check in security everyone you enter the hotel which is a bit annoying.

inner swimming pool was too cold (not heated). as we checked out very early morning, we were offered breakfast package which was awfully prepared and was poor this was a shame for a 5 star hotel

We were on the top floor and there is a restaurant and a club on the roof.. the problem is that all the smells of the oil through the air conditioning go down to the upper rooms..

the room is big and clean and the location is very close of Taksim metro station their breakfast buffet is abundant and delicious, definitely worth of having it(around 450NTD per person) their staff from the security at the entrance to their colleagues at reception are so willing to assist dwellers with heart-warming smiles:)))

They actually DONT have pre-paid dinner(dinner including) this option on Booking.com so if you wanna have dinner at their restaurant you need to take order there and pay there. However, I did choose breakfast and dinner both including option form Booking.com and I prepaid with my credit card but they said they don't have dinner including this option. In Turkey, using Booking.com is restricted so I could't show them what I saw via Booking.com I can only provide them the confirmation email with "breakfast and dinner are included". They finally arranged me kinda small snack bar only available from 7pm to 8pm with few pieces of pizza, sweets, tangerines and juice. It is definitely not the dinner which I paid for around 800NTD per person.

Location is super, it's clean and rooms are beautiful. Spa is amazing.

We stayed on the 8th floor and thought everything was great until we found out the 9th floor was a venue that had a full blown crazy loud part EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. we couldn't go to bed before 1am.

nothing in the minibar was very annoying. But it is close to shops and markets, so not a problem. they said this was ‘pandemic protocol’ which didn’t make a lot of sense to me. once you drink the two bottles of water in the room, that’s it.

The rooms need some deep cleaning, dust on the vents and lots of stains on the wood floor. Also the service isnt consistent some of the staff are amazing while the rest just couldn't care less and the breakfast was quite disappointing.

Overall the hotel is excellent to say the least. Without a doubt the best thing about the hotel is the staff. I particularly want to thank Nova and Suari at the SPA for the outstanding service, but also the staff at the entrance for arranging taxis (and avoiding getting ripped off), at the reception and at breakfast who were always eager to help. Thank you to the staff at the reception who allowed us for a late check-out as our flight was late in the evening. We loved the SPA facilities and the fact that it is separated women and men makes it easier. Treatment level was fantastic. Pool area is very nicely done as is the gym. The hotel itself is very clean, modern and has excellent location. I think it would be a good fit to first-timers, people who want a very centrally located and safe place. It might be helpful to know for other travelers that the hotel arranged a nurse to come do our PCRs in our room that were necessary for our flights. Also i would like to congratulate them on their Covid-19 guidelines, all the staff were wearing their masks properly and guests who did not were reminded to do so by the staff. Ample sanitizers, cleaning at breakfast, masks, etc. Attention to detail is definitely appreciated. We had plenty of bottled water every day in our room and every night staff passed by with chamomile tea and some chocolate. We loved that little ritual and it was so good to sleep afterwards. Also it was lovely to see my favorite perfume brand Atelier Cologne and its signature pomelo paradis line in the rooms.

Do yourself a favor and ask for a room not overlooking Taksim (it gets so noisy). I don't have anything in particular I didn't like apart from the noise, just some recommendations for the hotel. My suggestion to the hotel would be to include glasses and cups to the room(ours didn't have any), even in Covid-19 times I think they are necessary as well as to add some more tea flavors. While breakfast was very good, we thought food quality wasn't matching rest of the services. The area for the indoor pool is fantastic but a higher water temperature would be preferred in winter. We were there while it was snowing and we found the temperature a bit chilly.
