The Smiddy Haugh is a beautiful Inn run by a lovely couple (and their dog). The room was spacious and comfortable with a big tv and full sky package. Our room looked onto the beer garden which was also lovely (I spent a sunny afternoon there whilst my hubby was off skydiving). Food was fantastic (highly recommend the scrambled egg with breakfast) we sat in the bar on Saturday evening and played cards it was just a great break. The friendly hosts really make this place, they couldn’t do enough for us, genuinely friendly people.

Only thing that was missing was a bath.

From the moment on arrival we were met with smiles and friendliness by (Laura I think that was the woman's name) and both Nicky and Richard made our stay so welcoming. Especially the warm welcome from Jasper the dog. This place is dog friendly but your never bothered by them unless you like too clap them, the locals we met were extremely friendly and happy to chat with you. The owners and staff could not do anything more for you, they went out their way to make your feel like one of the family. We had dinner there, and it was so fresh and tasty (loved the chicken pakora) and the sea bass and steak was cooked to perfection. Breakfast was also good, a selection of cereals, yogurts and fruit to start, then your cooked breakfast was ample and was more than enough to keep you going for the day. We came in as guests and left as friends, we'll be back again to stay and to come for lunch. Thank you all so much for a lovely stay and making us welcome - Mandy and Mike x

Nothing we enjoyed our stay.

What a lovely warm welcome. Very dog friendly. Lovely filling breakfast. Lovely evening meals. The service was exceptional. Super buzz in the bar. Jasper the Owner’s Black Labrador is a great wee welcoming addition. Nice beer garden for those long summer evenings. Parking at the rear for cars. The room was very spacious and clean. Very comfortable bed with really nice bedding. The en-suite was spotless and big for an en-suite. The owners are very knowledgeable about the locality and nearby places to visit. The village is handy for visiting Glasgow, Perth, Dundee, Stirling and Fife. Lots to see and do in the area. We’ll be staying again.

Nothing- it’s a fab location, fab wee place.

Breakfast was very good. All staff were very friendly ,helpful and professional. We loved the ambience in the bar. All local people were also friendly and liked to chat. Our evening meal was also excellent.

We are a little concerned that our ‘private bathroom’ was not within our room, it was just outside the bedroom door. Unfortunately we are a more mature couple who frequently require to visit the bathroom during the night. As it happened we didn’t meet anyone on the landing during the night.

We travelled up for a wedding, the staff were super accommodating letting us arrive much earlier than the advertised check in time in order to get changed and take our bags. Also the "morning after" there was nothing chasing us out. Breakfast was lovely also. Overall very welcoming and Jasper the dog is happy to chat to everyone.

I didn't get to use the facilities 🤣🤣

Dogs are very welcome and get lots of treats and attention. Ate in hotel every night and food was well presented and tasty also great selection of drinks available in the bar. Room was very comfortable as was the bed, and en suite very big. Excellent breakfast was served every morning . Could not recommend this hotel enough. We will certainly stay again . The locals that drank in the bar were also very friendly. Arrived as strangers left as friends.

Leaving . Looked to stay a 4th night but hotel fully booked.

Nicky and Richard were fantastic hosts who couldn’t do enough to make us and our dog welcome. We would definitely stay here again if we visit the area overnight again.

The decor in the accommodation areas, particularly the public parts, like the corridors, is clean but “dated”. Given that this is an old building and that’s part of its charm, this isn’t the end of the world, but it would benefit from sympathetic refurbishment. However, the ambience in the pub/restaurant, and the conviviality the owners more than comprnsate for an decorative shortcomings!

Both the owners and staff (Laura) were exceprionally helpful and attentive. There was a good and diverse menu for dinner, and as we were leaving very early the next day, a 'packed' breakfast was provided. The hotel has a large enclosed back garden, where drinks and meals may be served, and has a dedicated car park. Overall, we felt this was value for money and a pleasant experience. Full Sky tv package and large screen tv, and wifi throughout.

The hotel is under new ownership, and they are working their way through a refurbishment - so it will no doubt minor issues such as the number of power outlets in the bedrooms will be addressed.

The hotel was very comfy and the welcome from staff was legendary. We had drinks, dinner and breakfast and the food was delicious and plentiful... really great coffee. Our little dog Archie was treat like a VID and staff were cheery and helpful in every way. We really couldn't have chosen better for an overnight stay :)

Nothing to dislike.

Richard and Nikki bought the place a year ago and it is a very welcoming place . The staff could not do enough for us. the food was brilliant. Hikki took great care of my wife dietary requirements. The aesthetics was really nice for a 300 year old building- they havre brought out the best in it. The bar manager (sorry forgot her name) was great and made us very welcome The beautiful beer garden at the back was great. The room was a good size with lots of storage and the ensuite nice. it also had full SKY package - good to see Rory winning in Canada
