Kirklands Hotel

Bar area and restaurant/breakfast area are nice and the food in the restaurant was excellent (I had dinner there and breakfast in the morning). Staff were nice, pleasant and accommodating.

The outside of the hotel and the inside (ie walls that lead to all the bedrooms) could do with a lick of paint and the carpet on the stairway and landings up to all of the rooms definitely needs a really good clean or replacing. My bedroom itself was ok, a bit dark and old fashioned but bathroom was fine. I am only saying about the paint and carpet because i think it lets the rest of the hotel down.

This was our second visit to the hotel and we received the same friendly welcome as before. Following our journey in atrocious weather we arrived weary, and slightly early, thankfully our room was ready and we were checked in without fuss. Our room had been cleaned to a high standard and was well appointed with 2 easy chairs, good Wi-Fi, and Free Sat TV. After a rest we went to the restaurant where we had booked a table for dinner, our grandson joined us for a delicious meal served by friendly attentive staff, the restaurant was busy with locals and visitors which on a weeknight speaks volumes for the service provided. Prices for food and drinks are reasonable, a 10% service charge is added to the restaurant bill which can be declined, however as it amounted to the gratuity we would have left we were happy to pay. Breakfast is served in the restaurant, it is outstanding, all freshly prepared and served at the table. To summarise we really enjoyed our visit, staff are amazing, rooms are great, Highly recommended and we will be delighted to return

There is nothing we disliked about our visit

We received a nice welcome from a friendly staff member who showed us to our room on the first floor. The room itself was spotless and well appointed with a refreshment tray containing the usual accompaniments, tea, coffee, biscuits etc. Good Wi-Fi in all areas. Small car park to the front of the building with ample on street parking if the car park is full. We enjoyed dinner in the bar all courses were freshly prepared, delicious and reasonably priced. Breakfast was equally first class, great choice of cereals, fresh fruit, juice, full cooked breakfast etc, all served at the table. We really enjoyed our short visit and look forward to returning next month. Would highly recommend this lovely family run hotel.

We needed a place to stay close to Edinburgh at the end of our vacation. We are so glad we found this hotel in a fabulous location in Kinross. The town is great—we went on a run in the morning and found the local paths to be in great condition. The accommodations were nice. The building is very old, but in a charming way. The restaurant is top-notch. We got the package with breakfast included, and are so happy we did. Overall, this was a great way for us to experience a town that was previously unfamiliar to us.

We had problems with the heating overnight, but the staff and owner were very accommodating and did a lot to make us comfortable.

The family apartment is absoluterly exceptional for a hotel. You can put the kids to bed and chill in a very warm and cosy living room. The lovely town of Kinross is only 45 minutes drive from Edinburgh, and 45 minutes to Stirling, perfect stopover if you are planning to visit both places in turn, and also enjoy the lovely local views. We had an exceptionally tasty dinner on our first night and tasty and generous breakfast on both mornings. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.

We only stayed 2 nights, so there was no need for cleaning or change of towels/bedding, but I would have appreciated it if the cups were changed and tea replenished without having to ask for it. The lock on the bathroom didn't work terribly well, I couldn't really lock the door. There was a splash of dirt on the back of bathroom door and a couple of sticky handles in otherwise extremely clean apartments.

Everyone was so welcoming and very friendly. The room was very clean and well appointed. Breakfast was excellent, the best and most perfect poached eggs we've ever had. The restaurant obviously popular and busy the servers were very attentive. Quality of food was good. To sum it up, a professionally run family business where the owners and staff went out of their way to make our stay very enjoyable. Thank you

The staff were really friendly, it was evidently THE place to go for food - we were there on a Tues night and it was packed!! And for good reason - the food was really really good! Interesting/diverse options and a really good range for all tastes. Very unexpected. My room (room 2) was huge and the bathroom was excellent. It was really nicely decorated too. If I lived locally I would be a regular in the bar/restaurant!!

The room was REALLY hot. I turned the radiator down but it seemed to come back up. As such I struggled to sleep as was too hot - even with a window open. But, much better to have a hot room than a cold one!!!!!

Breakfast was fabulous. A la carte breakfast menu including muesli, fruit salad, porridge, full english, omelettes, kippers etc etc. We were given an apartment, I had booked a three bed room, so we ended up with two bedrooms and a very spacious flat.

Only disappointment was to be refused a glass of wine to bring up to the room from the bar as it was closing time. We were resident, no cashing up required as it could have been put on the room, no cleaning required as we would have taken it up. Didn't really understand why we were refused this.

The Kirkland's Hotel is outstanding in every way. Top of the list is the staff who went out of their way to be friendly, helpful, polite and very accommodating. The menu was varied and the food was of the highest quality. All the public rooms were spotlessly clean as was our bedroom. I am disabled and was given every assistance including helping my wife unload the car as I use crutches. The staff even helped find local park and ride timetables to Edinburgh so we didn't have to. We will definately be visiting this hotel again in the future

We can see no areas which we feel needs improving. The only downside is there isn't a lift but staff are always on hand to offer assistance in every way

The owners and their staff were really nice, a warm welcome when we arrived. The staff were all really good and they even managed to accommodate a large family meal at the last minute. The key to a good hotel is the willingness to help and accommodate and the Hotel would score 10/10 for this. The breakfast was great and the owner even made pancakes for my girls which went down well. The restaurant is great and the quality of the food is very high. We had a lovely suite which accommodated the children in one room, us in another room and a lounge. I would highly recommend this hotel
