Macdonald Morlich Hotel at Macdonald Aviemore Resort

This hotel offers good value for money, especially with children. The swimming pool is really a major bonus. It is clean and the water slide and the waving machine were all working fine when we were there. Our two children aged 5 and 7 loved it. The lifeguards are very professional. There is a play centre as well that our children enjoyed a lot. The staff is very nice, especially in the reception area. Breakfast is very good. There are several restaurants on site for which booking is recommended. The location is perfect.

In the corridors of the hotel, there are fire doors every 10 metres and it is a bit tiring to have to push them every time we walk around, especially when we have bags to carry. I have not seen this type of set-up in other hotels, which take the security of their clients very seriously as well. I am 1,82m tall and my bed was a bit small.

Resort nice and clean and the swimming pool is great, Rooms in the Aviemore nice and spacious and the beds comfy, good selection at breakfast and staff very attentive.

We were on DBB basis and felt that the menu choice at the aspects wasn’t that great, we have stayed before on a DBB and the menu choices were much better and more varied. Also the £25 allowance you are allowed is the same but the menu prices have increased ( by quite a bit if I’m honest) I mean £23 for one main course, so unless your happy to eat just a main meal you will have to pay extra for a starter or pudding, before it used to be a set menu that kept you within this. I get food prices have all gone up but you should increase the allowance so guests are not forking out more than they need to just to have dinner especially since we have already paid the DBB rate.

It was clean, everything was a short walk away. there is lots of children to do, the pool was great with the toys and floats etc available and the soft play and play park were great. only had breakfast in the hotel and it was nice. with small children we felt restaurants opening at 6 was too late by time would get fed so we went out each night.

It could do with some updating. Also, we had to request to move room as there was so much furniture in the room my 2 children (4 & 1) and ourselves kept falling over everything. In the small bedroom there was a double bed, 2 single beds a cot, 2 arm chairs, a round table, a desk and chair. Most staff were friendly but came across 3 rude individuals - 1 on reception and think he realised and tried to be nicer.

We had a lovely spacious room with just a touch of Scotland (tartan rug and thistle cushions), and breakfasts had a good variety of decent quality items and were tasty. The resort grounds are lovely - perfect for walking a dog. Dogs are welcome at breakfast and some restaurants, but need to be crated if you leave the room to use the pool, etc. Wave pool was fun - slide was good for younger kids.

If the weather had been better, we would have needed air conditioning in the room. The rooms are not recently decorated, though hallways were getting re-done. It's a shame the pool closes early (6pm) and that the waves and slides don't open til 10am.

Really good breakfast with a nice range of food and good coffee etc. Kids ate for free which was a bonus. The room was large with a comfortable bed. Very quiet in the hotel too so we didn't get disturbed.

When I booked I thought the swimming pool was in the hotel itself, maybe this needs to be made clearer on the booking - but it wasn't a major issue, We also struggled to find the right hotel on the complex so some clearer signage would be helpful, we ended up parking in the wrong car park and then having to put all the luggage back in the car to find the right place!

Breakfast and evening meal were very good. Family room was reasonably spacious and beds comfortable. All staff were pleasant and welcoming.

Very quiet from 9pm onwards. The children's disco lasted 5 minutes. The flyer given on check-in mentioned a bar in each of the 3 hotels. This was not the case. Aviemore did not have one. Morlich practically asked us to leave at 9.30pm. Lighting when walking between hotels in the dark is very poor. Expect hotel bar prices to be expensive but £15 for a beer and a gin with lemonade was excessive.

The staff at this resort were an absolute pleasure and went above and beyond expectations, They truly were fantastic and made sadly our last holiday away with family a great lasting memory. The resort was in a great location and an easy walk to the centre of Aviemore. We ate at the Italian restaurant onsite and was not disappointed-lovely meal and great waiting staff. We all had a lovely time and my husband and I can't wait to go back soon.

I can't think of a single thing that we disliked, utterly wonderful experience.

I have to admit to being a tricky customer, and we were apprehensive having read some of the reviews but we honestly cannot understand any of the negative reviews. the hotel was clean, comfortable and the rooms were well appointed. The location is fantastic, the facilities extensive. the food in the restaurant was excellent and the service attentive for the whole of our stay. It’s clear that, as with the whole hospitality industry, the hotel is facing staffing challenges however in spite of this the staff are doing everything and more to make your stay a great experience. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back more than once.

if we had to pick holes then the hotel can look to being a bit more eco friendly - condiment sachets and individual toiletries (although lovely) are not planet friendly.

We Loved all the facilities available on the resort. From swimming to soft play . Lovely park and additional activities if you wish to pay a bit extra . Easter activities were great. Kids loved the evening disco. Event staff were very good. Giovanni restaurant was fantastic!! Staff throughout the resort were all very helpful and friendly. Our room was a good size for a family of 4, and the beds were super comfortable.

Hotel is a little run down . Could do with a bit of attention. however, this did not affect our stay .

Excellent breakfast ( only missing Haggis ), good selection of Food: Full Scottish ( apart of Haggis - really missed ), Continental, Cereals, Yoghurts etc. Clean Room, car park next to the hotel, very close to the town. We enjoyed the swimming Pool, Steam Room, Gym, Walks around and trips to the mountains & Lochs nearby

It was a struggle to get a dinner in the whole town if not booked in advance
