The location was superb, right in the centre of things which, for my wife and I, who don't drive, was very handy indeed. Breakfast was very filling with a good choice on the menu. The bacon in particular was very nicely cooked, not undercooked or overcooked, just right in fact. Staff were all very friendly and approachable, and all very helpful. The corridor which led to all the rooms was very nicely decorated and warm and homely in appearance. All in all a very nice place to stay.

Nothing really, our room was very hot indeed for the first two days, but that was the weather's fault, not the room, and they did supply a fan which got a lot of use the first two days!

We liked it’s location close to station and beach. Breakfast was very generous and the morning all male staff team so helpful, friendly and efficient. It is a thriving working pub but we were not disturbed by the late evening trade during our midweek stay. The wall art by local artist is an amazing depiction of Welsh folklore😁

Parking in Barmouth is an issue but the arrangement with local garage makes staying at The Royal easy. Staff in the evenings were very busy with the bustling bar and taking orders for bar menu consequently service good but not amazing. Maybe clearer signs as to where to order food would make it easier for the tourist.

Really nice room, well thought out with everything you need for your stay. Exceptionally clean, lovely modern bathroom with pretty toiletries, staff all lovely. The fridge was a great touch, iron and ironing board, it is so refreshing that someone has put so much thought into the things that make a stay away from home stress free, they even provided bowls, blankets and dog treats which we really appreciated. Walking distance to everything. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we ever visit Barmouth again.

The wifi was a bit hit and miss, first day none of us could connect, second day it was fine. The TV had everything you needed, netflix etc but we couldn't get ITV player or BBC iPlayer to work, kept saying there was no wifi, not a big problem as we were lucky with the weather but if you were stuck in the room it may be annoying. We had breakfast in the room and the first morning it was brilliant, arrived on time, everything we ordered was there and cooked really well, second morning was a disaster, it took three attempts to deliver it and even then we had some things missing, but these things happen and the staff were very lovely and apologetic.

Very pleasantly surprised! Hotel is above a pub and was expecting average accommodation. However we stayed in room 8 on first floor -described as superior double- and it was beautiful. Very spacious room with a huge modern walk in shower. Furniture was antique style with a beautiful four poster bed. Although period style the furniture was top quality and didn’t feel ‘old’ The room had lots of extra touches and had everything we needed - hairdryer, iron, mini fridge quality toiletries and plenty of tea and coffee. The tv was quite big as well. Staff were friendly and welcoming and breakfast was lovely.

Lovely breakfast served by two very welcoming members of staff. Breakfast always ready for us as the system worked well of pre ordering the night before. Hotel in excellent position and parking fairly close. All sorted out by an efficient welcoming member of staff

No housekeeping in room which hopefully kept the price at an acceptable rate , but would just have liked some basic things done in the room as stayed for 4 nights. The rubbish bin was pretty full by the time we left and needed to request more coffee and milk, which was replenished immediately. Otherwise happy to make our own bed. Evening meal took a very long time to arrive after ordering which was a pity as food was good.

We loved the room - we stayed in Room No.1 which had a lovely window seat overlooking King George Street. It was nicely furnished and the shower was great. The mini fridge was also useful to chill drinks/ snacks in the hot weather. The hotel offered room service which we took advantage of for breakfast. We were happy to see a snooker table in the pub and many other pub games. The pub had plenty of room for drinking, eating, live music and also offered sports channels allowing us to watch the FA cup final! The staff were all very friendly and helpful from check in to check out, and checked we had what we needed each day such as more water etc. Breakfast was delicious and had plenty of choice.

We also had another couple of meals there, lovely food but would be nice to have a bit more choice on the menu. Being super picky it would have also been good to have a fold away table/chairs in the room as room service is offered, but can't really complain as we were happy with everything else.

We thought the breakfast was good, but what impressed us the most were the breakfast staff. Super friendly and couldn’t do enough. Husband has a back issue and reduced mobility. The staff couldn’t do enough to help. Even carried a chair up to our room. We were so grateful. Really great touch that there was a refrigerator in the room, plus the rooms antique decor was amazing!! Shower facilities were modern and bathroom decorated nicely.

Bed was a little uncomfy, bedding made us more sweaty than normal in warm weather. Next time we visit and there will definitely be a next time, we are going to check if there is a room with a king size bed!

£98 for B&B of this standard is excellent value, especially with everything that went along with it ……… Central to town. Convenient / close parking for reasonable cost. So clean. ***** Facilities in the rooms were excellent - hairdryer, toiletries, towels, plenty of tea & coffee, biscuits, bottled water AND a VERY comfy bed. ***** Restaurant in the pub, so didn’t have to go looking for food if we didn’t want to. Food was excellent- both evening meal and breakfast. We were warned there was going to be late night entertainment, which turned out to be brilliant. All staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. ***** Good history in the painted decor. Will DEFINITELY stay again. Thank you to The Royal

They were fully booked so couldn’t stay a 2nd night 😩😩

The location was brilliant, the hotel was well set out, having a private entrance was convenient. The room was lovely clean, bright and comfortable. Had everything you would need, plenty of tea and coffee, biscuits and bottles of water. There was a fridge in the room which was a bonus. The food at the royal was very good and breakfast was excellent. The staff could not do enough and where very friendly and very helpful with any requests... The bar sold a good selection of well kept beer's... I would definitely recommend the royal and would stay here again... Thanks to all the hard working staff..❤

The most comfortable beds EVER! Had so much trouble getting up in the morning because the beds were absolutely amazingly comfy. The room we had was small but had everything we needed. The bathroom was really nicely done out. The location was brilliant, right in the thick of Barmouth which didn’t have an awful lot going on given the time of year but then we knew that when we booked. The Royal was really clean and cosy and great value for money and we would definitely stay again. Breakfast was lovely and they have a great system of you ordering the night before for your breakfast items. We loved that.

Overall, the stay was great but on our last evening the wheel seemed to fall off the smooth running of the place. Lots of items on menu not available and bar staff saying there was hardly any staff in the kitchen so we would have to wait and also running out of food. We chose to eat elsewhere and enjoyed a fabulous meal at The Bank instead. Its just a shame because we would have liked to eat and drink in the place that we were staying at.
