Pleasant room. Good breakfast. Friendly staff particularly at breakfast.

It would have been useful to meet the manager as we wanted to stay an extra night if rooms were available. No-one at the bar could help and so we had to re-book on-line from inside the hotel as the manager would not be there before we would have had to leave the next morning. We were there for three nights in the end and did not see the manager once. There was a slight mix-up over breakfast which was included in our booking but somehow this had not been passed on to the staff. Soon sorted out by the server so not a real problem.

The staff were absolutely lovely, especially as I had dietary requirements that they were willing and kind about catering for. The room was comfortable and clean and the whole place had a nice vibe. It was in a great location in the centre of town with lots of nice shops nearby although I ended up eating in the White Lion every day because the food and staff were so nice. Overall, a really enjoyable experience and a nice place to stay.

There was some noise from the bar at one point but it was at a reasonable time and understandable as it was the rugby World Cup! Not an issue for me, but if you had to go to bed early or had young children might have been slightly disruptive.

The location in the centre of town is great as is the large car park. All of the staff we met were excellent, friendly and helpful. The food, both breakfast and evenings were very good with good sized portions and well presented. The bedroom was large and airy and the beds comfortable.

The en-suite bathroom could do with a refresh as it is a little tired but the walk in shower was very good. A mix up on arrival, our room had not been made up, was swiftly corrected by the staff and a new room allocated. A good recovery and a free pint lol.

Great breakfast, comfy bed, helpful staff, spacious car park, quiet rooms despite being above a pub, doors that didn't slam which was handy as we got back quite late and didn't want to disturb other guests. The family room was actually two rooms, a compact double and a small single, great for privacy for older kids or adults sharing. Warm welcome and the bar also serves food and hot drinks during the day.

Room might be a bit small if you were planning a long stay with lots of luggage but it was fine for our overnight stay. Struggling to think of anything else!

Great place to stay, it's an old building with plenty of old features and well kept, food was good and a good breakfast as well. The two barmaids were a breath of fresh air as they were great at their job, good with the customers, knew how to pour a pint and have a chat with everyone. The place seemed popular with the locals which is always a good sign and it's easy to see why, would definitely stay here again if I was in the area 😀

Nothing I didn't like

Great breakfast, plenty of choice, arrives promptly after order. Have as much or as little as you want. Really good well kept local real ale at the bar. Good- average for a busy pub, nothing extraordinary on the menu but it is readily available.

My room was actually the fire escape room with a door leading to the external fire escape stairs. I am not sure how my occupying the room fitted with the fire safety plan.

Staff were very friendly and the beds in the room were really comfy. People at breakfast go out their way to help and make your stay worthwhile.

Only thing I wasnt Keen on was the room just had a main light. Would have been good to have a dimmer or even a lamp. Other than that I have no complaints at all about the hotel.

In heart of Machynlleth, proper old pub like, good parking. Dated decor and room style but very clean and comfortable. Bar and restaurant very handy; plenty of room even for us four with little dog. so suitable for our short stay. All staff very friendly and helpful.

Adults liked it completely but our snobby youngsters expect everywhere to be super trendy! They were critical of everything being old! But with children and a dog and walking boots it made welcome and relaxed.

The Staff are AMAZING and we Love Staying There when we’re down Timing Their Triathlon WMT. The Food is Out Of This World and Very Big Portions The room was clean and the bathroom was with No Complaints And the beast is very comfy

To stay at this with you the price is Very High having the twin room to be so far up the stairs three floors which is difficult when you’ve got a bad back really that’s all the price and the amount of Stairs & Floors You Have To Climb

Great place. Great location. Fab staff nothing was to much trouble for them. Food was amazing . great breakfast.. Room was nice.great veiw of mountins. Kept very clean and tidy. Well aired. Hand jell at all doors in out of building. Toilets spotless. Told us of things going on ie markets & Places to see. We will be back again.

Apart from a hard door to open and a window ,but were ok we did ok with them . nothing els.
