The 1852 Hotel - Self Check-in

Great location. Good size room & facilities. Value for money

Self check in hit and miss! Didn’t work for us! Screen for check in when we reached hotel not working. Picked up phone and asked for help. Lady on phone asked me to speak to bar staff. Asked bar staff. They told me to ring phone! Told them I was told to speak to bar staff! Anyway bar staff helped with their bar iPad and checked us in. Unsatisfactory and got me in a bad mood before entering hotel!

Large, clean, great location. Easy walk into city centre. Close to cafes, pubs, and restaurants. Comfortable bed and good shower. No parking spaces on the street when we arrived so had to park in paid car park but moved to street later in the day. Having a fan in the room was very helpful as we were there on a hot day.

No lift but we were on first floor so not a huge issue for us - would have been good to know in advance. The ‘Handy park’ car park recommended by the hotel has multiple flags of a paramilitary group surrounding it which can be unsettling for people parking a non-local car. Free beer fridge was empty when we checked in.

Very cozy and clean hotel. It is located on a busy street but it does not prevent you from sleeping. Beer fridge at the entrance. There is a bar under the hotel with very friendly service. You can eat well there. As in the description, there is a street next to the hotel where you can park your car for free (you just have to be careful not to park in marked places). The hotel is very close to the Botanic park, the train station is in front of the hotel. A 15-20 minute walk from the hotel to Belfast city centre. We will 100% use this hotel next time we visit Belfast

The location was lovely and very central. The staff were very helpful and even though it was a self-check-in access to admin was very easy. The rooms are beautifully decorated and have all the necessary amenities.

I did not realise the premises did not have any elevators, thus is not accessible. A bookings.com message to ask about accessibility was completely missed and thus alternative ways to make the bathrooms accessible had to be found. None the less they managed to move me to a lower floor to be able to access the room better. I was also offered help taking the luggage up and down. The rooms are slightly underlit and at times visibility is not ideal.

Rooms minimalist in a trendy way, nice and clean. Staff friendly and on hand to help with check in. Good location and not too far to walk to other areas of the city.

The tech / self check in. No plug sockets close enough to the mirror for hair dryer / use of straighteners. No main light so a bit dark. One plastic beaker between 2. One pack of biscuits between 2. Not enough milk for drinks. Not the fault of hotel at all but area in general quite noisy but rooms hot due to warm weather so needed window open / couldn't escape the noise. Again not fault of the hotel but a lot of drug users in the area which was daunting when walking back in the evenings.

location is good. nearly Queens university and botanic station. you can find kinds of stores and restaurants around hotel，like cafe nero，Starbucks，pho，Cantonese restaurant….. Room is large

If you book low special price，The room will be directly above the bar. Although this is clearly stated on the official website, if you booked on a third platform, you will not know this. In addition, the hotel is self-check-in, which is very cumbersome for people who do not speak English well. In addition, after booking, when you check in, the self check-in page will ask you to fill in a credit card to potentially charge the corresponding deposit fee after check-out, if you do not have a credit card, you will need to debit the amount directly from the debit card to pay the deposit and it will be returned after check-out.

My room was spacious and clean with plentiful supplies of bathroom towels and toiletries. A great power shower. The bed was very comfortable and had good, plump pillows. I ate in their Town Square restaurant and found the food and drinks to be very good. Generous food portion sizes and pleasant, helpful and efficient serving staff.

I found the self-check in key activation far too fussy. The key can only be activated on arrival at the hotel and the process is rather unclear. I was one of five people all attempting to work it out! We each did but it took too long. (The online self- check in itself is simple) Had I have stayed for more than one night, I would have requested a room change. This is because the adjacent Chinese restaurant windows directly overlooked my room! Thus, I could clearly see their customers looking across at my large window. I simply drew the curtains across but then had to switch on the interior lights. As I say, this wasn't a huge problem to tolerate for a one night only stay as the room was very comfortable and I was out of the hotel more than inside the room.

Excellent spot to stay for exploring the city of Belfast, and for enjoying the craïc in the many restaurants and bars close by. Problems with checking in were soon sorted by the helpful staff. Great wine/cocktail bar underneath - made a very good daquiri even though it wasn’t on the menu.

The only negative is the lack of parking, but as the website says, there is free parking in the road opposite if you can get a space, which was relatively easy on a Sunday afternoon.

We stayed in a spacious and clean room on the third floor. There are a lot of bars, restaurants and shops nearby and trainstation Botanic is just around the corner. We recommend Maggie May's for breakfast and The teal monkey for dinner and cocktails. Staff is really friendly and gave us some recommendations. Would definitely stay here again.

The pub downstairs is cosy but very noisy. If you're looking to have a quiet meal this is not the place. We couldn't hear the noise in our room though. You can't have breakfast in the hotel, but there are a lot of options nearby.

The room and on-suite bathroom were very clean and the bed was comfortable. The location was near many food places and was easy to walk to from the train station (25 min walk). The rooms are above a pub so there is some noise but not enough to keep me away. The pub is associated with the hotel and it is very easy to pop down for a drink and you are also able to take drinks back to your room. The self-check in service was a little confusing at first, but once I had re-checked the information in my email I managed to check in with ease and enjoy my stay.
