The Golden Lion Inn0

The location was exactly as expected. Right in the middle of Bridgnorth, exactly where we wanted to be. We were able to walk around the town easily. There were lots of restaurants within walking distance. We were given a very warm welcome and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The Golden Lion was voted CAMRA pub of the year for 2023, and my husband said the beer was excellent. We ordered breakfast the night before and was served promptly at the time we requested, all delicious!

There was only one small problem. It was a warm night and our window was opened. We hadn't bargained on the dustbins being emptied under the window at 5 a.m.

The location of The Golden Lion is great....a superb pub in itself, with a great choice of Holden's beers and bar snacks, but it's also in the middle of the High Street in Bridgnorth Hightown, so loads of other pubs and restaurants are nearby. We were stopping partly to attend a wedding at Davenport House on the Saturday night, which was only a few miles away, so convenient to drive to from the Golden Lion. The staff at the pub are very friendly and helpful. They really are a lovely bunch of people, and I cannot fault them. The breakfast was very nice....freshly cooked and good quality produce...we had full English breakfast every day and it was consistently good.

We had a twin room with single beds, which is basically a double room with the bed unzipped apart and split as 2 singles. The beds are quite comfortable but are a bit narrow, and you sometimes feel like you might fall out of bed! It would be beneficial to invest in bigger beds in my opinion. Having said that, overall we were happy with our stay and would book again.

Lovely Inn right on the High Street. Surprisingly quiet for a front room, we had a warm welcome and free parking at the rear. The room ( Golden Suite ) is clean, very spacious, comfortable and has nice bathroom with shower. The breakfasts on both mornings were exceptional. One minute's walk to several pubs and restaurants it is fabulous value for money. Would stay again without hesitation.

Everything was great!

We were in the Golden Suite, a decent size room with a large bathroom with good shower. Free parking was provided at the rear of the Inn which was appreciated. Location is good, on the High Street in Hightown. This is a Holden's pub, and we enjoyed a few pints of Golden Glow which was excellent! There are plenty of other pubs in the area to choose from as well, and plenty of restaurants too. The family that run the Golden Lion were all really nice, helpful people, as were the rest of the staff here, so we would be happy to return.

We were in a twin room but the beds were very narrow. It would be more comfortable if the beds were bigger!

Breakfast was well cooked and presented. Location excellent as central and easy access to bars and restaurants. It was good to have a designated parking spot. The shower was excellent and the beds comfortable

We had to pre-order breakfast the night before which my husband didn't mind but I don't want to decide what I want to eat the next morning but this is just a minor niggle

Quirky and full of character. A beautiful old building that’s been refurbished. A large airy room (Platform 3). Nice touches like a coffee machine, biscuits and water in the room. Nicely cooked breakfast. Very friendly staff. Convenient. Right on high street. Each room has its own parking space at the back.

Our room was above the small smoking area at the back so some noise (just polite talking) as voices carry and some smell of smoke as we had our windows open. It’s a pub after all. Very quiet once closed. Didn’t bother us. Would absolutely love to stay again.

I rang Joanne, the manager, and asked for the Shropshire room as I was on a m/cycle (it saved carrying everything upstairs) and she sorted it . Ta Joanne. Breakfast chef Tash, was very helpful. The cleaning ladies, lovely. Bar staff, Keith and Ginney (met her lovely parents) made me feel at home. The location is ideal, on the high street with shops, pubs and cafes and eating places, within minutes. I went had a local bus trip, the stop 2 minutes away from the pub. Locals are lovely people. I've been four times, and feel at home there. What else to say? Fab place. Good value, wonderful staff, and a real pub!

it was quaint and filled with character. i love the railway theme. felt more storybookish than railway which we absolutely loved. felt really cool staying a a property with over 300 years of history. Joan (apologies for the misspell) was amazing. the breakfast is cooked to order and the hospitality was unmatched. we arrived at 6:00 am and we’re greeted with a cheery smile and instructions for breakfast. purpose of the trip was to attend a wedding not far from the inn and we experienced trouble with a taxi (wanted to charge 60 quid) but Joan and her husband went out of their way and offered us a ride to the wedding venue themselves. lovely people. amazing experience. definitely recommend. would love to stay again for a holiday in Bridgnorth!

The Golden Lion is a grand old pub in a perfect location - high town. The friendly, welcoming staff secured our touring bikes in a rear shed overnight. Our room was quitelarge, the bed comfy and the bathroom modern. The full English breakfast really set us up for our ride the next day. I particularly liked the pod coffee machine in our room ... and its big brother behind the bar at breakfast. We'll be back!!

What a great stay in a lovely hotel. The staff were excellent and very friendly. The breakfast was very good, plenty of food and great service. Bridgnorth is a great place to saty and look around. The rooms were all themed and each one was individual and well looked after.

Nothing really, everything was great. There was noise from next door that finished at 11:45 but that is out of the control of the Golden Lion
