Holiday Inn Express East Midlands Airport, an IHG Hotel

That I was able to take my dog when I couldn't book her in with her usual 'sitter'. That it was extremely peaceful and quiet considering the close proximity to the airport and motorway. The kindness of the lady when I apologised for the amount of hair my dog had shed all over the carpet that she had to hoover! (I offered to do it myself but she declined the offer) I found the bed really comfortable, and the curtains were great at blocking the light .

The shower itself was great, but the bathroom design was awkward. I found the door tracks on the shower cubicle were sharp if I caught my foot on them. And the bathroom door opened back against the corner of the cubicle causing pinched fingers a couple of times Not a lot of space for clothes hanging/ storage if staying more than one or two nights but I guess most guests are there short term while using the airport.

The bed was very comfortable. It was convenient for the airport

We informed reception by email, when we arrived and through the app that we were leaving very early in the morning and asked about breakfast. We were told that there would be breakfast to pick up in a bag. There was not and we didn't have time to create our own so we were able to grab a banana and a muffin and leave. At a cost of £190 we think this should have included a better selection of takeaway food options if we had to prepare our own.

The bed was very comfortable compared with other hotel beds I have experienced. The room was clean and we were on the whole comfortable. Staff were helpful and dealt with requests promptly and politely.

We found the room a little dark, even with all the lights on they did not give a good overall light to the desk and seating area. It would also have help if we could have adjusted the desk chair to a height that was better for our posture when sitting at the desk.

Room was clean, had a loveseat sized sofa. Very quiet considering how close to the airport it is. However, I could hear the people in the next room. Close proximity to Donington Park and, as I was there for the races, made it OK.

Cashless! Why do I have to use a card to buy a beer at the bar? I get hit with a foreign transaction fee every time! Also, the housekeeping staff has a habit of taking the interior metal door lock and flipping it out to prevent the door from fully closing while they are cleaning. What a noise! Bam, bam, bam! Every room they're cleaning on the floor! Also, no refrigerator? You put useless shelves under the TV instead of a refrigerator? Bad move.

The room was clean and tidy - the staff were very nice and very helpful. I forgot a couple of things and I was given complimentary items at reception. I also liked the soap / shampoo etc in the rooms. Overall it was great value for money.

There was only dairy milk in the rooms. We use dairy alternatives in our tea / coffee and I was tired and didn’t want to go to reception again so we just went without. But I’m sure if we had asked we could have gotten some.

Comfy and clean beds, clean room, clean bathroom and toilet. Microwave situated in reception area. Pleasant staff who were able to answer all questions posed. Peaceful location, easy access to Loughborough and Derby. If ever in the area again, I would definitely stay at the Holiday Inn Hotel. I would recommend this hotel.

Buffet breakfast was a bit boring. Beans had no flavour, could've added some onions and pepper. Would have liked different egg options, ie. Omelette, fried etc as opposed to just scrambled. Fruits were boring too, needed some other types of fruits not just apples, oranges and berries. Hotel was a bit pricey for one night, but I suppose this is due to the fact that it was half term and we all know that hotel and flight prices always rocket when children are on holiday from school.

Lovely hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Stayed here several times and always clean.

More breakfast choices would be good but appreciate it a small space so can only accommodate to so much. Food is also always running low at breakfast and no one seems to keep on top of making sure that there is enough out for people, we often need to find a member of staff to bring out more bread and bacon amongst other things

Lets be honest. Nobody plans to come here for a treat. They book here because they have a flight at an ungodly hour and can't face driving immediately before or after. All that is wanted is somewhere basic comfortable, efficiency. However- the staff made this the most wonderful kind experience- exceptional. It was booked for Monday 4th April for my very elderly parents who were having their first flight in forever but whose covid passports had gone awry over the weekend. We had the most horrific weekend trying to get it sorted. When they eventually arrived at the hotel (after 11pm, two immobile octogenarians who were losing their minds with stress), the young lad ( night porter, barely adult, a genuinely kind mixed race boy) was wonderful with them - truly helpful in hw he settled them. The next morning, my old dad lot his wallet at check out time, and the two girls on the desk helped go through his jackets and bags, laying out his paperwork till it was all back in their compartments. They realised the time pressure and brought their breakfast into their room for them, and helped them into their cab. Unbelievable care. Whoever you 3 are- your families and you should be very proud. Thank you

Location is fantastic, very clean and beds and the room overall very comfortable. Breakfast good even the early 4am one , a great choice

The only negative I have is I think the £10 charge to park your car when you have paid to be a guest is a little excessive, I fully understand the need to charge but when my parking package for a full week in one of the many car parks was only £40 , £10 is excessive for 9 hour stay

Was very nice Entrance,seating area was lovely and tidy and comfortable. The room was very tidy and clean. Loved the fact the toilet could be closed individually from the shower room too! Great idea!!

Only criticism was that the notice on bathroom wall said you had many toiletry items available if we had forgotten anything.i had forgotten my toothbrush, but when asking at reception the lady looked very confused And said "no? No toothbrush here?" So I was just left embarrassed !
