Crewe & Harpur, Derby by Marston's Inns

The accommodation & staff were very friendly & the location of the Marston Inn was excellent for what we were there for which was the World Superbike race weekend at Donnington. Unfortunately, as the breakfast at the weekend does not start until 8am & the evening dining finished at 9pm, we were not able to get to breakfast, but we did manage to get to eat in the evening on the Sunday & all the restaurant staff were very friendly even though they appeared to be having a very trying time with some of what we would call “difficult” diners and we would like to give a special “shout out” to the young lad called Aaron.

Bar staff could have been a little bit more friendly, as serving seemed to be a bit of a bind for them especially if you paid with cash.

Staff very friendly. Food very good. Chef was ill Monday morning so no cooked breakfast but was offered a free continental breakfast instead which was very good and much appreciated. Room was clean comfy bed bathroom needs upgrading but I can understand its a old building. Good selection of beers and well priced.

I think the whole inside just needs a bit of TLC. Signs of wear and tear. Just needs a good paint job and general overhaul and it would be so better. But please leave the old look not make it trendy. Gents Toilets defiantly need a good overhaul. Otherwise a very pleasant stay.

The staff were exceptional.. I can't fault their willing to help, care, or offer their assistance. Nothing was a trouble foe then

Sometimes and not all the tune, the food was warm or cool.. We don't like to complain and we didn't wish to spoil our break.. our room in the bathroom needed a bit of TlC. Dirty splash marks behind the bathroom door. You can see this when sitting on the toilet and also the paint and plaster is falling off the wall. Bit apart from that all good 👍 ps I believe the crewe & harpur maybe be having refurb soon( grapevine is wonderful)

The room was great value for money. Very clean and comfortable. Good bedding. Heating was on all night. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. The gent running breakfast was very welcoming and efficient. The bar staff were vary nice plus one of them came over to our room quickly to help us with the TV.

Room was a little bit tired and I struggled to get the kettle in the sink to fill it, but then used a mug to do it! Unusually I forgot my own instant coffees and there wasn't much milk or sugar for 2 of us. (I'm sure they would have given us extra if I'd gone over for it) tv was a bit iffy.

I requested a cot for my baby and a ground floor room and they very quickly got back to me and confirmed my request had been accepted. The room was absolutely lovely, it was quite cold and it took quite a while to heat the room with the heaters but other than that it was brilliant. Very spacious room which my kids loved as they had room to play without the worry of bumping into anything. Overall very happy with our stay and would definitely book again!

Accommodation - Clean, Comfortable and at great rates... Drinks - Great selection, My brother really enjoyed the bitter, Nice whiskey and brandy to finish the night Bar Team / Restaurant Team - Outstanding - Its clearly a very popular place, busy on a Wednesday evening so clearly getting it very right... The team although very busy could not do enough for you, pleasant, friendly, helpful - really makes a difference to the night Food - Great selection of very well cooked pub food, service was great, food was hot and tasty with good portions. Breakfast - Excellent quality, well cooked and generous portions - a nice relaxed unhurried affair in a really great setting. Well done Crewe & Harpur - Had a fantastic time

Friendly staff and as this was not our first visit we were remembered. Location and layout of attached pub great for getting together with friends and having a catch up, no-one disturbed us.

This visit we had a twin room which was also set up for wheelchair use. A very large bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom was ok but the bathroom needed some TLC. It was very cold with the only heating being a small towel rail in a very large room and the wash basin was not even big enough to wash your hands. Shower was good.

Nice cosy hotel with great food and very freindly staff. Great location by the river with the option to sit outside. Breakfast was very good and cooked to order, so it was very fresh. Evening meal/Lunch menu had many options and the food was delicious.

The carpet in our room was quite dirty and this gave the first impression of it being a dirty hotel. However, this was not the case, the bedding and the en suite bathroom were very clean.

Where do I start, we arrived for our 3 night stay greeted by Tracey and her staff a lovley welcome. Shown to Room 1 which was spacious family room very comfortable. We then went to the bar and had a drink in their lovely garden. That night we had a lovely meal and retired and had a great night's sleep. We were warm overnight so when we went for our breakfast we mentioned about a fan and when we came back from our day out it was in our room we felt very looked after. Nothing was too much trouble and we enjoyed every bit of our stay and we look forward to coming back soon.

We had the last room available which is part fitted as a disabled room. The wash basin is not fit for purpose as it is a very small sink for use only for hand washing. The disappointment was the absence of a window blind above the entrance door which meant the room was bright daylight from 4.30am as we are near mid summer .It was almost impossible to get back to sleep. Ironically if the room was let to someone with mobility issues then the bath would have been rendered useless as it is just a standard one not a walk in shower. Also the beds were soft and too low. Kyle on arrival and Anne on departure were both extremely helpful and caring. .
