Clean Room, Comfortable Bed, Great Back Light behind Head Board, and the double glazing was great, particularly as they had kept the old sash windows on the outside which gave the front of the building its period look. There was even a round stain in the middle of the carpet but we decided that it came from an Agatha Christie novel where the victim is murdered by the now missing chandelier which was loosend enough to drop on him whilst he was doing his daily Yoga, thus pearcing his heart and causing him death by glass.... Therefore the Light caused his Darkness. Brian

The toilet roll holder was broken but the guy did not seem to know what was wrong, he just gave us extra toilet rolls. We had to stop him though as it was getting harder to get into the room with the Great Wall Of Paper.

Room clean comfortable Stairs dirty and very very steep to get to second floor I requested a ground floor for medical reasons offered a first floor confirmed by email given top floor as all they had left . If you park your car be prepared to walk round the block with cases as spiral staircase impossible if you have luggage from the car park, also spiral style stairs to top floor very difficult very steep even without luggage

Room was clean and comfortable well aired compact. I slept very well. Family run Indian restaurant offering 10% discount when staying. Good value and nice food and service.

No hot water, despite the water switch turned on the hot water did not work despite turning the tap both ways. Breakfast was very poor no fresh milk, no proper coffee no brown bread and no bacon (this could be on religious grounds) I accept that but the egg was poorly fried, a dried harsh brown (warm) cheap baked beans and tined mushrooms - revolting. Overall quality very poor and not worth paying the extra.

The room was very clean with fresh towels and refreshments supplied daily. I love their hot water showers, very hot just like I like it. WiFi P was on the room key, very accessible. Lovely Indian restaurant downstairs and even with that the hotel room was very quiet all through my stay. As someone who uses hotels frequently, this is much more value for the money paid, I definitely recommend.

The communal areas were not as clean as could be.

Lovely check-in experience, welcoming and provided with a wealth of information regarding dinner options and breakfast (there is an adjoining Indian restaurant which is excellent, comfortable and reasonably priced) superbly comfy bed, plush carpets throughout and good lighting. Fantastic breakfast variety and good value at only £7.99. Very helpful staff and on-site parking. For the money, very hard to beat.

I would have liked a desk and chair in my room which would have made it easier to work, but that's only a minor gripe, as there was certainly sufficient space in this large comfortable room.

So pleasantly surprised rooms were emaculate although I think my ceiling had a previous leak due to stains on it , no lift here though an stairs fairly steep advice be dropped off at front of entrance as parking behind has a metal winding staircase to reception although leads up to a lovely veranda with outside seating rooms though are really nice an the price is brilliant staff are very kind too.

The hotel is lovely. Friendly helpful staff. Hotel was clean and bright just needed a bit of tlc in a few places. Air conditioning would be an added bonus. Room was very hot and traffic noise was bad if windows left open but that can’t be helped. Would definitely go again but would ask for a rear facing room. Thank you to the staff.

I couldn’t have a shower as my mobility isn’t brilliant and the tiles were very slippery when wet. Loo roll and loo seat needed a look at and a little maintenance done.

I always enjoy my stay at the hotel, it’s comfortable, the rooms are clean, and the staff was very hospitable. Muhammad especially is very friendly and goes over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend the Charles Hotel to anyone visiting Chatham, Kent. Please give your staff awards, they deserve it especially Muhammad!

This is the perfect hotel for a weekend getaway in Chatham, Kent. Very close to the Train station and the High Street. The staff are always exceptionally friendly, especially when you need them the most, Muhammad was incredibly helpful and that makes me want to come back all the time. I highly recommend this to everyone 👍🏻

We loved this hotel, location was perfect for what we needed, beds were comfortable, we had a triple room which was so spacious and the staff were lovely and accommodating, breakfast was 10/10.

It was so hot and stuffy in the rooms but they did provide fans which definitely helped! Maybe air con would be a better idea 🙂
