Holiday Inn Rochester-Chatham, an IHG Hotel

Great location, great value. There was 1 member of staff that was just on a whole other level, just wish I wrote her name down, never seemed to go home. Bent over backwards to help us and was extremely friendly and bubbly. To be honest put the manager to shame!

The only disappointing thing was the times of the spa/swimming facilities closing on a Friday was different to website. And also the jacuzzi has been broken for months yet nothing stated that on the website.

Ample parking good size rooms good quality food with plenty of choice happy professional team that works together Cleanliness Solid fireproof doors and ample extinguishers

Safety hazards ( which i see are being corrected) trip to Sun Garden (outside west side of restaurant) is hazardous due to uneven paving and dark when restaurant is closed No provisions for guest who like to smoke ie no lighting in Sun Garden No ashtrays No cover in poor weather No Electric Car Chargers ( although i've noticed that their installation has started) No cocoa powder duster pot to top off my cappuccino

The room was spacious and very clean. Cookies were lovely, and mini fridge was stocked with water, coke, crisps and a kitkat and was free. I had to ask reception 1st though. The people on reception were really friendly and very helpful. Bonus was free parking just has to put registration on the system( make sure you use the on at reception if your an overnight guest not the on at the gym/pool). The breakfast was very tasty. Had kettle and a coffee machine in the room ( not every room has the coffee machine) we were lucky coz they upgraded us for free ( bonus). Tv in rooms are a good size and the air conditioning in the rooms was a god send. Iron and ironing board were also in the wardrobe. Dressing gowns were also supplied (but again not in all the rooms). This is the first time I have stayed in a holiday inn, and will definitely stay in one again.

Would have preferred just a shower as I struggle to climb into the bath.

We liked the location and hotel, which has two floors which was great for running between rooms. Staff were friendly and great at their jobs and took pride in their work from room cleaning to catering staff and reception too, which was lovely to see and experience. The rooms were clean apart from hotel using old room phones that don’t work so we needed to walk to each room on two separate floors (just bad luck I guess). Swimming pool was nice too. Communication by staff to customers was very clear and considerate, for example restaurant chefs were low on staff on Bank Holiday weekend however this was kindly explained to each customer first before ordering food, which made a big difference in waiting or swimming staff on reception explaining jacuzzi is not working properly before we entered which was very helpful. This hotel (staff) were and are the best on communicating with customers and we have stayed in over 300 hotels. The Staff make this hotel better and a more enjoyable experience.

Old room phones that didn’t work. Swimming jacuzzi didn’t work due to pump failure but staff were helpful and understanding/kind and explained all beforehand, everything else was great and was a wonderful experience.

Reception staff very welcoming. Bed request fulfilled - even had two options! The room - reached afer a walk via a corridorr round three sides of a square - was comfortable and appeared cared for. In particular, the bathroom sparkled. I opted for the cooked breakfast (extra charge but slightly cheaper when booked on checking in). The buffet was well stocked and the waiting staff were smiley and attentive.

My perennial gripe - lighting. If you're not sitting beside the bed or desk lamp the light level is low - or should that be atmospheric? That apart, there was nothing that aroused my dislike.

Room on ground floor good No 43 but long walk.Cleaning staff polite.Breakfast plenty on offer.All in all agood stay for money paid.Would use again.

Bar staff pulled a face when i asked to view Menu on 1St evening,subsequently we ate out.There was a function on Saturday and at least it finished on time just before 12.We thought that we could then sleep but unfortunately the rooms directly above us 143/145 decided to start moving their room furniture about for next 45 minutes.We did report this to Reception as we left.

I usually prefer something more characterful and independent than 'branded' hotels such as Holiday Inn or Best Western but I had to be in the Rochester/Gillingham area and this Holiday Inn was conveniently located. In the dull March twilight the outside of the building is a little 'brutalist' but inside it is freshly decorated and the staff are efficient and welcoming. The reception, lounge area and restaurant have been refurbished and are modern and comfortable while even the inevitable long corridors are pleasant to walk along. My room was the expected size and plainly furnished but it was comfortable and (at the rear of the hotel) quiet. I was amused by the 'legacy' trouser press in a cupboard but am of the generation that used them all the time. The bed was very comfortable with good linen. The bathroom clean and fresh with good towels and a walk-in shower. I had dinner at the hotel and enjoyed it. The waitress service was excellent. In the morning there was more than enough choice at Breakfast to satisfy me. And the coffee, from a bean to cup machine, was good.

I've stayed in a lot of hotels and frankly, if they can maintain this level of accommodation and restaurant service at the medium price point I shall be using Holiday Inn again. The Rochester hotel's location is a commercial area but it's handy for the motorways and the other Medway towns.

Lovely room, exceptionally clean. Thank you to cleaners. Generally good breakfast as a gluten free person.

Some bits of room dated e.g. windows rotting and bottom of bathroom door all broken. As a gluten free person I loved that section at breakfast although the toaster poss needs labelling better as ‘only for gluten free’. It was a bit tricky with the cooked items at breakfast as they weren’t labelled. Member of staff said the hash browns were gluten free, then the chef ran out after I’d put them on my plate to say that they had wheat in. Prob need individual labels for all items with clear labelling for main allergens. But I did have a good breakfast,thank you.

Excellent breakfast, which has full English, cereal, proper coffee, bread, cakes, self-help yoghurt, and milk options including soya and almond. The heated pool is our favorite. For half board, you can order from the menu despite the prices listed there at end of the day, all would be paid by your half board. The food is excellent. The reception: they are superb! They are willing to help out whenever. The room given to us had a bit of noise when we first entered the room, and I just spoke to the lady at the reception to change a room. She then explained the room layout of the whole building and tried to find a quieter room. Although no success as it's almost fully booked and the rooms we could choose from were too small for 3 of us. She then said to see how it goes, and if bad, just come back to us. After a dip in the pool, we went back to the room and it was super quiet. Obviously, it's just the daytime cars running that caused the noise. We had a very good night's rest. She also tried best to arrange a taxi for us and our friends. Although not successful as we had two big bikes, she's very patient and called several taxi companies for us. We like holiday inn more now.

The bed is on the softer side, but not an major issue

The staff was very friendly and helpful, even the staff from the gym as I ve asked them if I can use their scale couple of times to weight myself, as I was in the area for a competition. I ve booked for 2 nights. I haven't stayed the second night and I ve checked out late in the evening as my plans changed. Even if I didn t asked them l, as I knew exactly how was the policy in most of the hotels, they've offered me a refund. So nice of them. The food was very good and tasty. Definitely I would come back. Thanks again and sorry for my late review 11 stars out of 10 :)
