Macdonald New Blossoms Hotel

The staff at the hotel were exceptional pleasant and helpful. The room and bathroom was very clean well presented. The view from the hotel was quite alright, you could see the streets of the town from one window and the other not so much, but that wasn't too much of a bother. We had a very restful night, nice bedding and the mattress was soft. The breakfast was very very nice with a beautiful display of fresh fruits, hot and cold breakfast and (in my opinion) a good variety of condiments, teas, coffees, cereals and fruit salads. Definitely one of the best hotels I have been to in a while. Right in the heart of the town centre, very accessible and easy to find.

Very minor, the telephone was disconnected so I was unable to make calls.

Reception staff helpful and courteous. Final morning arranged a taxi in time for our train. Really friendly girl on breakfast duties nothing too much trouble. Quaint rabbit warren to room much nicer than bland boxes of modern hotels.

Some parts of the hotel a bit tired although quaint in keeping with it's age. Carpets could do with replacing and perhaps an air freshener in hallways would help with the not so pleasant smells in places. (these could have come from the rooms I was passing and not the hallway itself thou)

Convenient location, comfortable bed and warm cosy room. Welcomed with a big smile from the receptionist (lady with tattoos on her hands) a quick check in but a very friendly and professional one. Loved the free water on each floor, still or sparking from a tap and jug and glasses provided in room. Good value for money. Breakfast was basic but perfectly fine, coffee could probably do with an upgrade though.

A little bit of black grouting in the bathroom as mentioned in some previous reviews but not too bad and certainly wouldn't put be off staying there again. Lovely toiletries and appreciated the warm towel rail.

The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. As a solo traveller I felt very safe and welcome by the staff here who were willing to offer any help needed. The hotel itself is beautiful, very cosy and warm (perhaps a little too warm during the heatwave but fans were provided!). The bed was very comfortable, I had everything I needed in the room which was clean and well presented. The location was also ideal, just over 10 minutes walk from the train station and located centrally in town - perfect for a few nights stay to explore Chester. All in all a brilliant stay, would most definitely choose New Blossoms again!

The only reason I didn’t leave 10/10 for comfort was because the corridors were quite busy at night, quite late as well as early morning. I imagined workers would leave early or come in late but there are many fire doors in the hotel corridors meaning a fair amount of slamming when doors were being shut and I could hear footsteps a lot during the night. This is not entirely the fault of the hotel but a few signs around to make guests aware to keep noise levels after 11pm down would be appreciated.

As always, super comfortable beds, lovely staff and absolutely perfect location. Georgia on the desk was super helpful and always friendly. Massive rooms, comfy beds and if you get a 3rd floor room you might get a picturesque view off the city roofs. So much character.

We love the hotel and it is meaningful to me and my girlfriend. However, we wish the rooms would receive a little more TLC. We were very kindly allowed to change our room, for one with a bath tub. However, we found that room really needed some renovation work done, which if it did do would maintain the charm that we love so much. Not a deal breaker as it was still all very clean etc. But, just a shame because the older aesthetic of the hotel has charm and it would be sad to see it not looked after.

It's in an excellent location in Chester for sightseeing and for walking around restaurants, bars, shops. It's an older style of hotel with lots of character. The room was a very good size, comfortable bed, good shower, good supply of teabags. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We had a great time in New Blossoms!

Air conditioning - it was very hot when we visited and there was only a conventional fan. A coffee maker? Overall, very little not to like!

the room was excellent and the bed was huge! the staff were very friendly when i arrived, letting me use the disabled toilet to change in as my room was not ready to check in, the location was great very central to everything in chester, plenty of pubs, restaurants, shops, tourist attractions etc.. the train station was not too far either. i would stay here again for sure as its a very nice hotel with great staff, but i would request a higher floor next time due to the nightclub noise.

i arrived a little early but couldn't check in until 3pm which was a little setback as i had a long journey on the train and would have loved to have taken a quick shower before meeting my friend for lunch. there was a nightclub under the hotel which was very loud if you were staying on the first floor, until really late after 3am , normally this would not bother me but i had an early start the next day and missed my train as i overslept due this which in turn caused me to be delayed on the train when signal failures disrupted the entire line which led to me missing my flight which cost me a fortune as i missed the start of my new job contract in norway, i ended up staying a few extra days in the UK so not a bad thing.

Stayed in Chester for a concert. Location was amazing, right in the city center. Our room was one of the best we've ever stayed in. Compared with others we've visited in Chester it was amazing value. Will definitely book here again on our next visit

Hotel had an amazing feel to it, loved that as many of its original features had been kept. Staff were really friendly and took time to make you feel welcome. I loved the city center location with so many bars and restaurants close by but location was quiet

The location is good for the city and shopping

The room had 3 broken pieces of glass in the leaded window which was laminate over ,the bath had rust where the enamel had been damaged.,no toilet brush no heating in the room except a towel rail and no hot water to have a shower or bath .The room door was not secure as you had to slam it to make sure it was closed properly upon leaving your room. The remote control for the TV was damaged and the air conditioning didn't work so you were unable to heat the room that way the only heating was a large oil filled radiator in the corridor

The location was perfect, right in the centre of Chester and within easy walking distance of the shops, restaurants and attractions. The twin room was large enough for two people without feeling cramped and the beds were very comfortable. Although the room was very hot, we had the use of 3 fans to keep cool. There was no noise from traffic. The bathroom was clean and with a shower over the bath - the only downside were the two columns in the bathroom which made getting into the bath a bit challenging. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of hot and cold food and juices.

The lift is very small and could be an issue if guests have very large suitcases or a lot of luggage.
