Moxy Chester

cool quirky hotel, fab staff and brilliant location, only a short, pleasant walk down the canal side into the town centre, with a few bars and restaurants along the way

bed was billed as a large bed but was just a normal double, only one pillow each on the bed and wasn’t the comfiest mattress but not that bad that it would put us off stopping again. Parking is limited and payable, we were lucky to grab a parking spot but not sure where you would park if the car park was full.

Great staff, excellent service, and always with a smile..,room was clean and modern with plenty of space, if we needed any help the staff were keen to please and went the extra step to make us happy, thanks and we will come and stay again for sure

Parking can become a problem due to lack of spaces,and it's prity much no chance if you arrive in the late afternoon or evening, there are 3 disabled parking spots but this is really a joke as everyone parks there with out correct permits, sometimes there our 4 cars squashed in the 3 spots... was annoyed as I am an injured British army vet....and could not use them

Clean and modern, room was in excellent condition, which I would expect as the hotel isn't that old. Only a 5-10 minute walk into the city, Waitrose next door. very Dog friendly, we booked the family room and thought the space was great.

Better sound proofing needed. the private gym situated underneath the hotel in an adjoining unit, gave us a very early wake up call the two nights we stayed. With music heard and felt during the spin class from 6:30am onwards, it wasn't a gentle thud of music in the distance either, I could hear the songs and every word shouted by the instructor from our first floor room. Getting up early for the dog, I also noticed the music in the communal area was playing very loud in the early AM, and as our room was just off the communal area once i heard, it was still noticeable once back in the room. Lucky we got a parking spot, as it is very limited. Overall it was OK, suited our needs and was dog friendly, but based on the noise probably wouldn't stay again.

Great location. Small rooms but very well appointed. Lovely staff, whether from reception or cleaning staff. Did not get the breakfast (so many great options in town) but was told from friends "nothing to write home about". Location wise, 5-10 mins from train station, and 10-ish from town centre. Nice walk along the canal with lots of eating places very close (thai, indian, pub, ...)

Hardly any space for suitcases. we only had 2 hand luggage, but if you have big luggage it becomes very difficult to walk around, but there is some hanging space.

Perfectly located for staying in Chester and the surrounding areas - easy to find. Well-presented and very clean throughout, with stylish and modern decor. The room was well-appointed, clean and comfortable. The staff were superb, being friendly, helpful and chatty. Bar and food prices were reasonable, with quick service from the kitchen.

The parking is a nightmare. There are nowhere near enough car parking spaces for a hotel of this size. We have a blue badge, however all the disabled spaces were taken, as well as all the others, leaving us with no option to park close to the entrance. The staff were apologetic, however the best alternative they could offer was the train station car park (charges applicable) which was nearly a mile away - simply not acceptable. This was the only downside, however it is a major one and let down the whole experience unfortunately.

Great little hotel in a lovely location. On the canal and only around an 8 minute walk into Chester. Lovely bars along the canal. Staff were friendly and helpful. Small rooms but nice and clean and had everything you need apart from only 1 pillow each. Comfy bed though. Couldn’t park on the hotel car park but just a 5 minute walk to the train station car park for £8.50 for 24 hrs. Didn’t have breakfast so walked into Chester to a great place called marmalade. Will definately be returning . Also great night out in Chester with loads of nice bars and restaurants

Clean hotel in a really good location right alongside the canal, 10 minute walk from the train station. Waitrose right next door. The bed was really comfy and the room was spacious. The staff were also very friendly and offered a complementary drink upon arrival.

My only complaint is the shower. The bathroom is small but not an issue for me personally, however the shower was weak and small. The water cut off for me at one point but did come on again quickly. I still think a better shower would improve the rooms significantly.

Love the 3pm check-in and 12pm check-out times! Love that the hotel bar and games/entertainment area is open until 1am (Fri night). Any drinks after midnight are charged to room, which was fine. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Rooms are always clean and quiet. Love how close Moxy is to the train station, and it's only a short 10 min walk to the park/river, which then takes you into the centre.

We never not like or have a problem with anything at Moxy, but if we were to criticise anything, the breakfast was fine, plenty to choose from but, I'd avoid going at a busy time as people do scramble around and there isn't much room for your tray when you're choosing food/drink...kinda have to do things one handed whilst balancing a tray full of food 😅 It would be nice to have extra pillows in the rooms. We only had one each; also, there was no way of contacting reception from the room.

The beds were incredibly comfortable allowed for a great rest. The breakfast was superb, hard to find many places with a good hot food breakfast. The staff where incredibly helpful, the TV remote batteries ran out and the receptionist was more than happy to help and very apologetic as well. 10/10 will be back in the future!

The only thing that I didn't enjoy was the wait for the elevator, then I found out that the second elevator was out of service so it did not annoy me all too badly.

Modern feel, staff were friendly and attentive. We were able to check in early and the location was close to all the sights. The room was clean and everything worked well. We were able to connect our phones to the TV so were able to watch what we wanted. They stored our bags so we didnt have to carry them with us after checking out. There is a chill out space between the reception and rooms. It had a seating area, quiet spaces and pool table. The hotel is next to a Waitrose.

The lift wouldn't go to the second floor. At one point during the evening the fire alarm went off for a minute or two.
