Leonardo Hotel Chester

The breakfast was excellent, as good as any I have had anywhere. The bed was very comfortable and the room size was adequate. The location is very good, it is close to an access gate on the city wall, close to the shopping mall car park that cost us only £20 for a 48 hour stay, the hotel is about half way between the river and the main shopping street and there are bars and restaurants nearby. The bar area is a nice place to sit in. The reception staff were excellent, especially Lucia who would brighten up anybody's stay with her lovely personality.

There isn't a dedicated wardrobe in the room and the hanging space is very limited, as we were there for only two nights it wasn't really a problem but for a longer stay it could be inconvenient. It was quite hot while we were there and the air conditioning was very awkward to work, we had to ring reception to ask how to operate it and it turned out that the staff had to turn it on, even then we couldn't get it set how we wanted it.

I had forgotten I'd booked B&B and the content of the buffet was 1st class .. my stay was all but perfect and I'd especially commend the 2 young women who were manning reception on my arrival on Sunday 30th April .. the warmth of their welcome very much got me off on the right foot. I know Chester well so expected location to be perfect fot the City Centre .. it was!

Breakfast on Tuesday 2nd May was 7.00 to 10.00 a.m. .. I went about 9.00 a.m. and found all of the excellent constituents to be all but cold .. cold sausage and bacon is no issue .. but cold fried eggs are no "yolk"!

Room had black out curtains and mini fridge (in basic room and not listed on booking.com website). The room was facing the road and nice bars and restaurants, but had a second inside window that kept it silent! Good shower heat and pressure!

Room cleaners did good cleaning prior to arrival, but subsequent cleans were just making the bed and taking clean the room sign off the door. Didn't replace toilet roll (second one in holder) until we ran out and asked at the front desk. Also, it didn't empty the bin. Mini fridge had no complimentary drinks, and room service menu doesn't include coffee. Also no option to check out later than advertised 11am. Travelodge website gives you this extra add on!

Stayed at the Leonardo Hotel on a Thursday night. Myself and 3 family members - we had a double queen room which was more than big enough for us all. Hotel room was lovely, clean and spacious. Fresh towels in the bathroom for each of us and cookies in the room on arrival. The property was within walking distance of all shops, coffee shops and restaurants. We parked on the multi-story opposite the hotel and the hotel did offer a reduced parking rate of £10 for 24 hours which was great! Popped into the bar across the road for a few drinks which was nice and was within seconds of the hotel. Upgraded to breakfast the next morning and they had everything we wanted on offer, help yourself buffet. Check in and check out was both smooth, hotel in a good location and hotel staff were pleasant throughout. Would definitely stay again as it’s in an ideal location and the beds were extremely comfy for a good nights sleep!

We had a couple of issues with the first room we had been given but staff at the front desk were happy to change our rooms as soon as we mentioned something was wrong! Great service, thank you.

Close to shop ect

In the bathroom you only had one bath sheet between both of you and the towel rail was loose I think because people were holding on to it to get out of the deep bath/shower there should be a handle, not enough hanging space or drawers for two people,we decided we would have our Dinner at the Restaurant the day we got there we asked for steak (sorry we don’t have any) we’ve had a party of about 12 ok,we asked should we order for tomorrow “No”you’ll be be ok sadly they only had one left my husband said it was lovely but that’s not the point

The young lady on reception was very welcoming and kind to me after my awful experience with my original booking for the night at an apartment just down the road. This was much appreciated. The hotel is modern and the room was clean and comfortable. An additional bonus that I liked was that you can cast media from your phone to the TV. So, could watch a film on Netflix rather than just watch whatever was on terrestrial TV.

The air conditioning was a little noisy. It worked well and kept the room nice and cool though. The hotel is situated on a busy road and so there was some traffic noise too. Not too bad though.

There was a very good selection of continental/hot foods to choose for your breakfast meal! Also, the cooked breakfast was well cooked, hot and very tasty. 😜

I was disappointed, I had to wait for another new batch of bacon to be cooked, before I could eat with my family! However, the bacon was cooked to perfection and was of exceptional taste and quality! 🌟 On another note, we found the late booking time (3pm) far too late in the day, to be able to fully enjoy the hotel room and it’s facilities! NB: This only gave us less than 24 hours in the room/hotel!. 😞 My only advice would be, to have book-in times and departure times changed to 2pm & 12 o’clock...

Able to check in early which was a major plus I was not expecting .Was just going in to leave my case .Lovely friendly reception staff on arrival to the hotel .Lovely decor on entry to the hotel and super quick check in .The room was lovely and rastefully decorated and the bed was super comfy as well .Good bathroom facilities as well as tea/coffee making facilities. Ideally located for city centre Chestee good for getting to the restaurants /bars and site seeing .Also nice breakfast in the morning as well as a nice bar /restaurant downstairs in the hotel

Nothing that I personally didn't like

The hotel is centrally located, so it is near the local attractions bars, restaurants, and shopping. There is an NCP car park across the road. The rooms were very comfortable, and all the expected amenities were provided (tea making, big screen smart TV, hairdryer, and toiletries). There is a nice bar restaurant area which we used for breakfast. The staff made us feel welcomed, and overall, I would certainly stay here again if I stopped in Chester.

The following day, I had to query additional room charges that were added after we checked out. We were apparently under charged, but it didn't feel quite right.

The location of hotel was fab. Reception staff and waiters and waitresses were excellent.

The chef was very arrogant. There was a few people asked for sauce at breakfast and we never received any. I asked the chef if my husband could also get scrambled egg, I thought he never heard so I said excuse me. His reply was unbelievable. The gentleman standing next to me could not believe the reply. The 2 boys on got nothing but grief from the chef. They could not do enough for people. The young girl that was on the following morning was lovely.
