Holiday Inn Chester South, an IHG Hotel

Breakfast was outstanding, room was comfortable although the shower did flood the bathroom on one day but we notified reception and it was resolved by the afternoon. The beds were extremely comfortable and clean

We were asked to put our car reg in on first day but nobody told us we had to do it every day, now we are getting £100 fines for every day we stayed there. I know it will be resolved but it’s the inconvenience of having to phone up to cancel it. There is a need to mention that you need to enter it every day you stay there. Also we hadve a mobility car and some mornings we would come out to the car to find there were two push bikes chained next to the car obstructing our car. Anyone with a wheel chair would have a problem.

Amazingly friendly welcome from helpful and cheery staff. This includes the reception staff, the waiting and bar staff and the housekeeping team. Great location to explore Chester - we hopped on the park n ride bus. 2 out of 3 nights there was a great simple buffet which was a god send for me in a party of 3.mums and 8 children... like being on an all inclusive . everyone was happy. Breakfast was great too. We were on the ground floor so to steps to manage to get to our rooms and oh my the water pressure was awesome.

No milk for my tea in the room and that my friend had an amazing shampoo and I didn't! Need a 2nd drink machine for breakfast too or an urn with hot water for tea. A few hiccoughs when ordering food in the bar but resolved to our satisfaction.

Exceptional staff doesn’t even come close. from the moment we checked in we were greeted by the friendly informative accommodating Reception staff. Off to the pool and the sports reception staff were just great. the bar staff reserved us a family table for dinner and we’re very friendly and kind with us all. the food, although expensive, was fabulous excellent pizza’s and huge portions. We we’re spoilt for breakfast from pancakes to full cook. Great night sleep, nice and clean. a must to stay again thank you Team

The room was clean and tidy and I alert well. Due to time restraints I was unable to book breakfast. My visit was to take part in the Chester Half Marathon. The travel time from the hotel was only 8 minutes which allowed us to get to the race course in plenty of time before the roads got closed. I had stayed at the race course holiday inn last year which was perfect . Unfortunately I left booking too late and although many of my friends did get booked in at that hotel. Two of us had to book at the holiday inn south, it did not impact on our enjoyment of the weekend.

Nothing really to complain about, we would have liked to have been able to have grabbed breakfast at the Race course hotel if that had been possible as both hotels are within the same group. But that’s only a very minor part. It is something I have been able to do in Spain on occasion. Stay in in one hotel and during the day eat at other hotels in the same group during the day. This is not a complaint just an observation.

Very friendly staff, nice reception area. The bathroom was clean and had a great shower, seemed fairly recently updated and modern. Good size towels! The room was generally comfortable, with plenty of storage and plugs. Breakfast was all nice and lots of choices. Not much noise from other guests - luckily they were considerate and seemed to go to bed around midnight. Would rebook without a doubt.

The bed was comfortable but rocked about with any slight turning over, just not very sturdy and not helped by being on wheels. I did some yoga during my stay and seeing the floor close up I'm not sure it had been hoovered! The walls were a bit thin, but could have been as our room had a door between rooms which didn't insulate sound so well (could hear neighbours talking).

The breakfast: it was really good, fresh and the staff there are nice and friendly. There was a huge variety and my fav were the mushrooms and scrambled eggs., went for seconds. The staff at the hotel: particularly the receptionist was really helpful, especially when I approached her with a problem. I also enjoyed the shower; it was AMAZING!!! I didn't want to get out. Overall, it was a nice hotel and would recommend.

there was no heating in the room, there was a fault with the air con system in my room but the staff remedied that by providing a portable heater which made a difference. That's the only thing that put a damper on my experience esp because I had a newborn with me and the temperatures were a bit low for her. The network was a bit crap and making/receiving calls was a nightmare, the other thing was the WIFI, it wasn't working during my 3 nights there :(

Excellent hotel, spotlessly clean. Very friendly staff. Wide choice at the breakfast and evening buffet. Bus stop nearby - buses every 20 minutes into Chester. Handy, well-stocked convenience store next door.

Rude guests who ignore the good old English tradition of queueing - the reception and bar staff could be more aware of people who push in and politely explain that they will attend to them as soon as possible. I raised this point with management and they were very receptive to the feedback.

Staff Friendly and approachable, very helpful when we had issues or queries and got it sorted there and then. Room clean and comfortable and again staff friendly. Breakfast well presented, varied in choice, thoroughly enjoyed ours. Evening meal which we had in the lounge/bar was cooked to our liking too on both evenings, but shame the restaurant wasn't open Saturday evening. However we had a lovely weekend stay, Thanks to All the Staff. We would stay here again.

There was nothing we didn't like.

Lovely twin room (245) over looking courtyard, comfortable beds, Had to ask people in the corridor outside our room at 23.30 to stop having a chat, but thats not the hotels fault, just inconsiderate guests. Breakfast was very good, topped up all the time, hot food, & quick service.

Don't think the thermostat in our room worked, when we put it on, it was just flashing the spanner sign, indicating something was wrong. Maybe instructions how to use it would help.But there was a plug in radiator in our room (maybe hotel knew heating was not working ) No room service, so had to go downstairs to get milk, sugar, coffee & T bags.

great location next to park and ride into Chester very handy , staff very polite and helpful Emily on reception was very informative &helpful, we booked executive room good value for money lovely room nice and warm lovely shower and was very clean no issues , bed comfy the gym ,pool and spa was good excellent facilities. lastly breakfast spot on excellent selection and lots of choice I would definitely use again

shame I have to put any fault WiFi not working which was frustrating only working in bar area this is a big pain for anyone ,also the changing rooms for pool gym etc the floor was very wet with large puddles this should be constantly monitored and cleaned not nice to walk in
