Breakfast was super, the lady who served us was an extremely pleasant individual and the Cheshire Cat should have all staff be as pleasant as her. Not just nice but interested too.🤗 Bed was super comfortable and the room was nice.
Could have done with a mini fridge type thing in the room. If we were to consider a longer stay this would be key in our considerations. Some people had difficulty with the Very steep stairs to the rooms. A better grab rail should be fitted as it's only a moulded one on one side , the opposite side worked well though. If you have luggage in hand, then you need a better rail.

Room was very comfortable and generally well equipped. In the restaurant, Laura our server was exceptional and made up for the hiccups in service the first day. Sunday Roast was excellent and probably too much.
On the Saturday evening (early evening) almost half the menu was unavailable. When we were looking to have a drink on the Sunday late afternoon, admittedly on Fathers Day, we were told we’d have to wait for 15 minutes for a seat, being a resident making no difference.

Our bedroom and ensuite bathroom were lovely, quiet, very clean and very comfortable bed, tasteful decor . Every member of staff we dealt with were really nice and helpful people and we felt there was a personal touch. We liked the ambience of the place. There were several different rooms to choose in which to eat, drink and relax in making it a characterful and interesting establishment with lovely views from the windows of the outside space, gardens and beyond. It was a beautiful summers day and evening and therefore relatively busy for a Monday so people were inside and outside but as there were several rooms you felt you could easily find somewhere quiet to sit if you wanted.
The breakfast was a non buffet type with choices of a main course including full English and other interesting options.... all good. Hot drinks and juices were available but what we would have liked is some cereals and especially fruit and yogurt, toast and jams on the help yourself table. We did ask for toast and marmalade which was brought to us but I got the impression it wasn't really on offer.

The property was in superb order, the bar area was kept to a very high standard as was my accommodation. The bathroom was very clean and it had a modern look to it. The oak beams added character. The property is situated on the side of the canal which was a quirky and pleasant bonus. I didn't arrive until 10:15pm on the night of my check in date and the staff were still ever so helpful to get me checked in despite them pretty much packing up. They still had smiles on their faces which was great to be welcomed by after a tiring day. The breakfast was exceptional and the food was hot, tasty and came in a sizeable portion.
Absolutely nothing but if I had to say one thing, the speed bump in was sharp!! Haha.

Staying for a work event and we found the Cheshire Cat exceeded our expectations. Great friendly welcome and simple check in process. Rooms were big light and airey with super comfy beds. Bathroom was huge and very modern, great shower too with quality toiletries. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was perfect, nicely presented and very delicious and with great service. We had a very early start of the Saturday morning and the hotel were very accomodating in arranging an early breakfast......it was a beautifully cooked breakfast and the bacon was delicious. Service at breakfast was exceptional and friendly even at 6:30 am. Staff throughout our stay were very helpful and professional. It's a beautiful hotel right on the banks of the canal and a short drive outside of Chester - thoroughly reccomended.

The food was outstanding, we had three courses in the evening which we thoroughly enjoyed, and the room was booked with breakfast and we had the full english, which again was outstanding. We struggled a bit to eat it, but only because we ate so much the night before! The room was large and inviting and the bathroom clean and sparkly. The outlay was well done, with stairs leading up from the corridor to a bathroom on the right and bedroom on the left. My sister was next door and she had stairs going down. All in all the ambience of the place was lovely and we loved that there were lots of rooms downstairs in the bar/restaurant area which made it feel cosy and welcoming.
Absolutely nothing - everything was perfect in my opinion and I would highly recommend to everyone.

The place was lovely and the room was so spacious. A lot of family rooms are very small. Will definitely go back.
I was with my daughter and 2 grandchildren aged 6 and 2 . There was no cereal for the children and they just wanted beans with toast. Unfortunately the hotel only use sour dough bread which the children wouldn't eat as it is so hard. In fact my daughter and I didn't eat it either. The sausages were lovely but could have had a bit more colour on them as they didn't look cooked. Only other problem was there was no bath for the children to have the bedtime routine. And after running around all day they really could have done with one. Apart from that we had a good time.

This is a buzzy pub and they must be doing most things right since it seems to be constantly busy. The room was clean and comfortable and was located in the annex a few yards from the main pub building making it both peaceful yet part of the pub.
The poor water pressure was the main issue so flushing the toilet became a planned activity and the shower only worked intermittently when others in the building were not using water. We knew from the reviews that many people have these problems so we can confirm the reviews are correct.

We had tea here on our stay last night and the food is absolutely amazing, service is great too. Very friendly staff. We also had breakfast included in our stay and it was Delicious!!!!! Filled us up all day! The lady serving us this morning was so lovely too.. We will book here next time we stay in Chester! Definitely recommend for families.

This is a lovely hotel right on the Shropshire Union Canal. It's about a mile or so outside of Chester city centre via the canal towpath, which makes for a lovely walk. It's in it's own grounds which leads to a quiet and peaceful stay. The restaurant food is of a very high standard as were the breakfasts. The hotel staff were all very friendly and the service received was exceptional. Our room was in an annex to the main hotel and was fairly modern. The room was very clean and well laid out. The shower was a modern one and again very clean. I would be being really picky to find any faults with it. For the bargain price paid, I don't think I could have found a better hotel in Chester. Top marks to the hotel Manager and his team.
Everything was very good. No faults to find.
